(2) Future Alpha

Nine year old Gabriel sat in the grass with a book in his hand while his mother chased around his 3 year old little sister whom his parents seem to give their attention to a lot more lately but that was fine with him, he preferred reading and researching about wolves and Alphas. He knew one day his father was going to make him Alpha of this pack and he wanted to be the best, better than his father and his father before him. Gabriel wanted to be the most known Alpha all around, he just wanted a name for himself.

"Gabriel what are you reading?" This mother asked as she held a screaming Gabriella upside, her kicking and squirming.

"I got it from the pack library, it's a book on pure bred Alphas and the connection with their wolves, how their wolves could make them even stronger than they were before they shifted," He showed his mother excitedly.

All Gabriel talked about was being an Alpha and ruling over the pack, he couldn't wait until his 18th birthday, the day he would finally shift. The day that everything that was rightfully his would be passed over to him. As he got older all became obsessed with was getting stronger and the duties of an Alpha. All the books he read he realized history books only talked about the ruthless and merciless Alphas, what about the kind Alpha's? The ones who used reason instead of violence, what about the ones who cared for their pack members and treated them well, the ones who would rather resolve issues over a conversation instead of losing precious lives in a war. He wanted to be like those Alphas.

she chuckled and sat down beside Gabriel with a still, screaming Gabriella in her arms.

"Why don't you enjoy your childhood years first before you worry about your alpha years, I promise you'll regret concerning yourself with your adult years instead of enjoying the simple things, being an Alpha won't always be fun and games," She looked into his warm hazel eyes and smiled.

"I know I know mommy, but I just want to be as strong and fearless as daddy, I want to be the best Alpha ever. I want to make sure I do a good job and will be written down in history books," He said excitedly.

"And you will be, but for now help me with your screaming sister, she's such a handful of a child, honestly the exact opposite of you," she said and sat the still screaming Gabriella on the ground next to Gabriel.

She fell back into the grass with her tiny fist and feet banging on the ground...still screaming.

"Ugh I don't know what to do with this child!" Addilyn exclaimed and stood up as she walked away towards the house.

"Gabriella shhhh! You're making mommy upset," Gabriel tried to quiet her down. He still didn't like her name, it was too close to his and he wanted to be the only Gabriel...but he still loved his sister despite her name.

She stopped screaming and looked over at Gabriel with a serious expression plastered on her face.

"No," She said before she continued screaming and banging her tiny fist into the ground.

"You're such a little baby," Gabriel rolled his eyes as he placed the book down next to him on the ground.

She stopped screaming and stuck her tongue out at him and then laughed.

He picked up his book again and turned to the page of a giant midnight black wolf on the full page.

"What's that?" Gabriella pointed at the picture not fully sitting up next to him in curiosity.

"That's what I'm going to be when I grow up, I'm going to be a really big wolf and I'm gonna be big and powerful and super helpful and kind," Gabriel said cheerfully and excitedly.

"What's an apha?" Gabriella questioned as she cocked her head to the side in confusion.

"I'm an Alpha Gabby darling, I'm in charge of everything in our home and territory," Alpha Michael came up behind Gabriel and Gabriella and looked down.

"I wanna be in charge!" Gabriella squealed up at Alpha Michael with such a demand in her voice.

"Who knows Gabby darling, you just might be one day," Michael chuckled playfully.

Gabriel looked at his father with a heart broken expression, he was the eldest and he knew it was his place to be next in line to be Alpha, he thought he was going to be the future Alpha of the pack and prove that he could be one of the greatest.

Michael noticed Gabriel's distress and gave him a quick wink and a smile before picking up the yelling Gabriella who continued to yell "I WANNA BE IN CHARGE!!"

Gabriel let out a sign of relief and went back to reading his book, his father was only saying that to rile Gabriella up. He had no intentions of putting her in charge, after all she was the youngest and she was a girl, there were no known women Alpha's in history.

"You know you'll have to start your combat training when you turn 11 right?" Michael said as he hung the screaming Gabriella upside down as she started punching him in the side, trying to assert her dominance.

"I know I'm so excited! Ill get to train with everyone else and show them how strong I am!" Gabriel said excitedly.

He placed the book down on his lap and flexed his small and lanky arms for his dad to show off how strong he was.

"Let's hope you develop some strength because you are on the smaller side for a young Alpha pup compared to when I was your age or even compared to this one," Michael pointed at Gabriella who continued screaming and punching her father in the leg.

"I'll grow up and be bigger than everyone else in the pack, don't worry!" Gabriel said as he grinned at his father, oblivious to the fact that he was indeed smaller than most Alpha pups as far as weight and height which slightly worried Alpha Michael. Gabriel was born as what you would consider the runt of the pack, nearly dying from having such a weak heart and born one of the smallest pups in the pack as far as weight, there were omegas in the pack born bigger than him and that considered both Addilyn and Michael, they wanted their strong to grow up strong so he could continue the family reign in the pack but if he were to continue being weak and small than that would be nearly impossible. The first defense of a pack starts with how strong their Alpha is.

"Alright Gabe if you say so, let's see how strong you'll get," Michael said, carrying away the still screaming Gabby as she tried to squirm from his grip and aim for his face.

No matter what anyone said, Gabriel knew he was destined to be something great and in his mind that meant him becoming the Alpha of the Bloodshed pack. This idea was planted in his mind and grew into an obsession of his that he had to see through no matter what.

The Bloodshed pack was known to be one of the powerful packs in their region, one of the strongest and largest armies and they were known for their fierce combative skills, and ruthless regime for their soldiers from the start of age 11. Friendships were rarely made within the pups at the age because once training started it soon turned into a competition of who was the strongest, the harder and longer the training went on the more the weaker pups fell behind and eventually de ranked to disgrace their family name. The strongest honored their family name, bringing them closer to the Alpha family and the recognition from the entire pack. This was a system to push everyone to do better and to single out the weak ones who didn't deserve to be in the pack.

Only the strongest pups were granted permission to serve in the Alpha's highest ranking Army, it gave recognition to their family. Gabriel was unaware of how cut throat it was going to be to train as the future Alpha of the pack, he had very high expectations over his head that he must be forced to meet or else the position will be passed down to the next of kin. Something that has been never done before.
