Who wants to live forever - Part 2 - Modern AU - Petyr x Reader

This is sort of a second part of this imagine for TrashMonach, as neither of us can stand the idea of losing Petyr, and I was inspired😊 I really like doing soulmate imagines so I thought that I would give you a modern AU, and give Petyr his. And I know I have made him lovely again, but I make no apologies 😁 Hope you enjoy 🥰💖

We are born to many lives, many lifetimes, and in each of these we share our heart with one other, our soulmate. The one we have loved through time, through each and every previous life, and it was for us to find them. This fate was written in the stars and had been true for as long as anyone could remember, and it was a fate that (Y/n) knew all too well.

It was easy to be lonely in Kings Landing, many people were. So, why (Y/n) had moved there she didn't know; but there was something about the cold, dark, grey city that seemed to call to her, and (Y/n) knew not to fight against her instincts. They had served her well up until now, so she wasn't about to start ignoring them.

She had always been a bit of a drifter. Ever since it had become obvious that her soulmate was not to be found in her small hometown, (Y/n) had decided that the only way that she might ever find true happiness would be to go out and find the man whose sigil was almost etched into her flesh. She had often been teased as a child about the mark on her skin. The unusual little black bird causing the others to tell her that her soulmate would be dark, strange; but (Y/n) never minded, she liked the idea that the man whose sigil had been on her skin since birth would be unusual, a little eccentric just like her.

During her time, she had travelled to many towns, calling each one home only for a short time, moving when it became clear that the one man she wanted to find was not there; but Kings Landing had held her longer, and the fact that it was a big city gave her a new hope that her mystery man could be out there somewhere.

As days had turned into weeks and now a full year, (Y/n) was giving up hope that she would find her soulmate anywhere. Maybe the mark had been put there by accident she thought. Maybe her soulmate was no longer alive in this lifetime. But whatever the case, for some reason she couldn't bring herself to leave the grim, dirty city.

(Y/n) woke up early that morning, she was to start a new job at a little place in the middle of the city, helping out in the office with general office duties and whatever the boss, a man called Vary, decided he needed. She had to admit that it wasn't the best job in the world, but it was better than spending 12 hours on her feet working in a diner, where she would probably get hit on by some greasy, overweight cook that smelled of cheap cigars and even cheaper booze, so who was she to complain; but as she looked in the mirror, making sure that her hair was in place, she couldn't help but feel a strange sense of loneliness that she had never really felt before, a feeling so strong that it seemed to strike at her very soul. Shaking the feeling off as best she could, (Y/n) grabbed her bag and made her way out of her small apartment, wrapping herself in her large overcoat as she shielded herself against the cool morning air.

                                                        >>--------------------------------<<

Petyr was used to being alone, he was used to being lonely, and in a city like Kings Landing being alone was an easy thing to be. No one seemed to care, no one seemed to want to open their heart, and despite the fact that he had moved around a lot, he had never been able to find the woman who had his sigil over her heart. The woman that he had loved for a hundred lifetimes.

He had often wondered if her sigil of an elegant owl, had been placed on his heart by mistake. Yet another thing intended to make this already small dark world even smaller. What seemed to make things worse was that everyone else around him had a soulmate, all the people that worked for Robert Baratheon, even a detestable man like his rival Varys had found someone, a fact that the Varys never let Petyr live down.

Brushing his fingers through his hair, and pulling his suit jacket around his shoulders, he stood in front of the mirror and looked at the sigil that seemed to stare back at him. There was something about the sigil that had always led him to believe that his soulmate, if she ever existed, must be someone exceptional, someone beautiful, and as he thought, a sense of loneliness stronger than any he had had before, came over him. A sense so strong that it seemed to eat into his very soul. Slowly he shook his head, trying to get rid of the feeling, knowing that yet again he would have to put on one of his happy faces, and make his way to work.

                                                         >>---------------------------------<<

(Y/n) made her way down the street, dodging the mountains of rubbish and the shoulders of the other pedestrians. She had come to quickly realise that manners were not something most people seemed to have in Kings Landing, nor was common decency. In fact the prevailing thought seemed to be "Screw everyone else", and as she was pushed and jostled, that sentiment seemed to be in force.

(Y/n) hadn't been able to shake off that feeling of loneliness, it was clouding her mind, making it difficult for her to think of anything else as she made her way down the sidewalk. She hadn't taken notice of the faces of the others around her, they all looked the same anyway, and she most certainly hadn't noticed the bus that was heading towards her as she stepped off the kerb.

                                                      >>--------------------------------------<<

Petyr was making his way to work, avoiding the piles of garbage and trying to ignore the rats that seemed to scurry around, mimicking the people that pushed passed him. It had already been a long day, and he hadn't even made it to work yet, nor had he had to face Varys yet, a fact that Petyr was not looking forward to.

Petyr and Varys worked in the same office, both with different duties for their boss Robert, but still they had always been rivals. Both of them vying for the same information, both doing all they could to outdo the other. And recently Varys seemed to have been making it his mission to upset Petyr more than normal, and with the feeling of loneliness the seemed to be enveloping him in a dark blanket, Varys was the last thing Petyr wanted to deal with.

As he made his way down the sidewalk, Petyr's eyes scanned the faces of the other people that seemed as reluctant as he was to go to work. Usually he ignored everyone, not wishing to make eye contact with anyone else; but for some reason, a reason that he couldn't explain, today was different. Suddenly there seemed to be something that was glowing brightly in the middle of the gloom, like a shaft of light was coming down from the heavens and illuminating a single soul amongst the countless around him. It was then he saw her, a woman so beautiful that he feared it was dream, so perfect that she could only have been sent from heaven. There was something about her, something that instantly made him feel not so alone, something that made him want to get to her, to find out who, and what she was.

As he watched her graceful form, his eyes widened in horror as his mystery lady stepped off the kerb and onto the road, not seeming to notice the bus that was barreling down on her, and within an instance, Petyr knew what he had to do.

                                                              >>--------------------------------<<

(Y/n) could do nothing but close her eyes and wait for the impact, as she finally noticed the bus hurtling towards her. But instead of feeling the touch of cold metal and pain, she felt herself being pulled backwards, the warmth of another person's body against hers, as two strong arms held her close. She daren't open her eyes. Maybe this was what being dead felt like, the warm embrace of love. But whatever it was, she didn't want it to end; it felt like home, it felt like the place she truly belonged and she was afraid that if she looked, then whoever it was would disappear.

"Are you ok?" A smooth voice asked, as (Y/n) continued to bury her head into the man's chest.

"Are you ok, miss?" The voice asked again hesitantly, prompting (Y/n) to finally, and reluctantly open her eyes.

The first thing she saw was a pair of perfect orbs that seemed to be filled with a sadness that she couldn't help but feel herself drawn to. Then she noticed his feature, he was a strange kind of beautiful. His face was angular yet soft, his slight beard neatly cut. His salt and pepper hair making him look slightly older than his years, and she could feel her heart pound violently in her chest as he brought up his hand and brushed her loose hair back behind her ear.

"I er......yes, I......." (Y/n) began, before finding it impossible to speak for the first time in her life.

Without thinking, (Y/n) placed her hand around the man's neck and pulled him towards her, her lips connecting with his as she forgot the world. Forgot the bus and the people that surrounded them, smiling as the man seemed to melt into the kiss just as much as she was. Nothing in her life had felt so perfect, so right, so much like it was meant to be; but as they slowly moved apart, his forehead resting on hers, (Y/n) finally realised what she had done.

Suddenly she pulled away from his arms, trying to ignore the look of loss in his eyes as she moved away. "I'm sorry.......I....... I have to." (Y/n) tried to explain before rushing off into the crowd, the man desperately trying to follow.

                                                         >>--------------------------------<<

Petyr couldn't believe what had just happened. He had just save a woman, and she had just kissed him; but it wasn't just any kiss, it was a kiss that gave him a feeling that he had so longed for, a feeling that he never wanted to end. But as she pulled away and seemed to flee in horror at what she had just done, Petyr couldn't help but feel like his heart had broken, the pain worse than any physical agony he had ever experienced. He tried to follow the woman, and even though he was quick on his feet, she seemed to be even quicker, disappearing into the crowd as if some master magician had just waved his magic wand, and made her vanish in a puff of smoke.

                                                         >>---------------------------------<<

Pushing his way into the office, Petyr couldn't help but notice the hullabaloo that seemed to be going on as the other men appeared to be primping themselves in front of the mirrors, combing back their hair, and straightening their clothes.

"What's going on?" Petyr asked Tyrion curiously, as he came to sit by the side of the little man, his mind still filled with the image of the beautiful woman that had kissed him.

"Oh, Varys has some new woman that's come to work for him in the office, this lot are hoping that they might get lucky, and find themselves a soulmate." Tyrion chuckled, as he looked up at Petyr.

"Varys asked if I would tell you that he wants to see you as soon as you got in." Tyrion said reluctantly, as he noticed Petyr's skin bristled. It more than obvious that he didn't like being called into Varys office like some underling.

Petyr knew he was late. He had been looking for his mystery lady, losing track of time as he searched everywhere for the beautiful creature. And now it was obvious that his rival was going to find some way of making him pay for his tardiness.

Reluctantly Petyr stood up, and made his way to the office, ignoring the looks of the other men, as he walked through the large room.

"Good, just the man." Varys said, as Petyr made his way into the office, his eyes widening as they fell on the woman he had been searching for.

"(Y/n) this is Petyr. Petyr, this is (Y/n). She's going to be working here from now on. I'd like you to introduce her to the others if you would, and give her a quick once over of the place." Varys said, not noticing how the pair were looking at one another, nor that their hands had moved up to the sigils that were ingrained on their hearts.

"Er.....yeah, no problem." Petyr almost whispered, as the woman drew up in front of him. A small smile gracing her lips as Petyr opened the door to the office so they she could leave.

"So...... your name is (Y/n)?" Petyr asked hesitantly, as the two of them stood outside the door to Varys office.

"So, your name is Petyr?" (Y/n) asked, as she instinctively moved the material of her shirt, and showed the stunned man before her, his sigil on her skin.

"I didn't mean to run away. It's just that I've just been waiting for my soulmate for so long that I felt guilty for kissing someone that wasn't, but obviously I was wrong." (Y/n) said with a soft smile, as she saw her owl on Petyr's chest.

"Thank you for saving me, Petyr." (Y/n) told the still stunned man, as she drew closer to him. Their bodies resting against one another's so that they could feel each other's heartbeat.

"You.....you're welcome." Petyr stuttered out, shocked, as (Y/n) rested her head against his chest, the same wonderful feeling taking over her senses as she felt his warmth.

"We could always kiss again if you wanted, I mean you are my soulmate after all." (Y/n) chuckled, looking up into Petyr's eyes, eyes that she already knew she wanted to drown in for the rest of her days.

"We, we could, yes." Petyr replied, as he pulled her closer. Taking her face gently in the palm of his hand as he brushed his thumb over her parted lips.

"Then I think that would be a very good start to this relationship, don't you?" (Y/n) asked, as she placed her lips softly against Petyr's. Petyr once again feeling the emotions that had brightened his world from earlier.

As he placed his arms around (Y/n)'s waist, pulling her as close as he could, he knew that Vary, nor anyone else, would ever be able to look down on him again for not having found his soulmate. He knew that he had finally found the woman that was meant for him and only him, and that no matter how long it had taken, she was definitely worth the wait.
