°•Entry Twelve - Part One•°

12/2/3470,
Fear Landscape,

City Fountain,

The frost cold wind blew my hair around my face. I walked towards a fountain where I saw Rafael was seated. He gave me a glare and I picked up my pace. He glared down at what I was wearing.

"A tank top? Ripped jeans? Is this a joke. Go and get changed into something more equipped." He snapped  than pointed to a bench with black leather jeans and a matching t-shirt hanging over the side. I walked over and snatched them up. Then I paused.

"Did you make a bet that I would wear this?" I asked. I mean, why else would he of put clothes out for me. He replied only with a smirk before turning around. I pulled on the tight jeans and then decided to put my t-shirt over my tank top, just encase I got warm.

I finally finished and bounced towards him. He kept a poker face but I was sure I saw the ghost of a smile in there. The cold wind nipped at my nose and ears as we trekked into the forest. I was lagging behind, as Rafael basically ran through the dark trees. I think he could hear me panting because he stopped and started at a slower pace.

"So-uh- What are- Uh- We doing?" I panted. He tapped the side of his nose and carried on walking. I scowled and followed. It felt like we had been walking for months, years. We eventually walked out into a clearing. the grass was a lot greener than it was in the camp. Flowers sprouted out of the ground everywhere and I had to walk in zig zags to prevent myself from standing on them.

"Right. First I am going to teach you the basics of throwing a knife. You need to be able to defend yourself when your out of the camp." He said. I paused.

"You only have one knife with you" I stated. He smiled and pulled it out.

"When everyone is born, our parents create a dagger for us. Not for comabat but as a symbol that we have the strength to do what has to be done." He explained as he started to pace. I sat down realizing that an explanation was coming my way.

"Our parents design a unique patter or picture that only we have. It represents a part of us. Now, we usually get given our daggers on our twenty first birthday. But, since we probably wont see our parents ever again, the scientists have the decency to transport the dagger here. All you have go do is find it." He elaborated.

"Now, lucky for you, you won't have to trek the whole landscape to find it. Remember when we first met? And you asked if I had watched the  ceremony from here and I said I had more pressing matters to attend to?" He stopped pacing and sat in front of me.

"Well, when you materialized here. I just so happened to be hunting. I was creeping up to a grey wolf. I was just about to strike when a dagger flew down from the air and hit the wolf. I picked up the dagger and studied it. I must be honest. It was the most beautiful dagger I have ever seen. And just below the metal was the name scarlet."

"Since we only have about five women here it wasnt hard to find you." He reached into a pouch he had on his side.

He slowly pulled out a red and black dagger. He held out his hand. I reached out to grab it, but as soon as my fingers grazed its smooth hilt he snatched it away. I frowned at him.

"Hey, that belongs to me." I shouted. His lips curved up to a playful smile as I stared to balance the tip on his finger.

"Then fight for it." He smirked.

I took this as permission to tackle him. I lunged for him. My feet digging into the grass. He stepped to the left and I failed to stop in time so I sailed past him. As soon as I stopped I turned around and ran at him again. This time he stepped to the right but I caught him. We both fell to the ground. I reached for the danger but he threw it up into the air. Next thing I knew I was in the mud and he was back on his feet. He looked like a cat who had succeeded in killing the mouse.

"I cant beat you." I sighed. He must have heard the defeat in my voice because his face fell to a guilty expression. He extended a tanned hand. I grabbed it as he hurled me up with immense strength. His hand lingered on mine. I pulled it away and took a step back.

"So, are you going to teach me anything or not?" I snapped. He raised his hands above his shoulders. Then started to walk over to a nearby tree.

He stopped opposite a dark oak and beckoned for me to come. I stomped over. He looked puzzled for a second.

"Stand with you right foot slightly in front of your left." He said as he moved my leg an inch forward.

"Then draw you hand back, and as you bring it forward move you left leg forward." He instructed. I did as followed. I brought my hand back then flung the blade forward. It spun through the air.

Then I heard a loud thump.
