Someone To Trust

True to his word, Jaime, did not enter the tub with Arabella. When Arabella walked out of the bath and saw Jaime, he was sitting on their bed. The sheets seemed to have been replaced with a new golden silk, and made up to look like it had been unslept in. Jaime appeared to be staring out into space, and had not noticed her walking in.

Arabella silently debated teaching him a lesson about doing so, before she heard a low grumble.

"Don't even think about it little wolf," it said, "I'm not completely stupid enough to keep my guard down, even with you".

"It's scary to know that you knew what I was thinking," she told him, her eyes meeting his.

"I know what you were thinking because I have thought the same," he said with a chuckle, "Why is your hair not wet".

"I did not wish to wash it today seeing as it had just been washed before the wedding," she explained, "What's for breakfast".

"Fruits, sausage, bacon, and cakes. All the delicious things that make breakfast worth it," he tells her. She walked to the table where the food sat ready to be eaten, before looking back to see Jaime getting up to join her.

"So how long are we to hide out in our room," she asked.

"At least until tomorrow mid-day," he tells her, "We won't be questioned as much. Why bored with me already".

"Slightly yes, but I wanted to go exploring, if you would be willing to show me around," she asked.

"Not today, maybe later this week," he tells her.

"I may see my father today or sisters," she asked.

"I would advise against it," he tells her.

"Well are you going to be in this room all day," she asked, getting annoyed with him.

"No, I have matters to attend to with my father and the King's guard.

"So, I am to sit here in this room, alone all day, waiting for you to return" she asked as a fire in her eyes started to grow.

"Yes you are to sit in this room, but you will not be alone. You will be picking out a new handmaid for yourself," he told her.

"I don't need a new handmaid, I already have one whom I trust," she told him, the fire getting bigger.

"Well you need to pick a new one, I can't have you taking someone from the North with you. It would look like you are not trying to get use to the southern life you are married to," he told her, his tone getting louder and more serious to get to the point.

"Then I do not want anyone your sister recommends, do not bother sending them in. I will have my old handmaid with me to help me pick someone. I need to have someone I can trust when you are not around, and if I need to confide in someone then I need someone who will not turn on me for the highest bidder," Arabella stood up her hands slamming down on the table.

"What dear wife would you be planning to do? Destroy my house, burn King's landing, or do you have a family secret you do not wish to get out? Oh do tell I like secrets," Jaime says playfully knowing this will further ruffle her fur.

"How about when I have questions about Southern life, or I am confused about a policy that we do not have up North. What if I wanted to learn about how to better please you in bed, or how to find my way when I am lost or you are nowhere to be found. Jaime, I want someone I can trust not to make me look like a Northern fool trapped in the South for family duty," she told him explaining her case.

"Alright, fine. How about a compromise? You can have your handmaid help pick out your new one, and while getting her trained while you are here, you can have your current handmaid around to help only. When you are out of this room, the new one MUST accompany you," Jaime says, trying to please her, seeing her points in the matter. He understood how it would feel if he had someone to help he did not trust. He also knew his sister would try to undermine and control his wife if he was not careful. There had to be a middle ground and he hoped this would be it. One lesson that stuck with him as a child was "Happy wife, Happy Life".

"Okay. Thank you Jaime," she told him. The fire in her eyes burns out as she sits down to finish breakfast.

"You're welcome. I will send someone to fetch your handmaid and see about sending up ones who aren't controlled by my sister when I leave," he tells her with a nod, "I plan to see you tonight my little wolf, wearing as little as possible".

Arabella's eyes widen and her cheeks flush at the comment. She then looks down at her plate more interested in her food than her company.

After breakfast Jaime dressed for the day and left promising to send Agatha and potential replacements in.

When Agatha arrived she helped get Arabella ready dressing her in a red gown to show her new house pride.

Agatha and Arabella were sent in over a dozen of ladies. None of which seemed to fit what Arabella needed, well that was until the near to last some came in. She was pretty with brown hair and greenish grey eyes. She did not look like the others with their golden locks. Her eyes looked like they have seen a lot, but still gentle to look at. As she spoke she seemed more educated than the rest who were more boy minded. She was not afraid to speak her mind against Arabella either, which meant she didn't take shit from anyone. The questions Arabella asked were trick questions to see if the person before her thought how she truly did. When the questions were done Arabella looked back at Agatha looking to see if she approved her just as she did. Agatha gave a nod of approval.

"Well Amelia, you seemed to have passed my questionnaire and expectations of finding someone who I think I can start to trust. Would you be interested in becoming my handmaid and like Agatha my closest friend," Arabella asked, hoping that the young woman before her agreed to it. Amelia seemed to be deep in thought before smiling at the pair before her nodding in agreeance. Great Arabella thought, her smile was big on her face as she knew that this woman would be the one. Agatha walked out the room to dismiss the other ladies, as Amelia and Arabella spent time learning about each other. Both women had an interest in sword fighting, and speaking out against what they believed was wrong. The only interest Ameila showed in Jaime was about his sword fighting, otherwise she said she was not interested in men of his caliber. Which left both women laughing and in tears. As the day continued into night Amelia, or Ami as she preferred, decided to call it a night, but she would be back tomorrow mid-morning to see if she was needed. As Arabella told her to give Jaime his time with her knowing that he was going to want her again to produce his heir.

Jaime returned much later than Arabella expected, and he went to wash up then straight to bed. Leaving Arabella confused as to what had happened during his day, though she would not complain as she was still quite sore from the night before.
