Feelings matter
Hi guys!!! Skye is back for another update!!! Finally . . .sorry. I'm excited. This is sorta a breakthrough for both Hiccup and Skye this chapter which is really good. We are getting somewhere. I hope you like it and don't forget to vote and comment. Now without further a due, my new update! Enjoy!
Hiccup watched as Skye practice combating with her sword in the woods. She was a worthy opponent. She was balanced, fast and agile with her sword not to mention she was very good at using her surroundings against the opponent. Hiccup Toothless and Daybreaker had all grown tired of just watching Skye practice alone, so to simulate a real fight, Hiccup decided to be her opponent.
"Skye, you know what's better than fighting the air?" Hiccup said slyly.
"Hiccup, I'm not fighting the air. I'm practicing different maneuvers. Why would I fight the air? That's absolutely pointless and crazy. No one would be stupid enough to do it. . ." Skye trailed off until realising there was one person who would do that.
"Well maybe I stand corrected." Skye laughed as Hiccup added, "Yeah, I'm pretty sure we both know someone who would do just that."
Skye put her sword away, "Yeah. He owns a chicken. Oh Tuffnut."
Hiccup laughed along. Tuffnut had his moments, but when it really counted, he was there for him and his friends.
Skye felt a grin starting to come on. Her mouth muscles began movie upward before she restrained and refrained herself from smiling. How did she not realise she was grinning? It must have been because it was more easier to grin than to frown. After all, it does take more muscles to frown than to smile. . .
Skye realised that now it was much easier for her to express her feelings. She sighed before realising what being in Berk for such a short time had done to her. It surely had changed her. She was quite different a few weeks ago. Skye felt like if she had fallen into a trap. Her mind was whirling, she was different. She remembered how it was the first weeks she had gotten there. She was firm, strict and incapable of showing any compassion whatsoever but then when she saw Hiccup, something inside her changed. It all started on that island. Where Hiccup was supposed to be executed. His wedding day. Something inside her made her save him. The moment she saw him, those eyes of his begged for his life. Skye normally would just picked the lock and let them leave, but something made her stay with them. It wasn't just because of seeing Toothless. It was just something about the pair that made her so things without thinking. It lit something in her. But what?
Her eyes looked around the forest. The breeze past through the single stranda of wavy black hair Skye had. Her eyes widened at the thought that she did change drastically. How could this have happened? How could she not notice? It happened right under her nose, she had let her guard down.
Skye took seat by a tree and began thinking this out. How could she be at all different when she hasn't been here for this long? How could she feel all these different emotions that she had never once felt before? Anger? Vulnerability? Loneliness? Compassion? Kindness? Love. . .
"Skye. Skye." Hiccup snapped his fingers at Skye until she got his attention.
Skye looked at Hiccup dumbfoundedly and shyly, "What?"
Hiccup looked at her with concern, "Skye are you ok?"
"I. . .I am . . .fine." Skye uttered still in deep thought.
"No you aren't." Hiccup said scooting closer to her awaiting a real response.
"Hiccup I said I'm fine." Skye said a bit indecisively.
Hiccup didn't buy it, not for one bit.
Skye replied frustrated, "Hiccup, I said I was fi-"
Hiccup covered her mouth, "I know you said you're fine but we both know you're lying. What's wrong? Be honest with me."
Her eyes widened at seeing such a reaction from Hiccup. Such audacity. Hiccup himself didn't realise his actions until he saw his reflection in the irises of her eyes. What was he doing? Hiccup trembled at his fingertips touching her lips. They were so smooth. Untouched territory. Hiccup had just made his way into unknown territory. He had never done such a thing.
He took his hand away before replying unsurely, "Skye. . .I didn't. . .I "
Skye opened her mouth but said nothing. Her feelings mirrored the expression seen in those greenish irises of his. Hiccup looked at her while Skye couldn't manage to say a word to him. In this one moment, she was relatively speechless. It was a rare sighting indeed. For both the Chief and an outsider like Skye to be equally silent was very rare. They stared at each other for the longest time before Skye spoke up. She didn't sound as eager as she was before. Like if she had gone back to the way she was when she had just gotten here.
"Get up." Skye said, not a single bit of hesitation in her voice.
Hiccup for a moment got scared before Skye spoke once more, ignoring the fact they had just had a moment, "Just get up. No questions."
Hiccup quietly got up still nervous at what she was going to do.
Skye pointed her sword at him. Hiccup immediately felt a shiver go down his spine.
"S-skye? What are you doing?" Hiccup shuttered.
"What do you think I'm doing? We are going to swordfight. " Skye said instantly relieving Hiccup.
Relief was now expressed on his facial features before saying, "Oh yeah. "
Skye replied, "Although, maybe we shouldn't. It wouldn't be much of a fight."
Hiccup's eyebrows furrowed before saying, "Well I won't go hard on you, I promise."
Skye looked at him before laughing.
"What's so funny?" Hiccup said as Skye regained her composure.
"You. That's all. I wasn't talking about you. I was talking about me. I'm not so sure you are built for um. . ,fighting me." Skye tried saying it lightly.
When Hiccup realised what she was saying, he replied, "Excuse me? Are you accusing the Chief of Berk as a weakling?"
Skye sharpened her sword with a rock, "Hey I'm not the one who said it. I was simply stating that for a person of your physique, fighting someone like me isn't the best choice."
Hiccup immediately took out his sword and pointed it at her face, "You'd be surprised. "
Skye smirked pushing the sword away, "Look Tornado Hairs, hate to break it to you but I'm not fighting you. "
Hiccup watched as Skye began packing her things. As for Hiccup, he couldn't believe her. Skye had just, underestimated him. He wouldn't let it happen. Hiccup pulled out his sword and before Skye could pick up her messenger bag he used his sword to grab her bag and hoist it towards him.
Skye looked at him before saying, "Very funny. Come on, I need my bag."
Hiccup held up the messenger bag out of her grasp. He was only a two inches taller than her but it wasn't helping much.
"Hiccup! Stop playing games! Give me my bag!" Skye said getting frustrated.
She tried snatching the bag from Hiccup but it wasn't working.
"Ugh Hiccup, give me my bag!" Skye took one more grab towards the bag, but as she grabbed the bag, she tripped on Hiccup and fell on top of him.
"Ugh." Hiccup said, "You are heavier than you look."
"Hey!! The Chief shouldn't say that to a lass. Especially since you are just flesh and bones, mostly bones." Skye said slightly offended.
"I am not. I never knew you were a lass." Hiccup stated sarcastically.
"Didn't know you could be sarcastic. " Skye said touching the leather strap of her bag.
Skye grabbed her bag and got off Hiccup instantaneously before heading off to work, but Hiccup wouldn't let her go that easily. At least not when he had her there.
Hiccup pulled on her wrist before saying, "Not so fast. "
Skye gasped before Hiccup held a sword to her cheek, "I'm not as easy as a opponent as you think I am Skye. Today, I'm going to prove it to you. I respect you and you're going to respect me."
Skye shook her head, before saying, "Hiccup I never said that. I never said I didn't respect you."
Hiccup looked at her, "Then why do you underestimate me Skye?"
Skye then used the tree as her support to flip herself over and out of Hiccup's grasp before pulling out her sword, "Why do you care?"
Hiccup didn't say a word before he began fighting Skye with his sword. Skye sighed as she at the moment wasn't thinking about the fight. She was thinking about why she had changed?
Hiccup had noticed and due to her mind being on something else, gave Hiccup the opportunity to unbalance her and to bring him into his embrace.
"You aren't thinking straight Skye. Tell me the truth." Hiccup said making eye contact with her.
"Its nothing." Skye said tripping him and pointing the sword at him.
Hiccup double blinked before starting to fight her again. To Skye's surprise, Hiccup wasn't someone to take lightly. Hiccup knew that he had to win. He had to win to at least make her confess. He knew something wasn't right. He could see it in her eyes to say the least. Slowly, Skye was getting tired out which gave Hiccup the opportunity he solely needed. He took the opportunity to make Skye loose her sword. He held it up to her chest.
"I win." Hiccup smirked.
Skye sighed, "Amateur."
She lifted her leg and kicked the sword out of Hiccup's hands. She then pushed him down to the ground before using her body as a gravitational push to cart wheel and grab both swords. She then crossed both swords into and X and put it over his head.
"What was it you were saying?" Skye smirked.
Hiccup sighed before pressing the button on his sword and letting the Zippleback gas trick Skye before arming himself with his sword again. He then pushed her over lightly and took her sword, "Hey Skye, I'm not right handed."
Skye double blinked before pulling out a tiny knife and saying, "Funny you should mention that. I'm not left handed."
She took her sword with her dominant hand and pointed it at his head.
"Great minds think a like Chief." Skye mocked before turning around and putting her sword back into its leather holder.
Hiccup didn't think twice jolting towards Skye and turning her around grabbing both her wrists tightly.
"Never turn your back on the enemy." Hiccup said.
Skye rolled her eyes, "You aren't my enemy Hiccup. I'm just not on my a-game today. That's all."
Hiccup replied, "I know. Truce?"
Skye smirked, "Truce. "
Hiccup got off of her before she pushed Hiccup over with her leg.
"What happened to truce?" Hiccup questioned.
" Nothing. Truce is truce." Skye said picking up her things.
Hiccup sighed, "You are impossible!"
Skye chuckled, "Weren't you the one that said "nothing is impossible"?"
Hiccup shrugged, "Yes, but with you it's different. I want to help but you don't tell me anything."
Skye patted his head, "Don't worry. I'm fine."
Hiccup just about couldn't hold it in, "YOU ARENT FINE!!! YOU ARE LYING TO ME!!! WHY WONT YOU LET ANYONE ELSE TAKE CARE OF YOU! YOU ARENT ALONE ANYMORE. I just. . ."
Skye looked at him wide eyed, "Hi-"
Hiccup's voice cracked, "I just want to take care of you. Like you did to me. Its my job to care for everyone who lives in Berk. Why won't you let me take care of you?"
"That isn't your responsibility." Skye said trailing off.
Hiccup now a bit flustered, "Why won't you let me in?"
Skye stayed serious the longest she could before her cheeks slowly got redder and redder. Her eyes got glossier before she started sniffling and then finally breaking into tears. To Hiccup's surprise, he actually made her cry.
"I'm neglegent. I don't talk about emotions. Then here you come and want to know how I feel. I don't know what to feel. I'm angry for getting soft. I'm sad because no one understands me, until you come and ask stupid questions and I'm supposed to give you a stupid answer. " Skye was going on and on until Hiccup hugged her.
"Its ok. " Hiccup said consoling her.
Hiccup put his chin on her head waiting patiently until Skye let it all out.
"Feel better?" Hiccup said.
She shrugged, "A little."
She was about to punch his shoulder making Hiccup instantly wince as if she had already done.
Skye sniffled before giving a small smile, "Two for flinching."
With that she punched him softly, twice. Hiccup smiled as he finally knew what she felt. He had finally made it through. Through to Skye's heart.
