Things are Coming to Light

~This chapter is a back track for when Jaime left King's Landing. It will follow Jaime and his thought~

Jaime knew leaving his wife alone in King's Landing was stupid. He knew if father was going to have some words with him. Jaime was going to have to be on his best to deal with his father. A war was coming over Tyrion, funny to think that a half man could be the cause for the start. It took 4 days to reach the Casterly Rock, and his father had his troops out and preparing for the war when Jaime arrived.

Jaime walked in his father's tent, where the head of the Lannister's was looking over the map with other men around.

"Jaime. Everyone out, I must speak to my son," Twyin said.

"Father, just the man-," Jaime started.

"What have you done," Twyin asked. His eyes fixed on a glare looking at his oldest son. At this moment Jaime noticed a rolled up piece of parchment in his hands.

"I have come to find my brother, and go to war if I must to get him back," Jaime replied with a bored look.

"You know that is not what I am talking about," Twyin said, getting angry, his tone getting sharp.

"Well then honestly I have not the slightest of ideas," he replied.

"Leaving your wife at the capital, alone. Does that dear son ring any bells," Twyin asked, now furious with Jaime.

"She was safer there, and she does not belong out on the battlefields," Jaime replied to his father. He thought his reasons for letting her stay behind were good ones. He knew she had people around to keep her safe.

"You foolish boy, do you have any idea of what you have done,"

"I kept her safe,"

"You sent her to the slaughter house. The king had died and left Ned Stark in charge until the heir to the throne was of the rightful age. Your sister decided she didn't like that and claimed Ned Stark was committing treason and had him imprisoned. She then ordered for your wife to be brought down with him, stating that she was in on the treason. Which we both know didn't happen, because she was either always with you or around someone who kept an eye on her at all times. However your sister had ordered that the girl be killed on sight. Thankfully I had some spies in the castle and was able to get the girl out. However after that I do not know what happened to the young girl. She is out there in the wild or she is dead, but this looks bad on our family. We need to fix this, and you need to start thinking with your head because people are now seeing you as weak," Twyin explained, stepping closer to his son as he grew to the end of his rant.

"I could care less of what anyone thinks of me," Jaime replied.

"And what of your wife. Do you care less of what they think of her," Twyin rebutted, knowing that Jaime really did care for the young girl. Twyin knew the girl had something more to her than what appeared out to the public. He just wasn't sure what it was, and he had hoped his son would calm down with her around and be the man he knew Jaime could be.

"She will be fine," Jaime tried to hide his emotions at her father's statement. He knew she could handle herself, but if the Mountain was to be sent after her, he doubted she'd last the day. She was strong, smart, and knew her strengths, but he also knew she was impatient, stubborn, childish, and reckless. She would go down fighting if it meant saving a life other than her own. He knew she wanted to pick her own hand maiden and he knew why. His only hope right now was that she was able to get out of King's Landing, even if it was to go to her brother.

"She's smarter than you and Cersi are giving her credit for. What was the last you heard about her," Jaime asked.

"Last I heard was she was in Riverrun. She had just reconnected with her family. Troubling really, I had hoped we would have found her first. This makes it harder to prove she had no knowledge of the news. She was worse for wear from what I heard. Probably close to starving," Twyin said.

"No I'm sure they had eaten. Arabella could hunt, that much I know about her and her survival," Jaime told her father.

"We need to collect her back from her family. No matter the cost, it's the best way to protect her," Twyin said, leaving the tent to find his advisors.

~With Arabella~

Arabella looked at the mirror in the tent taking herself in. Her face was hollow, her eyes were more violet than blue, and her arms thin, but her abdomen was slightly protruding. Her hair was long, dirty, and tangled. She pulled the leaves and twigs from her hair as best as she could.

When she noticed her hair was free of the forest she walked over to the tub in the room she was given and decided to use a cloth and wipe some of the caked on dirt off before getting into the tub. She noticed a bucket with water in the room, and decided it would be better to deep her hair in there before getting into the tub, getting it slightly cleaner before getting into the tub. The once clear water was now a muddy color in the bucket and Arabella rang her hair out. Then she got into the clean tub and began scrubbing away her skin and hair.

When she was done she had gotten out of the water and walked back to the mirror. She took back in her appearance. Her face wasn't as hollow in appearance, but her arms were still slightly thin but looked toned from all the hunting she had done. Still surprising to her was that her abdomen was still protruding out. She brought her eyes back up noticing the tips of her hair. Her eyes were wide in shock, and she fought back the need to scream in fear. Her hair was now a silvery white in color, a complete opposite of her normally black hair. She was in such a shock that she didn't notice the door to the room open and in walked her mother and Amelia. The latter having the same look as Arabella did.

"Arabella," Catelyn called out walking slowly to the young girl. She could only assume what she was thinking at this moment.

"Amelia, go guard the door. Make sure no one comes in, I need to talk to Arabella alone," Catelyn said looking at her younger companion glaring at her, "and breathe not a word of this to anyone".

When the door shut signaling that they were alone, Arabella turned to Catelynn.

"How long did you know," Arabella said, turning to Catelynn, fear evident within her violet eyes.

"Since your father brought you home with Jon. Your hair was slightly darker then. But as you had gotten older your hair got lighter and then at one point it became the color you are seeing today. We knew we had to keep you safe. Ned had sworn to your mother to keep you safe, and I was not going to go against his word. I loved you the moment I saw you, and I could not understand why. I know I did wrong with your brother, and I will spend the rest of my life living with that guilt. I knew you were different, and I knew that you were family. Ned and I loved you just as much as we loved our own children, so do not ever doubt that. Arabella everything we did to hide who you really are was to protect you from Robert and those who wanted the Targaryen house brought to the ground," Catelyn explained to the girl as she walked over and placed a towel around her shoulders leading her to the bed.

"Then why marry me off to someone who killed the last of the Targaryens. Why not tell me or Jon when we became of age. Were you ever going to tell us," Arabella asked.

"Ned was. He had even written you a letter. This one to be more specific," Catelyn said, pulling the letter out of Arabella's travel bag.

"I know that you are confused and hurt, but we did everything to protect you. As for marrying you to the Lannisters, we knew that if they were to find out the truth they would protect you against all odds. They would know that if they needed to they could pull Robert or one of his children off the throne and place you there as the rightful heir to the throne. Jon had already decided to take the Black and we knew that he would be kept safe there away from Robert and his army. I never thought I would see the day where I had to tell you this alone, nor did I ever expect to see you find out this way. Arabella you are truly an amazing young woman, and you will go far in this world with the people who are in your corner. All I ask is that you take this knowledge and do your best to protect yourself, and your child," Catelynn said getting up from the bed and walking towards the door.

"Child," Arabella questioned, confused with the comment.

"You'll figure that one out on your own soon enough. Now get dressed you have some visitors who are dying to see you again," Catelynn said, closing the door, leaving Arabella alone with her thoughts.
