The Federation, or the United Federation of Planets, is an interstellar federal republic, composed of planetary governments that agree to exist semi-autonomously under a single central government, and to share their knowledge and resources in peaceful cooperation, scientific development,and defensive purposes.
It was one of the three organizations, the other two being the Nova Corps and the Dark Order, that was responsible for providing peace and order to the galaxies. However, with the destruction of the Novas and the enmity of the Dark Order, we had no choice but to plead to the Federation for help.
Max was dubious about the plan." Sir, the Federation and the Novas have a rocky history. Do you think they will help us?"
"Let's just hope." I replied." They are in charge of protecting the galaxies too."
" We're almost there." Tania spoke." We need to drop out of warp in three,two,one-now!"
I switched off the warp reactor, and we dropped out of warp. We were in the Alpha Quadrant, where the headquarters of the Federation is located. We sped towards it, the biggest planet in the system.
" We can't sneak in." Tania warned." We need to announce our arrival."
As if on cue, the comm beeped. I switched it on.
"This is Commer Travis on behalf of the United Federation of Planets. Unidentified ship, please identify yourself before you progress any further."
Tania took over." This is Lieutenant Tania Asimov, First Officer of the U.S.S. Slevin, requesting permission to dock."
There was a shuffling of papers and furious typing in a keyboard. Then we heard the shocked voice of the communicator." Did y..you just say U.S.S. Slevin?"
She rolled her eyes." Yes. We need to dock."
There was a slight pause before he spoke." You've been cleared for approach. Please proceed to Launching Pad 5."
I switched off the comm. Steering the ship, we entered the planet's atmosphere and landed as told.
Exiting the ship, we found a landing party waiting for us. A band of soldiers stood with their weapons raised. My hand automatically went to my holster.
" That won't be needed." A man of about forty, tall and slim, walked up to us. He wore a thin smile on his face as he extended his hand for greeting." They are just doing their duty."
I shook his hand without a word.
"So,if you would follow me, Admiral Hansen wishes to speak to you." He motioned for us to follow.
We walked down a narrow hallway. We saw Federation employees huddled over their computers, busy with their jobs. Some looked up with questioning eyes, but we ignored them.
Reaching the office, he pushed open the door." She's waiting for you."
We walked into a huge room, octagonal in shape, absolutely speckless. The walls were adorned with pictures of whom I guessed to be former Federation heroes. A group of people who were busy talking stopped as we entered.
" Come in, please." The Admiral called to us. She looked to be about fifty, but looked quite healthy and young for her age.
She turned to Tania." I must say,it has been quite a surprise for us. We thought you were dead."
Tania looked at her angrily." Of course you would. You never even searched for us! This is what I get after a service of there years?"
"Now, now. Let's not dwell on the past." She cooed." You are safe and sound."
Tania huffed but said nothing.
I coughed." Madam, if I may?"
She turned to me." Yes?"
"My name is Captain Steve Fleming of the Nova Corps. We've come here seeking your help to end this war which is tearing the universe apart."
She sat down." It's easy for you to say. Everyone is struggling with the war. We're rapidly losing our fleet as our enemies cross our borders. Till we are capable of sustaining ourselves, the Nova Corps have to do without our help."
" The Novas are destroyed."
Her eyes darted up to meet mine." What?"
I repeated.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Only a few of us are left."
She looked dejected." Then there is no more hope. It is impossible for us to stand alone." "Why not?" Max argued." You possess a huge fleet. Your defenses are one of the best in the universe. You are our last chance."
I proceeded to tell her the incidents over the past few days. How we got the orb. How we were intercepted. How we learnt that we had been carrying an Infinity Stone. How we nearly died but were saved. And now the Master was on his way to reclaim the lost Stones to control the universe.
She listened quietly as I spoke.
"So, as you can see, you are our last hope. Your army, your fleet- they can be the deciding factor." I reasoned.
" If everything is as you say,then we are just a tiny speck in an indifferent universe. It would be like going with bows and arrows against a full-scale army."
I looked at the person who said it. He was about thirty-seven, dark blond hair, about 6ft and an average build. His blue eyes bore into mine.
"We have no choice, Captain Kirk." The Admiral spoke up." If what Captain Fleming says is true, then we need to prepare for the worst."
He relaxed. " Fine. But don't tell me that-"
" Yes." She cut him off.
"Fine." He grumbled. The Admiral turned to me." Captain Kirk will lead you to your ship. You will have access to all weapons and supplies."
"Thanks." Tania said gruffly.

Admiral Hansen smiled." The Novas and the Federation never got along. That's why we didn't interfere in the Infinity War. But that time we need to put aside our differences, and work together to survive."

"So, this is your ship." Kirk pointed it out to us." It is the best we have, complete with all state-of-the-art facilities."
It was truly a magnificent ship. Sleek, huge,and powerful- the U.S.S. Victor.
" Thank you." I sincerely meant it.
" You're welcome."

Max looked at the ship in awe. I too have to admit that it looked a lot like the Jackal. A pang of hurt flowed through my heart as the image of my ship's destruction came back to me.

"Jim!"
We looked back to see someone running up to us. He was tall, well-built, about forty or so. His ears were sharp and pointed. He was a Vulcan.

" Jim." He looked at Kirk." They are asking for you at the depot."
" Me? But why?" He asked.
"No idea. Dr. McCoy told me to tell you to hurry."
" Fine, Spock." He grumbled. Turning to us, he told us that we could examine the ship as much as we wanted and that he would be back soon. We nodded.
" Now what?" Tania asked me.
" We prepare."

The next few days passed by quickly. All of us were busy preparing with the imminent war. Every day we would receive news that the enemy was closing in, but that couldn't deter us. We examined our ships, stocked our ammo, stored supplies and med kits.

Kirk's initial coldness towards us soon wained and he soon proved to be a great asset. He was sympathetic towards us on learning that we had lost our crew in a battle. He and his men were most helpful to us.

Two days after our arrival, I got my first message from Dr. Strange. My face became dark, and I stormed off towards the headquarters. The others were already there.
" We have a situation" was the first thing I said as I stormed into the room.
All eyes were on me now. I could see the surprise in their eyes, and I took their silence as my cue to continue.

" The Master has already found the last Stone. His army has been amassed."
Pin-drop silence. One could have heard a pin fall.
I then dropped the final bomb.
" We have calculated his current trajectory. We know where he's headed for."

Silence.

" His target.....is Earth."

The next few moments were a blur. Everyone was in a hurry. People shouted instructions. They sprinted.
Double-checked their ships for the last time. Pilots scrambled to their positions. On getting the signal,they took off.

I sprinted to my ship along with Tania and Max. We didn't have a lot of time in hand. Our crew was already waiting for us.

I sat on the Captain's chair. Images of my old crew flashed before my eyes, but I removed them. On getting the signal, we took off. 
As we reached the upper atmosphere of the planet, I transmitted a message throughout the entire ship.

"Crew of the Victor, this is Captain Fleming. As you know, our destination is for Earth. Our mission, is to stop this dark entity called the Master, before he destroys the entire universe. Everyone is counting on you. Good luck."
Tania smirked." Damn, did you practice it beforehand,or just make it up?"
I smiled as I turned on the warp reactor. With a WHIZ!, we entered the hyperspace, for Earth.

It took exactly three seconds to reach Earth. The others had already arrived. I marvelled at the whole fleet of the Federation before me. I had always heard rumours, and now I believed them. With this at our side, we stood a chance.
Our comms beeped. I switched it on.
"Steve," Jim's voice called out." The airspace is protected. We've got it covered. But we need someone to lead our group assault team. Someone with a natural turn for leadership and a skilled fighter. Can you?"

I replied in the affirmative." Max, you heard what he said. Beam me and Tania on the ground. In my absence, you'll lead the air strike."
" But Captain." he appeared dubious.
" Do it, Max. We need some people to cover the ground. The airspace is protected."
Still unhappy, he nodded. I and Tania walked up to the warp core, where we're beamed down to the planet's surface. There we found the ground team ready and assembled, and waiting for my order. I assumed command and waited.
" Do you think it's the right thing to do?" Tania asked." Leaving him alone up there?"
I nodded." Max is a skilled First Officer. And there's more to him than appearances suggest. You'll see." She shrugged.
I took in a deep breath. It has been three years since I left Earth, yet I still feel it's pull. I'd always dreamt of my return here, but I'd hoped it would be under better circumstances.
" Here they come." Tania's body flexed as she readied herself.
I looked up. Sure enough, the war had begun. Ship against ship, fighter against fighter, the dominance for the air had started. The sky became red with the detonations and explosions.

" There they are!" Someone shouted. In the distance, I saw a portal open up. All types of horrible creatures emerged from it. Aliens, zombies, indemnified humans, corpses- all your worst nightmares came charging at us.
The worst part? The main army was yet to come.
"Now what?" Tania asked as she reloaded her weapon.
My grip tightened on my blaster.
" We fight."

So Steve and his friends arrive on Earth and the Battle finally starts. Another Infinity War! Oh I'm so excited! Question is, will they win?
