Pero sa totoo lang, I already did this in R&D. Somewhere in the last third chapters I introduced a whole species and their planets. Yes, "planets" - for two major societal factions called the Rikish-Quant that inhabits the "the green ornament" planet, and the Rikish-Gakuran at the forest moon of the Gakuran cluster boarder.

The Rikish are small angelic people with telepathic capabilities, but more importantly they are the most loving and peaceful race in the whole galaxy. Dreamy right?

About ten years ago, bumuo ako ng concept entitled "The Misadventures of Bob and Kai". Dito lahat nagsimula.

I made sketches, story lines, characters etc. etc. But it all got buried by the hardships of real life. While I was busy at surviving the Filipino way of life, the concept floated in my subconscious world.

Kaya siguro masasabi ko na malawak ang source influence ng R&D.

One source influence is Einstein's space-time bending theory. And aside from my infatuation to the Final Fantasy games and movies, I would say that one inspiration would definitely come from my curiosity as to how the Filipino culture would survive the space age. One of the reviewers here already noticed it.

It was called "What Poor Children Play". It was unfinished, un-edited and unforgettable for me that it still pinches my heart at the potentiality of the work.

It talks about Filipino life, and the dreams swept away by reality and the constant shame amongst ourselves.

At work, I practically invented the "ungas-moves" and the "ninja department" (maraming kwento dito ay hahahaha).

Inspiration, for writing in general, uhmm, this is kinda hard to explain. Well maybe because I notice things, small things; that sometimes it just pops out. Habang naglalakad sa kalsada, sa dyip, sa banyo, basta may lumalabas na lang na idea.

Often when I'm drunk or almost drunk, I would come up with a concept or a poem-line that are so beautiful and wicked, pero pag-gising ko sa umaga nakalimutan ko na lahat. Nakakaasar hehe.

So I don't know, maybe my inspiration is drinking?

Oh man, not suitable for aspiring young authors.

Maniwala ka sa hindi, pag-dating sa fantasy, ang mga influence ko ay ang Conan the Barbarian, Macross, atsaka Thundercats. Pati narin mga DC-Vertigo comics like Sandman and Lucifer, they are quite an inspiration. I'm a fan of Neil Gaiman.

On the local side, the original Carlo J. Caparas "Ang Panday", was a benchmark as well.

Back when I was a kid living near the U.S. Naval base. They had their own TV network called FEN. At dito talaga ako nahumaling. I was a child of the original Gene Rodenberry series - Star Trek.

The original series with William Shatner and Leonard Nemoy was an icon for me; even though it was made long before my time. De-pukpok pa yung cathode ray tube TV namin nun, pero nganga talaga ako sa show.

And some may argue that Star Trek is not a fantasy show, but if you have a decent understanding of science, you will agree that the concept is half fantasy.

So when I heard that JJ Abrams was gonna do the remake of the film, I really wanted to audition as Khan-- kaso ang galing ni Benedict Cumberbatch aysus,.. no match.

And then, when I was twelve (I think) I saw the anime movie "World of the Talisman", and it blew me away.

Hahahaa, this could be a very long lecture.

Well the best tip I could give so far, before anything else like writing techniques and styles, is for a writer to find their "creative direction".

It's like the Internal Moral Compass that tells an individual what is right or wrong, what to do or not to do; the creative direction will point a writer to his/her destiny.

Fanfictions are good practice, and cheesy generic romance themes are also good. But! Creativity is something else entirely.

If a writer knows where his story is going, the clarity of the imagination is transferred to the reader.

In short, "The Quick Guide to Fantasy Writing" by Aftermat is a must read hahahahaha.

Sa fave book, madami talaga, pati classics like "Great Expectations".

But you may be surprised to know that the works that influenced me deeply are those from poets. Literary artists like E.E. Cummings, Oscar Wilde, William Butler Yeats, Jack Prelutsky and of course ang aking idol (although hindi sya poet) walang iba kundi si.....tsaran! Si Jose, hehehehe.

This is actually an easy one.

Every StarWars geek would probably choose the Sarlaac coz JarJar is quite a torture, but having my fair share of impossible friends, I think I will survive him fairly.

Oh man, pinag-aawayan na'to ng mga geeks actually. All those theories that Rey is Luke's daughter, or Han & Lea's, hahaha kulang na lang magka-civil war dahil dyan.

Anyways, my guess is that from JJ's point of view is that he will introduce a different bloodline altogether that will again bring balance to the force.

The same manner how Anakin came to be will bring another from a different line or source.

Luke found this out, and when he became Jedi he acquired the same skill as Yoda's power to see the forthcoming, hence hiding Rey since she was little.

What people failed to understand, or even the Jedi order failed to recognize was that Anakin, was indeed the prophesized chosen one, to bring balance to the force but they somehow misinterpreted that as the side of light, wherein he was actually balance on the dark side.

So Anakin did indeed brought balance to the force.

But now that the new order and the darkside has shifted into a much greater force than the good, another chosen one will bring balance to the force and bring the "light".

Like the yin & yang, it is a cycle of balance like a spiral of god & evil.

That's how I understand it, and that's how I'd do it, but hey, I'm just like any other speculator out there, right? Hahaha.

Believe it or not, I came from a family of athletes, boxers & martial artists. So there's no one in the family for me to inherit the skills. But ever since grade school I've always wanted to play.

Inggit ako parati sa music class kasi hindi ako makabili kahit nung mumurahing "diyes-diyes" na gitara. Mahirap ang buhay noon.

So when I entered high-school and met my buddy, Joel (now-pastor Joel). Who taught me my first three chords, yun na, the rest are history.

And I'm proud that my son now is a much better player than I was. At least I taught him something beautiful, other than punching people in the face (I tried teaching him that too, he wasn't good at it).
