I Hate You; I Love You - Theon x Reader
"I hate you Theon Greyjoy, I hate you so much! Don't you dare come near me ever again." (Y/n) screamed, as she rushed from the practice area where she and Theon had been sparring.
Robb and Jon rolled their eyes, arguments between (Y/n) and Theon were nothing new, in fact, they were more or less a daily occurrence; both parties seeming to take great delight in getting as far under the skin of the other as they possibly could, but this time it seemed a little more serious than usual.
"You go speak with (Y/n), and I'll talk to Theon." Robb told Jon, as he walked off in the direction of the practice area.
Jon ran after his sister, catching up with her quickly as she stormed towards her rooms.
"(Y/n) wait." Jon shouted, as he grabbed hold of her arm, spinning her around to find tears were flowing down her cheeks.
Jon was shocked, (Y/n) never cried, especially at anything Theon said; (Y/n) was tough, strong, and resourceful, and normally she had a pretty thick skin, but it was obvious that whatever Theon had said this time, he had touched a nerve.
"(Y/n), what is it? What did the big mouth say this time?" Jon asked, pulling his sister into his arms, and brushing away her tears.
"He said that I was a good-for-nothing bastard, that didn't deserve to live at Winterfell with Ned's real children. He said that I would never amount to anything, and that no descent man would ever want to marry me; he said that I will never be a lady, and that I should just stop fighting it and become the only thing that I am suitable for, a whore in some brothel." (Y/n) told Jon, the anger evident in her voice as the tears continued to roll down her cheeks.
Jon's blood began to boil, how dare Theon say that to his sister. Neither of them had asked to be born the bastard children of Ned Stark, neither of them had asked for this life; and it was an unspoken rule that no one would call the Snow twins bastard. It hurt enough when outsiders did it, even though the two had grown used to it; but for Theon to call (Y/n) that, for Theon to say that his sister was no good, and that she was little more than a whore, made Jon want to confront him.
"(Y/n), go to your rooms, and let me fix this." Jon tried to say as calmly as he could, combing a few stray black hairs back behind her ear.
"There is no fixing this Jon, nothing he can say would ever make up for this. I never want to see Theon Greyjoy again." (Y/n) said, pulling away from her brother, and running off.
Jon stormed over to where Robb was talking to Theon; before Robb could stop him, Jon had Theon pinned up against a wall.
"How dare you say those things to my sister, what has she ever done to you to warrant you telling her things like that? She is the only one that has ever been truly prepared to put up with your bad behaviour; despite how she shouts at you, how she complains at you, she actually really cares about you. And how do you repay her care? You go around boasting about every woman that you've bedded, and you dare call her a whore." Jon growled, staring at a wide eyed Theon.
"He called (Y/n) what?" Robb asked, now becoming as angry as Jon.
Even though Jon and (Y/n) were not his full siblings, they were still his father's children, and they were family, and Robb cared a great deal about his sister.
"He told my sister that she was a good for nothing bastard, that she didn't deserve to be here, that she would never finds a decent husband and that she should stop fighting it, and become the only thing she can be, a whore in a brothel." Jon told a red faced Robb, who was now glaring at Theon.
"I-I-I'm sorry....... I didn't mean any of it, I got angry, and I just wanted to hurt her. I know it was wrong, and I'll do whatever I need to, to make it right." Theon said shakily, as the two brothers scowled at him.
"There is nothing you can say that can make this better Theon; (Y/n) never wants to see you again, and I can't say I blame her. Calling me a bastard is one thing, saying that I will never amount to anything is fine; but how dare you say those things to (Y/n), when all she has ever done is defend you and your childish behaviour to everyone else; and she has even put herself in danger countless times, protecting you against irate fathers and brothers of your latest conquests. So, I suggest that for your own good, you stay away from my sister." Jon said, finally letting go of Theon as he walked away.
Even though Robb was angry, he offered Theon his arm to help him from the floor.
"You know something Theon, you really are a fool. You must be the only person in Winterfell that doesn't realise that (Y/n) loves you." Robb said, trying not to smirk at a confused looking Theon.
"(Y/n) loves me?" Theon asked, staring in disbelief at the Stark heir.
"(Y/n) had loved you since the day you arrived as our father's ward; she used to talk about you nonstop, it drove the family insane, but that stopped when you started screwing everything in a skirt. She told Sansa that she knew she wasn't worthy to be with you, that you were the heir to the Iron Islands, and would only want a real lady by your side, and that she was nothing more than a bastard who could never hope to be loved by a man like you." Robb told Theon, who was desperately trying to comprehend everything that Robb was telling him.
"I have to go talk to her, to apologise." Theon said, moving to walk past Robb, only to find himself stopped in his tracks.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you Theon, you know what (Y/n) is like, if you go rushing in there, you are likely to lose something more than just your pride. Just give her some time to calm down." Robb said, patting Theon on the shoulder, before leaving him to his thoughts.
It had been weeks since Theon had heard or seen anything of (Y/n), try as he might to see her, she had become an expert at avoiding him. He would go to her rooms but would always find it empty; he would go to the practice area, only to find that she had just left. Jon wasn't making things easier, he would take all her meals to her, making sure that he was close by his sisters' side, and if he saw Theon he would scurry (Y/n) away.
"What can I do Robb?" I've tried everything to see her, but whatever I do I haven't been able to find her." Theon complained, looking up slightly annoyed as Robb laughed.
"The Snow twins are angry at you Theon; did you think that either of them were going to make things easy for you? You should know they are stubborn, and even if you did get to talk to her, what would you say?" Robb asked, watching as Theon moved uncomfortably in his seat.
"I'd tell her the truth." Theon almost whispered, not really wanting to tell (Y/n)'s oldest brother the real reason behind why he fought so much with (Y/n).
"The truth?" Robb asked, slightly confused about what Theon could mean.
Theon let out a heavy sigh. "The truth that I love (Y/n), and that I always have done. I chase the other girls because I know that I'm not good enough for someone like her. She is the most beautiful girl in Winterfell, she's funny and intelligent, her eyes are the same colour as the deepest seas, and her laughter makes my stomach tie up in knots." Theon confessed, dropping his head into his hands.
Robb was surprised to hear such a thing coming from his friend, he could never imagine that Theon could feel such things; but as Robb saw the distress on Theon's face, he made up his mind to help him.
"I will help you speak to (Y/n), but if you ever hurt her, you will not only have Jon to answer to." Robb warned, smiling slightly as Theon began to beam.
"I promise Robb, I will never hurt (Y/n), just please, I need to speak with her."
The two came up with a plan, Robb would locate the twins and distract Jon, while Theon spoke to (Y/n). Both of them knew that it wouldn't be simple, an angry (Y/n) was not an easy thing to handle; but Theon had assure Robb that he would do whatever it took.
After much searching, Robb and Theon found the twins in the stables, laughing and throwing hay at one another while they brushed the horses; ever since they could comprehend, the twins had always enjoyed their time together, disappearing as often as they could just so that they could be in one another's company. They always had a strong bond, and this had only got stronger as they had grown, and it was obvious more than ever to the two men that looked on, that Jon and (Y/n) loved each other a great deal.
Robb coughed, alerting the pair to his presence, as Theon hid in the shadows. "Jon, could I steal you away for a few moments? I have something to discuss with you." Robb said, smiling as (Y/n) came up and kissed him on the cheek.
"Of course." Jon said, looking over at his sister.
"You'll be alright for a moment won't you (Y/n)?" Jon asked, smiling as (Y/n) nodded and returned to the horses, as Robb escorted Jon quickly out of the stables.
After a few moments, Theon had finally plucked up the courage to face (Y/n).
"Hello." Theon said nervously, taking a few steps back as (Y/n) turned to glare at him.
"What do you want Greyjoy? Can't you see I'm busy?" (Y/n) growled, turning back to the horse, and picking up another brush.
"I've come to apologise.......I...." Theon began, only to be cut off by (Y/n).
"Apologise? You? HA! Everyone knows that the great Theon Greyjoy doesn't apologise for anything. You don't care enough to apologise; who made you come here? It was certainly not Jon, so it must either have been Robb or father, either way, I'm not listening to some fake apology that you are being forced into." (Y/n) hissed, as she threw the grooming brush at his head, Theon ducking, but almost losing his footing.
"Please (Y/n), will you just listen, I have something important to say." Theon told her, regaining his composure, and moving closer to (Y/n) now that she had nothing else to throw at him.
"(Y/n), I am truly sorry for everything I said to you that day, I didn't mean any of it; I was scared and confused about my feelings for you, and I've never really known how to tell you that I love you and that I always have done, to tell you that you are the most perfect woman in the Seven Kingdoms, to tell you that I would give everything I have and am to be with you. That I want nothing more than to have you by my side, and love you for the rest of my days; I was scared of losing you, scared of not being worthy of you, and I lashed out at the one person that I should never have lashed out at." Theon confessed to a dumbstruck (Y/n), who had stumbled backwards, falling unceremoniously into a large pile of hay.
"I know I don't deserve to be forgiven (Y/n), but please, please, never doubt that I love you." Theon said, dropping to his knees next to her in the pile of hay.
After a few moments, (Y/n) leaned forward and punched Theon in the arm.
"You have to be the most stupid man in the Seven Kingdoms, Theon Greyjoy. If you had just given me the slightest inclination that you cared for me, I would have done this a long time ago." (Y/n) said, pulling a surprised Theon on top of her, holding him tight as she kissed his lips.
Once he had recovered from his temporary shock, Theon pulled (Y/n) to him, kissing her passionately, hoping that the moment would never end.
A cough and a chuckle suddenly pulled the pair apart, as (Y/n) and Theon stared wide eyed at a slightly annoyed Jon, and an amused Robb.
"So, I take it that you two made up?" Robb joked, patting Jon on the back as he looked at a blushing (Y/n).
"I believe so." Theon said, taking (Y/n)'s hands in his, and kissing them gently.
"You've told her that you love her then?" Robb asked, trying not to laugh at a confused Jon, but also smiling as Theon looked lovingly at (Y/n).
"Yes I have, and hopefully now that she knows, she will one day allow me to take her hand, and make her the new Lady Greyjoy." Theon said happily, as (Y/n) threw herself into his arms.
Jon sighed and crossed his arms over his chest, smiling slightly as his friend and sister embraced, his brother next to him resting his hand on his shoulder reassuringly.
"I know he loves her, Jon; but rest assured, if he ever hurts her, I'll help you get him myself." Robb whispered, as the two brothers left the new lovers to their embrace.
