SUMMARY
"The best revenge is not to be like your enemy."
--- Marcus Aurelius
Before Vashti became a child of earth, she was a child of Animus.
Animus was a beautiful, scarlet-colored and medium-sized planet outside the human-labeled solar system. The planet was described as a master piece that you could find in a museum, a vision similar to the stories in greek mythology, and a planet surrounded by flora and fauna. It was a home to intelligent, enhanced beings with the power of mental manipulation. They were characterized as humble, peaceful beings with the desire to protect all life, but they were to follow a code to not seek vengeance on those who hurt them. In order to maintain peace within their hearts and minds, they were to forgive...no matter how severe.
While peace and forgiveness were the two vital traits important in the individual, they were also important in the family unit. The teachings of morals and conduct were passed down from generation to generation, all the while they flourished in other areas. Animus valued knowledge in the study of science, mathematics and even literature. They commit their efforts into teaching the next scholars and geniuses who will bring pride within the Animusian race, but for those who did not see themselves as scholars, they dedicated themselves to their journey within the armed military.
The Animusian military were organized, disciplined and moralistic in the act of warfare, but the path to serve in society wasn't enough for Vashti. Unlike the others, Vashti desired to live and belong somewhere...to fit in and to be among people who will embrace her. Yet, despite her desires to live her own life, she had no choice but to abide to tradition.
Her parents understood her lack of satisfaction to follow tradition, but they advised her to prepare for the worst. But why?
As any other curious child, Vashti wondered why she simply had to follow the rules that were set in stone. They were on a planet where they protected each other, and they have lived in peace for many years. What was the worst that could happen?
Well the worst came in the form of Rita Repulsa.
At the age of 12 years old, Rita Repulsa invaded their lands, destroyed their cities and killed many people that stood in her way of her goal. That goal was to obtain the Zeo Crystal. The Zeo Crystal is a powerful energy source that helped her planet thrive for many years...but has proven to be destructive when used with evil intent.
The desperate and chaotic search for the crystal has pulled the innocent under the veil of war, forcing Vashti to escape to earth with her aunt and uncle. However, her parents fought against Rita to protect the Crystal and their daughter until they took their last breath. From that point on, everything that happened after that became a blur until all she saw was a land filled with dust and sand. She was alone with her aunt and uncle, and everything that she knew was ripped away from her.
It took years after the escape, while assimilating to Earth culture to finally process that her planet was destroyed, her people were murdered while Rita was floating somewhere to find the other Zeo Crystals. Rita's greed and madness ripped her family apart, leaving her alone on a planet that would never make her feel like home...no matter how hard she tried. Her childish dreams only resulted into her family's suffering and anguish, which pushed her over the edge. She became even angrier by the day, knowing that Rita was still out there...but she wasn't going to live on this new planet without a new goal. Revenge.
She was going to kill Rita and no one was going to get in her way.
