Gabriel helped her get out of bed and he walked her over to Emelie's room where she lied dead still.
Her skin had already began loosing color and now her whole body was very cold, almost as if her perfect porcelain skin had cracked because of the coldness. Nathalie brought her hand up to Emelie's face and as she brushed along the outline of her profile she couldn't help but think back to a few days ago when they-...
"Is everything alright?" Gabriel brought Nathalie back into reality.
"Mhm yeah, just memories..."
Memories, memories of what would've happened if Gabriel wasn't there and Emelie wouldn't have ordered Nathalie to go away.
She could almost imagine it, but as soon as she looked back at the lifeless body Nathalie immediately forgot all of her thoughts.
"What did she die from? She fainted and-?"
"The doctor said it's from unknown causes."
"I think-...I think I know." Nathalie glanced down at her own hands and she could almost visualize blood running down them, the blood of Emelie.
Emelie's second chance at life was a complete coincidence, since Amelie accidentally gave her enough power to gain strength to wake up.
So if it wasn't for the peacock miraculous she wouldn't have been alive and as Nathalie remembered that just one day ago she renounced Duusu, meaning she put the miraculous away. What if with that she also put away Emelie's life?
"I killed her"
"What?"
"It's my fault! I killed her! IT WAS AN ACCIDENT I SWEAR! GABRIEL PLEASE DONT HURT ME!"
"W-what? Why would I hurt you? Nathalie are you alright? Please explain what you've been thinking."
"I-I renounced Duusu just a couple of days ago and-and Duusu gave life to Emelie in the first place so what if-"
"You renounced her life?"
"Yes...I'm so sorry, I didn't know...you don't need to say it's fine, because it's not fine to kill someone." Nathalie turned away ashamed of herself, but how could have she known that this would be the consequence.
"But that means-...if you would bring back Duusu."
"She would be alive again?"
"Probably-...but I'm not asking you to do that since the miraculous is still broken and it could injure you." Gabriel took a step towards her and softly pressed her against him only to feel her fragile body shaking in fear. He tried to wipe her tears away by tilting her face in his direction but Nathalie kept shaking her head and eventually she moved away from Gabriel.
"B-but if it means you'll be happy, I'd do it-"
"Nathalie! Haven't I told you already I only want you and you alone? Please believe me, I don't need her anymore."
"Even if that-...I haven't said my goodbye, I haven't told her how I felt and most importantly I-I didn't get the chance to apologize."
Once again her hand slid across Emelie's perfectly smooth skin, reminding Nathalie just how flawless of a woman she was and how beautiful all of her features were.
"Apologize for what?"
"For the way I ruined you two, you were so perfect and then I came along-"
"I didn't have feelings for her anymore, and you made me realize that."
"WELL WHAT ABOUT ADRIEN? I RUINED HIM!! HE HATES ME AND HE HATES YOU!
WHAT ABOUT EMELIE HERSELF? SHE STILL LOVES YOU! AND I-I-I love her...I also love you Gabriel b-but I'm not ready to-"
"It's alright love-...take your time, I'll be waiting for you." Nathalie still lost in her thoughts and completely frozen in the middle of the room, Gabriel took the chance to once again come closer to her and comfort the trembling woman in front of him.
"I'll be here forever" Gabriel's soft voice echoed through the room.
"But I don't know if I'll ever make it back to you-...I just love her so much."
"I understand, and I'm not asking you to stop, in fact do whatever makes you happy because that'll also make me incredibly happy to see that divine smile of yours."
As Nathalie nodded all of her tears fell to the ground and although she could have gotten used to getting held in Gabriel's arms forever, right now she just needed a bit of space.
She made a desperate escape and ran towards the door, in a blink of an eye she was already gone and Gabriel was the one to stand in the middle of the room all frozen and destroyed.
He took a glance at Emelie who was once his wife and as he slowly sat down on the chair next to Emelie's death bed he fell deep into his thoughts where he recalled all of their memories.

*meanwhile*

Nathalie finally made it outside and when she stopped her running all she could see was a beautiful garden full of sick/disabled people. She started to back away but she accidentally bumped into one of Emelie's nurses, and as both women exchanged eye contact the nurse lady quickly walked away from her whilst apologizing about a million times.
Nathalie still a bit too shocked to process what happened, she just sat down on a bench and hid her hideous face away in her palms.
"What's wrong dear?" An elderly voice got her so scared she almost jumped up from the bench.
"I-I...uhm someone special to me d-died."
"Someone special?" The old lady shifted closer to Nathalie and gave her a wink which got Nathalie all flustered and nervous.
"Umm yes m-my b-best f-friend."
"Best friend?"
"Why do you ask like that? It's very creepy!"
"I just know that's not the truth, and I'm just another curious old lady who can't mind her own business, so won't you tell me what you where crying about darling?"
