Chapter 8
After school the next day, the split up to do their training. Kurumi and Rosena waved goodbye to Blair and Tai as they continue their way. "Well, let's go inside." Blair said. Tai agreed. As they walked in, there was two people sitting at the table. "Hi mom. Hi Hallie." "Hi sweetie. How was your day?" "It was good." "I told you he was cute!" Hallie told her mother. "I see that. So, is this your boyfriend?" "No! We are not dating!" They said together. Hallie started to laugh. "Man, this is funny. Oh yeah, Blair I have something to show you." She started to pull her up the stairs. "Wait! What are you showing me?" "You'll see."
After they left, Tai was getting nervous. "What am I suppose to do?" The mother laughed a little bit. "What am I gonna do without them." "Beats me." "So, I'm guessing your Tai Rhinehart?" She said in a calm and relaxing tone. "Yes ma'am." "Don't be so nervous. Come take a seat." "Okay then." He sat across from her. "So how long have you been Buddyfighting?" He started to think. "Hmm. I would say since I was 5 or 6." "You've been playing for awhile, haven't you?" "Yes ma'am." Tai notice a picture of a man, a woman, and two little girls. The little girls were on the man's shoulders. "Is that your husband?" She turned to the picture. "Yes he is." "Where is he now?" "He's no longer with us." "I'm truly sorry Ms..." "Carol. And that's alright. I'm guessing that Blair doesn't talk about him much, doesn't she?" He shook his head. "No ma'am." "Well I figured she wouldn't." Her tone dropped but it was still calm. "A lot has happened to her during that time. Both, her father and Blair, shared a close bond. But then her father became 9. Blair didn't know of it at the time. He decided to show Blair Buddyfight. He was pretty good at it. You could consider him a pro. She was really fascinated by the game. They would have matches all the time. But, his time had come. She never did see him in the hospital. I think by then she realized what was going on. She was depressed for about 2 weeks, by then she found a friend. He also played the game. She was really happy then. They use to spend time together. I guess that was short lived." "The bullies." She nodded. "Since then, she tried to let go but it was the only thing moving her. Until you came into the picture." He pointed to himself. "Me?"
"Yes. She was back to her normal self thanks to you. Not only her, since she was enjoying Buddyfight, Hallie wanted to try." "Wow." He was shocked. He never notice how big of an impact he made on her life. Carol opened the picture fame and took out a envelope. "Here." She handed him it. "Are you sure?" "Go ahead." Her tone returned to normal. He opened it and there was a letter inside. He started to read it. "Dear friend, first off let me say hello and congratulations. If you're reading this, then that means my wife thinks you're a kind-hearted person. Thank you for whatever you're doing. Blair must be really happy and Hallie too. I wish I could see them grow up but that's life. Now along with this letter there's a present. There is a meaning behind this. I'll leave that up to you to figure it out. Remember to enjoy everyday to the fullest. Goodbye and take care. From, Haris."
He looked inside of the envelope and found a Buddyfight card. "Wait! How is this possible?" The card was blank. "There's a meaning behind it. You need to find before it reveal itself. Think you can handle it?" "Yes ma'am!"
