Hyper Light Zero: (Zenless Zone Zero x Male Drifter Reader)

Plot and setting:

The City of New Eridu, the last city on Earth home to not only humans but various other species as well.

New Eridu stands as the last habitable home on Earth, a sanctuary against the Hollow crisis.

Hollows are an odd phenomanon where an area gets engulfed by an odd black sphere twisting said area and corrupting any and all who enter turning them all into monsters known as Ethereals.

This is due to Ether Energy which is abundant within Hollows and corrupts any sentient beings turning them into Ethereals.

Hollow Zero was by far the biggest Hollow that hit new Eridu and most devestating.

Hollow Zero:

Thankfully to combat the Hollow crisis 7 Legendary Heroes became the first ever Void Hunters.

Void Hunters being individuals with a high tolerence to Ether corruption would enter the Hollows and combat the Ethereals within or perform other missions usually resulting in the Hollows disappearing completely.

Smaller Hollows at least, major ones like Hollow Zero and it's companion Hollows are not that easy to get rid of.

Through the Void Hunters efforts Ether energy was extracted and now New Eridu uses the energy as a power source.

Unfortunately Arche had disappeared when Hollow Zero hit as he was the founder of Helios Academy.

A school dedicated to researching Hollows which was destroyed as it was in the area where Hollow Zero spawned.

And not only was Arche lost, you were as well.

You see while there were 7 Void Hunters that the public knew about, there were in reality 8.

And that 8th Void Hunter was you.

(Y/N) or "Drifter" which was your codename.

You:

You were the 8th Void Hunter that no one knew about apart from the other Void Hunters themselves.

The reason being you preferred staying anonymous, not really caring for any kind of spotlight so you did everything in your power to stay a secret.

So your fellow Void Hunters took credit which you did not mind.

They provided you with tech and equipment, delivering it to you themselves.

Arche in particular was a very close friend of yours and your closest partner.

You were visting his academy in secret when Hollow Zero hit and most presumed you were dead.

That was not the case however.

When Hollow Zero hit destroying Helios Academy you were hit with a large amount of Ether energy which encased you in an odd green crystal leaving you in a stasis state.

Many who came to investigate Hollow Zero somehow were unable to find your crystalized body.

As if something was somehow twisting the Hollow itself to prevent your discovery.

Now one would assume you would become an Ethereal at some point as you were trapped within Hollow Zero for years.

But your Ether resistance was astoundingly high, even among the Void Hunters and it allowed you to resist the corruption.

Unfortunately something far worse would become of you due to your time in Hollow Zero.

The Present:

In the current present the crystal that trapped you suddenly shattered, freeing you.

After regaining your senses and looking around you recalled what happened and you felt your heart grow heavy as you realized your friend Arche was most likely dead.

Before you could confirm if your friend was truly gone you were assaulted by a group of Ethereals.

Thankfully your weapons and devices were still in working condition and you took them out with ease.

However more would show up and so you had to leave the Hollow somehow.

Thankfully you managed to find a way out and you were met with a changed New Eridu.

It was night and the part of the city you were in was not filled at the moment and you began wandering around.

You were intending to go out and find your other Void Hunters when suddenly you started coughing.

You felt a deep pain within your chest as the coughing got worse and you began to stumble.

The coughing got worse as you started spitting blood.

And suddenly the world around you began to twist and distort, the landscape became ruins and you stood atop a sea of blood.

Suddenly from the blood emerged an Etheral.

This one however was unlike any other you had seen.

It lacked the usual green and black color scheme opting for pink instead of green and it seemed...smarter...more aware as it stared at you with that eye.

This Ethereal approached you as fear gripped your heart for the first time in a long time and when it got close, everything went black.

Your body collapsed somewhere outside a certain video store.

A while later you woke up and found yourself on a couch and covered in a blanket.

Suddenly a voice spoke out and you realized 2 figures were standing over you.

Wise:

Belle:

Siblings who were apparently in charge of this video store and took you in when they found you collapsed on their front door.

Of course they asked what happened to you and you couldn't answer.

For some reason you had lost your voice and could not speak anymore, it most likely had to do something with your coughing fits and...that Ethereal.

So instead you activated your SyCom.

A small floating computer given to you by Arche which functions as your own personal Bangboo.

Bangboos being little robots usually resembling rabbits that assist during missions in Hollows.

Your SyCom does this for you as well.

You and your SyCom:

It showed Wise and Belle various images of you and the Void Hunters letting them know you were one of them.

It explained all the weapons and equipment you were found with, said weapons and equipment having been put somewhere else.

However before anything could go further someone else burst into the room.

Nicole Demara:

She was desperately requesting Wise and Belle to help her get her friends back who ended up falling into a Hollow.

Those friends of her's being Billy and Anby of the Cunning Hares.

Of course they agreed and were going to send in a Bangboo to go find them.

Apparently Wise and Belle were proxies, people who aided Void Raiders, individuals who investigated voids illegaly.

This was something you had no intention of telling the world.

After all they you took you in when you collapsed near their store and so you owed them.

In fact you offered to go in and rescue Nicole's companions who were not only in danger of Ether corruption but also apparently had something valuable.

So you entered along with Nicole and it did not take long for you to prove that you were indeed part of the original Void Hunters.

Any Ethereal was sliced, shot and shredded within seconds of running into you.

No Ethereal could even touch you and even the strong one guarding whatever the Cunning Hares took was no match.

You took it down in literal seconds much to Billy, Anby and Nicole's amazement.

Unfortunately at that moment you started coughing again, coughing blood and having a vision of that Ethereal again.

And eventually you collapsed once more getting the Cunning Hares worried.

And things went from bad to worse as Wise and Belle were being hacked and that hacker demanded they give them what the Cunning Hares took, that being a Strongbox.

The Strongbox:

Thankfully Wise and Belle managed to defeat the Hacker, but they were forced to delete their Phaethon account and this resulted in the exit to the Hollow disappearing and so the only way to make a new one was to use whatever was in the Strongbox.

It was a chip that once put into a Bangboo would allow them to enter and exit a Hollow as they please.

Thankfully it all managed to work out, the Cunning Hares all carried your unconcious body out of the Hollow.

You once again woke up on the couch with Wise and Belle tending to you.

After that you decided to stay with them and become a Void Raider for them as you really had nowhere else to go.

You always have to investigate a Hollow with a partner just in case you cough and faint again.

Something everyone is still trying to figure out about you.

Powers and abilities:

You have access to a lot of weapons and tech which are thankfully resistant to Ether corruption.

Your main weapon is an energy sword which you can use very effeciently and can cut through anything even energy.

You can even enhance it and make it stronger to unleash one wide and powerful swing capable unleashing a shockwave that can blow even the heaviest Ethereals away.

You also have a gun that can shoot out energy blasts in various forms.

Small blasts, powerful shotgun-like blasts, a single focused beam.

You also have a set of powerful bombs that cause major damage to Ethereals but leaves normal people unharmed.

However, above all that is your speed.

Your speed is unmatched, literally no one can outspeed you, it can only be described as "Hyper Light speed."

Even with your odd Ethereal illness you are still the fastest thing on earth able to run at such shocking speeds even Miyabi herself was unable to keep up.

Most mistake this speed for teleportation.

Extra details:

● Your Ethereal illness is caused by an Ethereal you have dubbed Judgement. And Judgement's goal is to completely take you over as it can't exist outside of a Hollow and so it opts to posses you.

● You are an Oni which is why you have blue skin, your horns are very short which is why they fit under your helmet and your tail was severed a long time ago in an incident.

Here's a ZZZ story I came up with.

Sorry for not updating for this long, I have been having tons of writer's block, sorry.

I haven't played Zenless Zone Zero and not because I don't want to.

It's cause I don't have a PS5.

I refuse to give up my PS4.

There are still tons of games I wish to play on it.
