While Clarice lived in foster home after foster home. The first one she was in after being caught as a mutant. The people who took mutants in for money, they starved mutants and didn't let them eat, sleep, or drink.

Clarice till this day still does those things when she's feeling down and depressed.

When the foster parents don't like what Clarice or other mutants did even if it wasn't wrong they would shoot them in the stomach or side just because it would give them more money for taking in more mutants.
