24th July 1991 (Forbidden Forest) Third Persons POV

Hogwarts letters went out last night and students should be receiving them this morning. It's early morning at Hogwarts. Hagrid was enjoying some down time with Fang before school starts in five weeks. Some professors have already arrived and are setting up for the year ahead. All was peaceful.

But not everyone was having a good morning. In fact little four year old Rosie had a horrible night. There was a fire and her parents died. She was told to run and ran into the woods. She got lost and ended up sleeping at the base of a willow tree.

She was sleeping when a pair of teenage wolves found her. They alerted the pack and were sent to the centaur camp for help. While the others tried to keep Rosie warm in the cold morning air.

"You know better then to come here wolves" Firenze states when he sees the teen wolves. They whined and pawed the ground. Firenze frowned in confusion as he examined the marks they made. "You wish me to follow you?" he asks and they nod their heads. "Oh very well" he mutters grabbing him bow and quiver of arrows. "Lead the way" he tells them.

The teens took off running and Firenze gallops behind them. They soon reached the willow and Firenze hears a child giggle. His ears twitch in confusion as he approached the tree. "Stop, that tickles" a young female voice laughs. Firenze pokes his head in through the leaves to see a she wolf licking a human foal's cheek.

The human foal pushing her fluffy head away as she giggles. "Ok, I'm no longer sad" Rosie told the wolf. Though she misses her parents greatly, she didn't want to worry her new friends. "I'm still tired, I'm going back to sleep. Will you be here when I wake?" she asks. The wolves nod their heads and circled around her. Allowing her to use their bodies for warmth. She quickly fell back to sleep.

Firenze pulled his head back and started to think. Why was a human foal here all alone? Where were her parents? What should he do? He decides to go to Hagrid for help. Leaving the girl in the wolves care until his return, knowing they'd protect her.

"Morning Firenze, to what do I owe your visit?" Hagrid asks as he tended to his pumpkin patch.

"There's been a situation in the forest and I require your assistance" Firenze tells him. Hagrid frowned in confusion. Centaurs never asked for help from those outside their herd. So it must be important.

"Will I require my crossbow?" Hagrid asks him.

"No" Firenze says. "Come" he adds and leads the way into the forest. Hagrid follows him with Fang. "I warn you, this maybe a bit of a shock" he states as they reached the willow.

"What?" Hagrid asks him.

"Take a look for yourself" Firenze says gesturing to the tree. Hagrid frowned and brushed the branches aside going under the canopy. He gasps in shock at the young girl sleeping surrounded by wolves. "Now you see why I required your help" he states.

"Where's her parents?" Hagrid asks.

"No idea, the wolves came to my camp this morning and lead me here. She appears to be alone and there has been no sign of other humans in the forest" Firenze explains. "I trust you'll take it from here?" he asks.

"Yes, thank you Firenze. I'll take her to the castle and have her returned to her family" Hagrid tells him. Firenze nodded his head and left to hunt. Hagrid carefully picked up the girl, to not wake her. He thanked the wolves and left with Fang beside him.

When he reached the castle he went to Dumbledore's office. "Who do you have here Hagrid?" Dumbledore asks.

"No idea Professor Dumbledore, the wolves found her in the forest and alerted Firenze. Who came to me, she appears unharmed. But was all alone" Hagrid states.

"Unusual" Dumbledore says. "Lets found out who she is, shall we?" he suggests drawing his wand. He uses Legilimency to look into Rosie's mind. Only briefly, to find out she is muggle and her parents died last night. She has no other living relatives or anyone who'd miss her.

"So what will we do professor?" Hagrid asks him.

"Well she should be sent to a muggle orphanage, back to the world she came from" Dumbledore states.

"But she's only a child, she wouldn't survive one of those muggle orphanages" Hagrid states. "No, we can't make her life more horrible then it already is" he states.

"Then what do you propose Hagrid?" Dumbledore asks him.

"Why not have her stay here and then we can ask muggle born families if they'd be willing to adopt her. Or if a professor would" Hagrid states.

"She's a muggle Hagrid" Dumbledore reminds him.

"I know, but I feel like she was sent here for a reason. Like she belongs here, even though she's a muggle. I'll raise her myself if I have too" Hagrid states.

"You're really wish for her to remain here?" Dumbledore asks.

"Yes, but we should ask her. She has the right to choose" Hagrid tells him as Rosie stirs. Dumbledore nods his head.

"Wolfies, where are you?" Rosie asks confused. "Who are you?" she asks the two men in front her scared.

"Don't be afraid, we won't hurt yah" Hagrid tells her.

"Hagrid found you in the woods and brought you here" Dumbledore states. "We were just discussing what to do with you" he adds.

"Please don't send me away" Rosie pleads.

"We won't, if that is what you wish" Dumbledore assures her. "Hagrid has already offered to raise you as his own. If you wished to remain here" he states.

"Where is here?" she asks.

"Hogwarts, but we'll get to that later. There's a lot for you to learn" Hagrid tells her. "Oh and this is my dog Fang" he adds. Rosie squeals happily at the sight of the dog. She let him sniff her before patting him fondly.

"I'll leave her with you Hagrid and take care of the paper. I think she could do with some breakfast" Dumbledore tells him. Hagrid nods his head and Rosie waved goodbye to Dumbledore. Before grabbing Hagrid's hand and leaving the office with him & Fang. That's how Hagrid got a muggle as his daughter.
