(4) Beautiful Soul

"Gabriel?" His mother peeked inside of his room and quietly opened the door to notice Gabriel fast asleep in his bed.

She walked over to him and kissed his forehead, she noticed wet streaks down his face and knew he had cried himself to sleep.

"I'm sorry your beautiful and innocent soul was born into such a cut throat pack." She raised his blanket and tucked him in bed. Backed out of the room and made her way toward her mates office.

She noticed her mate sitting behind the desk, not even bothering to look up from his paperwork. She walked up to the desk and sat right on the edge.

"You made my son cry himself to sleep." She crossed her arms over her chest.

Michael didn't bother to look up her just shrugged his shoulders and continued looking at the pack documents with such a stern expression upon his face.

"He'll get over it," Was all he said.

"Why must you treat such a precious child so harshly?"Addilyn asked.

Alpha Michael looked up and smiled at his mate. "Have I ever told you how beautiful you are?" He looked at her with adoration in his face but there was a cold stare in his almost black eyes, not emitting any type of warmth as his face was.

"Why do you treat your son so harshly?!" Addilyn now yelled as she stood up and slammed her hands against the desk.

"HE IS NOT MY SON!!!" Michael shouted and stood up.

By instinct he gripped a hand around her throat as he squeezed slightly but she only looked at him with hate and disgust, she showed no pain or anguish in her face as her mother taught her to show no weakness to any man.

"He is weak and the pack runt! I couldn't have helped create such a helpless child," He snarled in her face.

He realized the situation they were currently in and soon enough his wolf whimpered and began kissing and licking her neck to get rid of the bruises and to apologize for his earlier actions.

"He's only 11 Michael, he's such a sweet boy. Why don't you show him some compassion," Addilyn said as he finished licking her bruises.

"I don't need a sweet son Addilyn, I need a strong one with a sense of great leadership who shall take my when time due and bring this pack even higher than I have," Michael said as he grabbed her hand and kissed the back of it, his wolf trying to comfort her.

He looked at her with his nearly black eyes and looked into her hazel eyes, emotionless and cold..

"I miss looking into your eyes, they were the reason why green is my favorite color but now all I see is your wolf when I look at you," She sighed as she gently patted the side of his face with clear disappointment written all over hers.

Michael growled at her and then shook his head.

"I don't see a future for him if he doesn't change Addilyn, I need someone capable of leading our warriors into battle, not someone who wants to avoid violence and give hugs," Michael growled.

"But that's just his personality, there's nothing wrong with that," Addilyn smiled, thinking of how sweet her son was. He was always the type of child to give someone a hug whenever he sensed that there was something wrong, no questions asked just hugs and gentle kisses. It always warmed Addilyn's heart to know she was actually capable of giving birth to someone with so much love and compassion in their heart, something she nearly lost herself.

"Has your son made you soft?" Michael questioned, staring at her curiously.

"OUR SON has brought love back into my heart and joy into my life, something that was nearly taken from me by being the Luna of this pack for so long," Addilyn spat. This was only half true, all her life growing up in her parent's harsh pack she was taught that pain was necessary for strength and being cruel and sometimes heartless was what was needed for a pack to survive and grow in strength and numbers. She has always believed this and lived by these rules until she gave birth to Gabriel whom seemed like an angel to come and shine light in such a dark world. He was the only person who made her feel warm inside and showed her that a love so pure can be made from two heartless individuals.

Truthfully, Addilyn didn't love Michael anymore, only her wolf loved him due to their connection and her wolf loved his power until Gabriel was born. When he was born, her wolf fell in love and became protective of her special little pup. Gabriel reminded Addilyn that there was still beauty in this world and sweet things could come out of something like Alpha Michael.

"Don't I bring love into your heart?" Michael asked. Heartbreak was clear in his eyes as his wolf felt the clear hurt from her words.

"You let your wolf control everything about you and it's turned you both cold, you lost your humanity," Addilyn said.

"Get out," Michael snarled.

She held her head up high as she walked out of his office, slamming the door behind her.

"Mommy were you and daddy fighting?" Addilyn looked down to see Gabriella staring up at her.

"No we weren't fighting, just a heated discussion," She smiled at her daughter.

Gabriella reminded her of Michael even at a young age, loud, center of attention, obnoxious and aggressive while Gabriel was the complete opposite.

He was a sweet boy, quiet and to himself but always thought about others first. Him and Michael definitely did not get along and often clashed but all he wanted was his fathers approval because his ultimate dream was to become Alpha of this pack. He had this idea in his head of being so much better than any other Alpha he has met before and making it into history books as the Alpha who made a difference.

"Two people that love each other shouldn't fight," Gabriella said.

Addilyn frowned and then picked up the child and carried her to her room.

"Stop frowning and love daddy!" Gabriella shouted in her mothers face as she grabbed her ears and slightly tugged on them.

"I do love your father I'm just a little mad at him," Addilyn forced herself to say as she forced a smile.

She placed her daughter in bed and tucked her in.

"Gabriella you're right, two people that love each other shouldn't fight," Michael said from the doorway of the room staring over at his two girls.

Addilyn sighed and kissed Gabriella's forehead.

"May the Moon Goddess guide you in your dreams little one," She muttered and then got up to walk away. She flicked the light off and felt a hand caress her back as she quietly closed the door.

"My wolf doesn't like fighting with you Lyn," Michael said as he grabbed her wrist to stop her from walking away too soon.

"Only your wolf?" She asked.

"Yes,"

She chuckled to herself and then turned to him.

She looked into his eyes and saw only the eyes of his wolf, dark nearly black. She missed his green eyes, how enchanting they were and beautiful. Such a bright color she's never seen before, so much hope in one persons eyes all faded and gone. Nothing left but hollowness.

"What happened to you?" Addilyn asked as she caressed his cheek and sighed.

"Lyn it's just a genetic defect that's been in the family for centuries, somewhere along te lines one of my family members made it possible to allow their wolf spirit to fully control them while they sat in the shadows of their mind. Now once we get to a certain age our wolves take over not fully but mostly. I don't know why but it just happens and so far nothing bad has ever happened to anyone in my family," Michael tried to explain.

"I hate it," Addilyn said.

"Lyn nothing bad has happened, sometimes you just have to fight so your wolf doesn't take fully charge, our wolf spirits want nothing but the best for our mates and packs, as long as your spirit is strong there should be no problems,"

"What happens if one of our children have the spirit of a rogue wolf?" Addilyn yelled.

Michael snorted and nearly laughed.

"Those are extremely rare, don't be so dramatic woman,"

"I'm saying this because my father had the spirit of a rogue wolf, they may sound stupid but they are scary. It made him destroy and corrupt everything, he used to beat and rape my mother all the time...he was a monster." Lyn looked down and closed her eyes, trying not to think back during those days of her old pack.

"Addilyn people aren't born monsters, they are created that way,"

They are made that way.
