FIVE PAIRS OF EYES SLOWLY MOVED TOWARDS THE DOOR. Everyone seemed to take a silent gulp, their pride too much to admire the feeling rising. Bruce subconsciously took a step back. As Tony and Astrid moved towards the door, Tony glanced over his shoulder, anxiety clouding in his eyes.
Upon opening the door, the sound of screams and car horns erupted in everyone's ears, making most wince or cringe at the sound. Tony took cautious strides down the dust layered sidewalk, helping up a woman that fell by his feet. "You okay?"
Astrid flinched back as a car slammed into a nearby lamppost. She turned, watching as Tony yelled at Bruce and Wong to help the couple out of the car. "Help them! Wong, Doc!" Tony slipped on his sunglasses. "F.R.I.D.A.Y., what am I looking at?"
"Not sure, I'm working on it." the Irish female AI responded, even some nervousness in her automated voice, which didn't help Tony.
As Tony reached the corner of the building that was hindering their view of the unknown enemy, Tony turned, jabbing his index finger at the Doctor's necklace. "You might wanna put that in your pocket!"
Stephen, who fell a few steps behind him, frowned. He bumped his hands together before quickly pulling him back, now having two glowing cuffs on each wrist. "I might wanna use it."
Tony pressed his back to the cement wall of the building, craning his neck to peak around. A quick moment passed before he retracted his head, watching as a large slab of metal flew past him, nearly killing several running citizens.
With a hop in his step, he moved to the centre of the street, the noise of machinery growing ten times louder. The other four followed quickly after. Before then was a massive ring-like ship, floating a few yards over the city.
PETER FELT A CHILL RUN THROUGH HIS BODY, AND HE LOOKED UP TO SEE HIS HAIR STANDING ON EDGE. A look of concern flashed over his youthful face, and he turn in his seat on the school bus, his eyes widening at the sight of the floating ship.
Keeping his eyes focused on the ship, his hand reached up, patting Ned on the shoulder before accidentally moving to his face. Ned pulled out an earbud, casually moving his eyes up to his friend.
"Ned, hey." Peter turned, meeting eyes with Ned's. "I need you to cause a distraction."
Ned's eyes passed over his shoulder. "Holy shit..." Looking at the rest of his classmates who haven't seemed to notice the threat yet, Ned bolted up from his seat, rushing to the back of the bus. "We're all gonna die! There's a spaceship!"
The rest of the kids turned, everyone moving to the windows to get a better look.
Peter glanced across from him, seeing Lucy—his girlfriend—sitting with her soundproof earbuds in, staring down at her phone. He reached in his bag, digging out a small bracelet. He slapped it on his wrist, watching as it unfolded into a brand-new web shooter.
Flicking his wrist, the web snaked around Lucy's phone, before bouncing back to Peter. Peter caught the phone with ease, stuffing it in his bag.
"Hey—!" Lucy protested, pulling out her earbuds to see it was Peter who took her phone. Her angered expression quickly softened upon seeing the anxiety in Peter's eyes. Her hazel eyes flickered towards the spaceship, eyes widening. "Holy shit..."
Peter nodded, pulling out his red mask. "We gotta go."
Lucy grabbed her own spandex suit from her bag, balling it up before pinning it under her arm. Peter stood up in the isle of the bus and Lucy followed Peter out the side. Lucy was helped by Peter, before slipping her arms around his torso. "Hang on."
Lucy smirked, tightening her arms. "I always love this part."
❝F.R.I.D.A.Y., EVAC ANYONE SOUTH OF FORTY-THIRD AND NOTIFY FIRST RESPONDERS!❞ Tony commanded, jogging up to an open car door and standing behind it to block the dust that blew around him. "Will do."
Stephen swirled his arms around before pushing it out towards the ship, clearing away all the dust and garbage that drifted around the street.
His striking eyes moved to Tony's, playfully winking at him. Tony rolled his eyes, turning to face ahead.
A beam of blue light flashed down on the street and a slim figure stood in the street beside a larger, bulkier one.
"Hear me, and rejoice! You are about to die at the hand of the children of Thanos. Be thankful, that your meaningless lives are now contributing to—"
"I'm sorry!" Tony shouted over the alien, cutting it off. "Earth is closed today! You better pack it up, and get out of here!"
The alien—Ebony Maw—frowned. He looked at Stephen, who stood beside Astrid confidently. "Stone keeper, does this chattering animal speak for you?"
Stephen took a step forward. "Certainly not, I speak for myself." he bumped his fists together again, creating two shields on either hand. "You're trespassing in this city, and on this planet."
Wong followed Stephen's actions
"It means get lost, Squidward!" Tony added after.
"They exhaust me." Maw said to Cull Obsidian—the alien standing beside him. "Bring me the Stone."
Cull growled before starting to stalk his way towards the group.
Astrid's arms flashed up, pointing a handgun at the alien. Stephen glanced at her before rolling his eyes. "You really think a couple of bullets are gonna stop him?"
She narrowed her eyes, gritting her teeth. "Like you would really know."
Tony bounced on the balls of his feet. "Banner, you want a piece?"
Bruce glanced at Tony, fidgeting with the collar of his jacket. "No...not really, but when do I ever get what I want?"
Tony nodded. "That's right. It's been a while. Good to have you, buddy."
Bruce clenched his muscles, trying to force the Hulk to come out of hiding. A green hue rose on his neck before dying away quickly. He grunted.
Everyone looked at Bruce, watching him struggle to bring out the Hulk.
Tony lifted his arms in confusion. "Where's your guy?"
Bruce panted, shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. We're sorta having this thing."
Tony shook his head, clasping him on the shoulder. "No, there's no time for a thing." he pointed at Cull who was getting closer and closer with each booming step. "That's the thing right there. Let's go."
Bruce forced Hulk with all he could, leaning back and letting out a groan. Stephen looked over at Bruce again, face contorted in annoyance. Tony glanced at Stephen before looked over at Bruce. "Dude, you're embarrassing me in front of the wizards."
"I can't...he won't..." Bruce panted, shaking his head. Tony patting Bruce on the shoulder. "It's okay, stand down."
Bruce panted in relief, moving behind Wong. Tony motioned at Bruce, looking at Wong. "Keep an eye on him?" Wong nodded, stepping in front of the scientist.
Cull broke into a run. Tony pulled on two strings in his jacket before tapping the device in his chest. An iron suit instantly rippled from the arc reactor, slowly covering his body. As Tony removed his shades, the suit built a mask over his face.
Cull raised his axe above Tony's head, swinging it down and clashing it against a large red and gold shield that Tony had equipped in his suit. Tony's iron fist swung up, punching Cull in the face.
He raised both arms, activating four hovering nano-lasers. Activating all four at once, he shot at Cull, sending him flying backward. Maw frowned, simply flicking his hand and sending Cull into a herd of cars, setting off their alarms.
As the nano-lasers fitted back into his suit, Tony took a small step back.
"Where'd that come from?!" Bruce asked in amazement. Tony looked back at him. "It's nano-tech. You like it? Looks something like—"
Tony was cut off by the ground spiking up, sending him into the air—thanks to Maw. Maw lifted trees from the nearby sidewalks, sending them towards the other four. Wong rushed forward, enlarging his shield to block off the hits.
Stephen let down his guard, turning to Banner. "Doctor Banner, if your green friend won't be joining us..."
Stephen opened a portal, transporting him and the end of a taxi car into Central Park.
Stephen pursed his lips, swirling his arms around again to form a glowing circle. Tony swooped in by flight, interrupting Stephen and shooting a car at Maw. Maw easily split the car in two.
"You gotta get that Stone out of here now." Tony said, looking back at the Doctor. Stephen's frown deepened. "It stays with me."
"Exactly." Tony said, taking off into the air. "Bye!"
Maw threw lampposts at Tony, who skillfully dodged them before getting smacked with Cull's axe. The axe flew down New York street, right into Central Park.
Bruce ran up to Tony, who laid at the trunk of a tree, buried into the ground. "Tony! You okay?! How're we doing? Good, man?"
"Really, really good. Do you plan on helping out?" Tony remarked sarcastically. Bruce threw up his hands in confusion. "I'm trying! He just won't come out!"
Cull crashed through a building, hurling his axe at Tony again. "Time out!" Tony called, suddenly flying up and hitting Bruce out of the way.
He laid Bruce on the ground before taking off again, firing his repolsers at Cull. The beam of energy got reflected off the axe Cull held up, slicing a tree in the process. Bruce gasped, nearly getting smushed under it.
Bruce crawled from under the leaves, pleading with his other-self. "C'mon, Hulk! What are you doing!" he sat on his knees, slapping himself in the face to anger himself. "Come on! Come on, come on!"
Bruce gasped as Hulk's face appeared. "No!"
When he returned to himself, he fell back onto his back in exhaustion. "What do you mean no?!"
Tony was hit to the ground by Cull. As Cull ran at Tony, he swung his weapon.
Tony turned, just in time to see a flash of red from stopping the axe from killing Tony. Peter's head popped out from the axe. "Hey, man! What's up."
Peter glanced back at Tony. "Hey Mr. Stark."
"Kid, where'd you come from?"
"A field trip—" Peter cried out when Cull grabbed him and threw him off to the side.
"Comin' in hot!" a distant female voice hollered out before a sling of white wrapped around Cull's arm. Another flash of red swung in, kicking Cull in the face. Cull stumbled to the side before glaring down at the second teenage hero.
The girl was dressed in a suit very similar to Peter's, only it had a larger spider on the front of the suit, and larger robotic eyes.
Spider-Girl—Lucy—narrowed her robotic eyes at Cull. "You hit Spider-Man? You ass wipe—" she screamed, also getting smacked away in another direction.
Tony's eyes followed Lucy. "Good god, there's two of you..."
