Things are in the Works

The next morning, Arabella woke up to an empty bed. Jaime had left and a while ago judging by how cold his side of the bed was. Arabella began to wonder what her husband was up to. The sun was just beginning to rise and she knew that it was going to be hours before anyone came in the room to check on her. She also knew that no one, other than her husband and a few members of the castle's staff. She figured she'd dress herself and go see if her father was awake, or eat breakfast with her sister's, whom she deeply missed. She let her hair down, not wanting to fight putting it up, and wore a blue dress with a purple cloak over it. The dress without her knowledge made her eyes look more purple than their normal blue.

True to Arabella's thinking the halls of the castle were bare besides for very few servants. She had made it to the hands tower and only passed a handful of them. When she arrived in the quarters she could see a light coming from her father's room. She had a feeling her father was over working, like normal. She knocked on her father's door. The sound of papers being pushed about was heard from within the room before a call to come in came out.

"Father, you need to rest. Have you been resting since we got here," Arabella said out to her father.

"Arabella, what are you doing here? Why aren't you in your chambers resting," he asked dodging her question.

"I'll answer your question if you answer mine," she quipped.

"I have rested when I can," he said with a smile before raising his eyebrow to encourage her answer.

"I woke up early and Jaime wasn't there, figured I would come here to see if you or the girls were up," she explained smiling.

"How much do you trust your husband," he questioned getting serious.

"That's a strange question, father. I trust him to protect me, or I at least hope he will," she told him, her smiling falling from her lips and her eyebrows coming together in worry.

"What of Tyrion,"

"I'd trust him more than his brother. Which might not seem like saying much, but I feel that he would be more honest. Where is this coming from," she questioned.

"What I tell you, you can't tell anyone, though I fear this will have a bad outcome for you," he tells me, "Read this. It's from your mother".

Arabella took the letter from her father and read over its contents. It said that Bran was attacked and she believed that Tyrion was the one who planned it and she was holding him for the crimes he committed. Each word made her eyes widen with shock. Not able to believe the words she was reading.

"Father, I highly doubt Tyrion has anything to do with it. He was nothing but nice to our family during his time with us, and he even helped me by bringing me books to read. It has to be someone else," she told him.

"Your mother found a blonde hair up there where Bran fell,"

"The queen is involved or," she paused, "Jaime".

"I have a theory. I've been researching the princess and princes. Something Jon Arynn was looking into before he died. I found his journal. It said the seed is strong with him," he started.

"Father, what you are suggesting could be grounds for treason or worse. Wait how did you get the letter from mother," she paused her rant to question the truth behind it.

"A friend of your mother's brought it to me. She trusts him,".

"But do you trust him,"

"If your mother does then so do I,"

"Okay. If you think that is wise,"

"I do. You said Jaime was not there when you woke up,"

"Right he wasn't there today, and he left the room after breakfast yesterday. I do not know where he went though,"

"Hmmm, I think you should watch yourself over the next few days. If you need to come here to rest you are more than welcomed. I will assign a knight to you as well,"

"Father there is no need for that. I remember how to use a sword, knife, and my fists if the need comes. I do not believe Jaime will harm me, but I have been wrong before," she chuckles at the end.

"If you insist. But please be careful, we are not in Winterfell anymore, and their customs here are different than ours. If anything were to happen, keep an eye on your sisters and keep them safe,"

"I will do my best father. I promise the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives," she quoted with a smile.

"Have I told you that you were my favorite," he questioned with a smirk. Arabella brought her finger to her chin, tapping it as if to think before smiling.

"Not recently, no," she said, her smile getting wider at the thought. She went to her father and wrapped her arms around his neck hugging him before she walked out the room.

" Go get some rest father, I am going to see if my dear husband has returned to our quarters,".

Her walk to her chambers was a lot more lively as more people were awake. She walked by the Queen's chamber and before she could turn the corner she heard the door open. She turned the corner quick and looked to see who was coming out. Low and behold it was Jaime fixing his shirt and sweat on his forehead. He had begun to turn her direction and she made a quick dash to the end of the hall and back to their room.

When she got there she leaned over the table in the room and her thoughts went a kilometer a minute. Was what her father said true. Was the Queen's children not really the Kings? Were they Jaime's? Should she pretend that what she saw didn't really happen? Should she pretend to be the dotting wife, a pretty little thing, blind to all around her? Was that who she was going to become? Would she allow herself to do so? Would she still do her duties as wife? How could she get out of this? Did she want to?

While trapped in her mind she didn't hear her husband enter their room and wrap his arms around her waist. He could tell something was on her mind, because she did not acknowledge him or his presence. He unwrapped his arms from her and grabbed her waist, turning her to him. Which earned him a quick slap to his left cheek. The look on her face when she did the action was one of pure shock and disbelief.

"I am so sorry. I didn't mean to do-," she started before he cut her off.

"No, do not apologize. I knew the risk of doing this, but I must ask. What has my little wolf so stuck in her own mind that she didn't hear me or feel me when I grabbed her," he questioned her. She took in his appearance. He was still sweating and his shirt was still messed up slightly.

"Why are you sweaty so early this morning," she asked before breaking free of his light hold and taking a step back, a look of pure curiosity on her face.

"I went to see the knights and train up a bit. I do not want to get rusty," he told her, "Now back to what was on your mind".

"Nothing just a weird dream," she said with her eyes meeting his. He got a good look at them today. They were more violet than blue today. It had to be her outfit making them change color. He wondered if she noticed it. He could feel his face making one of confusion as he stared more at his wife trying to figure out what he was really seeing.

"Have your eyes always been purple," he asked.

"What? No, they are blue. Some husband you are, don't even know my eye color. What next you won't know my hair color," she asked, rolling her eyes.

"Hmm. They just look purple today. I wanted to make sure my mind was not playing tricks on me. Well have you eaten breakfast yet,"

"No I didn't, I had just gotten dressed really and began thinking about my dream," she told him.

" Well let's get someone to bring some in. Then I'll take you on a stroll around the palace, and we can do anything else you want to do" he told her.

"Really," she questioned, "Anything"?

"I feel as though I may regret this, but yes anything. What do you have in mind,"

"Can we go down to the lower training grounds by the water"

"Why do you want to go there"

"You said anything I want, right," she questioned.

"I am a man to my word,"

"Sword fighting, you and me," she told him.

"I am not fighting you. Do you even know how to hold a sword"

"So my good brother knows of my abilities, but you don't. Hmm, maybe I was matched wrong," she said with a smirk.

"Well dear I guess I had better find out how well your abilities really are," he told her not knowing her was going to get a run for his gold later, along with deeper feelings for the woman before him.

But neither did either one know that things were in the work and their marriage was about to go through the tests of time, lies, and deaths.
