Where Loyalties Stand ~Amelia's Story~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~With Amelia~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amelia grew up with her mother until she was left alone at a young age. Amelia was smart and quickly became friends with Varys. She was one of his spies when she was younger and when she came of age he helped her by getting her a small position in the castle. She was always quick to find the library in her off time to read. When she was off from her castle duties, she was with her childhood friend Gendry. They would test his swords out and learn how to use them in case the need ever came. As she got older and started developing more she grew feelings for her friend. She never acted on them, out of fear that he would reject her. She could not bear the thought of losing her only friend.
When Varys found out about Arabella looking for a new handmaiden he was quick to inform Amelia about it. He had a feeling that the two girls would get along very well, and they would need each other in the end. Amelia didn't think highly of the Lannisters, and she did not want to be the handmaiden for one. Varys had told Amelia that Arabella was far from being a Lannister, and couldn't be even if she tried. He saw the greatness in the girl. He could see the very familiar traits in her, but he could not place where he knew them from. Varys was right though. Arabella was far from being a Lannister, and Amelia was quick to like the girl. The girl was still young, but seemed to have a vast amount of knowledge within her. She always had Amelia guessing what she was going to do, and how she was going to do it.
Knowing that Jaime was here in camp. All Amelia could do was wonder what Arabella would do knowing he was here. She and Arabella grew closer during the travels. Arabella let Amelia know about her thoughts on her marriage. Arabella told her how she loved Jaime. She expressed her concerns that he was not loyal to her. Arabella also had told her of her theories, ones that could be considered as treason. Which as Amelia thought about it, could see it as a reality. She knew Gendry was the bastard son of the King. He nearly looked like his father. It was scary, how similar the two appeared to me. So it was not too far fetched that the Queen and her brother conceived her children.
One afternoon while they were still in the castle she had been summoned by Lord Stark. He had asked her questions about Gendry, he must have seen them together. He asked about his parents, and if she knew about his father. Sadly Amelia did not know who his parents were, nor did he know. The only person who might have known was the blacksmith store owner. Amelia was then asked about what she knew about the heirs of the king. Amelia had explained that most of the bastards of the king had brown hair. The only children that had blonde hair was the one he had with the queen. She could only assume that Lord Stark was on the same path or Jon Arryn. She was quick to warn Lord Stark of how to trust only certain people with this information. She had explained that Jon Arryn had been asking questions, before his untimely end.
After their conversation, Lord Stark swore Amelia to keep this conversation to herself. He had her swear that she would not tell Arabella about this as well. Amelia swore that she would not tell Arabella, but asked as to why not to.
Lord Stark had told her that Arabella has a temper, and when it has reached its peak she will lash out and in manner of speaking self destruct herself in order to seek justice.
When her and Jon were younger, there was a young boy who picked on Jon and would often treat him terribly. Arabella had then jumped on the kid and beat him up. She was of course hit back and had a black eye, sprained wrist, and busted knuckles. Jon had tried to pull Arabella off, but was not able to. He ended up having to get Ned. Ned even had a hard time pulling her off the boy. When he finally got her off her eyes were a deep violet, and even he was afraid of her. Ned glared down at the girl in his arm, and told her to calm down. It took him to tell her a few more times before she finally calmed down. The kid looked worse than she did, and she definitely punished (not as bad as she could have had Ned not heard what caused her to lash out).
While they were on the run, they got to know each other more. Time then was spent talking to distract from what was really going on around them. Amelia told Arabella about Gendry, the boy she grew up with and really cared for. Arabella expressed her concerns with Amelia about Jaime again. Ameila remembered what Lord Stark said and decided it was best not to confirm or deny anything to Arabella. She didn't want to upset her friend, especially when they were in the middle of being hunted down.
She knew she should have told Arabella, when she had caught Jaime. She threatened him with telling Arabella. Jaime pleaded with her not to, and offered to pay her quite well if she didn't tell Arabella. Amelia declined getting paid off with great anger. She simply told Jaime that if she caught him again, she was making a quick trip to Arabella to tell her. Jaime's eyes were wide with fear and concern. Jaime promised her that he would never do it again. Amelia kept a very close eye on Jaime after that day. True to his word after that day Jaime was not seen with the queen or another lady again. Jaime promised to remain loyal to Arabella, and to her knowledge he did.
Amelia was far from being loyal to Jaime, and over the time she grew to know Arabella. She swore to keep her safe. Arabella was the sweetness and innocence in the world. The thing that was hard to find in his dark and twisted game of thrones. Amelia was more than happy to follow Arabella to the ends of the earth if it meant keeping her innocence protected.
Amelia felt the change coming, so it was of no surprise when Jaime was leaving he asked her for a favor he knew she would do without complaints. He asked her to watch over his wife, and keep her safe. He was trusting her with, in his own words, his one shot of redemption and his one greatest treasure. He had told Amelia that even though he didn't seem like it. He truly cared for her, and he wanted her safe no matter the cost. He had even gone with her to see Varys to enlist his help as well. Which was even a bigger surprise, seeing Jaime going to someone he wouldn't trust with a butter knife to help protect his wife. That didn't matter anymore, what mattered now was keeping her and her unborn children safe, and Ameila would do just that.
Even if that meant helping the Kingslayer getting Arabella back to his ancestral home, or hiding her away in Essors and away from her family and friends.
~Author's note~
I may try to shoot for another update today. This one took longer than I had planned for. I took a break to make some Gumbo before it got to cold to do to much. Hope you all enjoyed this perspective from Amelia.
