Valka began digging through her closet to find something suitable for Skye to wear at the party. Skye had tried on four dresses already, none of them were quite right. Skye at the moment sat on her bed, awaiting the next dress.

"No. Good heavens, no. Never! Never in Valhalla! Oh, this one might work. Yes, dearie try this one on for size." Valka handed her the dress.

"I don't know Val. Dresses aren't my thing. I prefer pants." Skye said as she held the dress in her grasp.

Valka chuckled, "Dearie, have you ever seen yourself in the mirror?"

Skye thought about it and then replied, "I don't like looking at myself in the mirror. I'm not pretty and I don't need the mirror to tell me that. I already know."

Val tsked her, "Oh dearie, your beautiful. Never say that! Never! Now go try it on. Try the dress on first and then look at yourself in the mirror. Now go on."

Skye began with her excuses, "B-but."

Val pushed her into the bathroom, "Just put it on, dearie."

Skye began putting the dress on. It felt comfy, and it didn't feel heavy. Skye walked out so Val could see. Val gasped and then brought her to the mirror.

"Oh, dearie. . .you look beautiful! That's the one! Now come along. Time for your hair!" Valka said bringing her brushes and hair accessories.

Skye sighed and sat down. Val began untying her braid. She brushed through her long wavy hair. Val then began doing her hair. She made Skye close her eyes. She kept her eyes shut the best she good, getting a sneak peek every once in a while. It felt like forever, when in reality it only took 2 hours. With all of Skye's hair Val whipped up something special. Val hadn't done hair as long as Skye's. Her hair was soft and wavy with not very many tangles. Once Val finished, she hair sprayed it still. Val smiled, satisfied with her work.

"Ok, dearie finished!!! You look beautiful." Val said, her eyes glistening with hope and happiness.

Skye looked at herself in the mirror. She gasped. She had never looked that fancy for anything.

"Val. . .wow! How'd you?" Skye uttered and surprised at what Val had done to make her see her own beauty.

Val hugged her from behind, "See. You are beautiful! Now, its my turn to get ready. Hold on there dearie!"

With that Val went to go change quickly. Skye only looked at herself. She remembered her father saying that she wasn't anything like that. His voice replayed in her head.

"You are nothing special! Look at you! You are nothing but my heir. You will take my place. Beauty is something you lack, but that doesn't matter, you hideousness will bring pain to others which is what counts." His voice replayed in her head remembering the abuse she went throughout her life.

The pain. Memories went through her head. The words and doubt and pain. Every sentence that her father spoke was always under mining and made her feel like nothing more than his replacement. She snapped out her thoughts when Val called her name.

"Dearie! Skye! Hello?" Val asked.

Skye looked at her dumbfounded, "Hmm."

Val sat down beside her, "Dearie are you alright? You seem lost in thought? Was it a memory?"

Skye looked at her hands, "Um. . . yeah. About my father, I don't talk about him much. I prefer to talk about my mother more."

Val looked at her, "You make it seem like your mother was some one influential in your life. Just your mother? "

Skye looked up, "She. . .was. I haven't seen her in a very long time."

Val's expression changed from a smile to a sympathetic look, "Oh, I'm sorry sweetie. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."

Skye looked at her, "I have to be able to talk to you, Val. Your like the mother I've never had. Please. . ."

Val gave her a hug, "OK dearie. I'm here for you. I promise that. When you need me, I will be here. Hiccup didn't have a mother figure almost all his life, so I do know what that's like."

Skye tried not to cry but that didn't work out so well. The tears began sliding down her face.

"My mother died in a fire when I was younger. My father never was the same after that. He abused me and sold me to a man that brings everyone pain. Hiccup told me he killed his father. I'm truly sorry for that." Skye croaked.

Val's eyes widened, "Your father sold you to Drago Blüdvist! How could someone do that to their own child. Oh gods, I'm so sorry, Skye. "

Skye sniffled, "It's fine. We should probably get going. I don't really want to get sad because this is an important occasion for you and all of Berk. Not to mention Hiccup. You and him seem really close."

Val cleaned her tears, "Yes, we are. Hiccup has the heart of the Chief and soul of a dragon. He's. . ."

Val began walking around and then stopped and looked at her, giving her a smirk.

"He's persuasive." Val said eyeing her.

Skye only looked at her feet, feeling her cheeks heat up.

"Maybe so. I wouldn't know. Val, what's a party like? I remember going to one when I was younger. It's a distant memory." Skye said standing up.

Val grabbed her hand, "Well here on Berk, we enjoy our parties. So enjoy yourself. Have fun and let go."

Skye looked at her, "Thanks, Mo- I mean Val."

Val grabbed her hands, "Dearie, your mother would be proud to see you. Treasure the memories you remember of her, never let them go."

Skye smiled giving her a hug. Val squeezed her tight and then led her to the Great Hall. Skye stood in front of the door, she gave Val a worried look. Val only let her be, pushing her through the door. Skye kept close to Val. It was hard to let go when you didn't know anyone other than Val, Gobber, and Hiccup. Daybreaker was in the Great Hall and quickly noticed Skye enter. Daybreaker ran towards her.

"Hey girl. You look nice." Skye fixed the big ribbon blue bow on her neck.

Daybreaker only gave her a cheery smile and then went off with the rest of the dragons and Toothless. Skye went to get a seat when someone hollered her name from across the room.

A chubby blond haired boy shouted, "Hey Skye, over here."

Skye walked over unknowingly. She had seen them behind Hiccup and Val earlier, maybe they were his friends. Sure enough, she was right.

"Wow. You look nice." Fishlegs uttered, his cheeks flushing to a deep red.

"Thank you. Uh, what's your name?" Skye asked.

Fishlegs stood up straighter. He was going to introduce himself until Snotlout came into the picture. He walked arrogantly up to them.

"Fishlegs, what did I tell you. Hot girls aren't your match. Oh, hey Skye. I'm Snotlout, I helped defeat the Red Death and I'm single. I know, it's such a shocker." Snotlout kissed her hand.

Skye cringed in disgust and punched his nose.

"Nice to meet you Snotlout. Don't kiss my hand and it isn't quite a shocker that your single." Skye huffed.

Ruffnut then came behind. She wore a strapless dark green dress. Tuffnut and Eret came behind, with Astrid and Hiccup coming shortly after.

"Are we punching the idiots now?!? Great! My turn!" Ruff said punching Tuffnut's face.

Tuff fell to the ground, Eret helped him up. Ruffnut only stared at him.

"Well aren't you handsome? Eret son of Eret, you never fail to make me feel like we should be together." Ruff whispered as Eret stood back and came behind Fishlegs.

"She's yours." Eret whispered.

Tuff got up from the ground and introduced himself, "Ruffnut I think you missed a spot."

Ruff smirked, "Gladly."

As she threw a punch, Astrid caught her fist.

"Ruffnut, we aren't here to fight. We are here to-" Snotlout cut Astrid off.

Astrid wore a stunning black v-neck dress. Wow, she was pretty.

Snotlout cut Astrid off, "We are here for your boyfriend. We know. Oh wait he's your fiance."

Astrid rolled her eyes as Snotlout put his arm around Skye's shoulder. Skye scrunched her nose in disgust. Who did he think he was?

"I don't care about Hiccup and you anymore, Astrid. I've got Skye. Right babe." Snotlout said.

Skye immediately grabbed his shoulder and flipped him over. Snotlout landing in his backside against the wooden floor.

Snotlout mouthed, "Love you too."

Skye gave him a glare, "Don't call me babe."

Astrid smirked, "I finally like you. I'm Astrid, that's Ruffnut and Tuffnut, and that's Fishlegs and Eret and well you've met Snotlout."

Skye nodded.

"Nice to meet you all." Skye smiled.

As Eret looked at her, it reminded him of someone. He had seen her before, somewhere, somehow.

Astrid suggested, "Come on, let sit down. Before Snotlout starts getting up."

As everyone left Eret stopped Skye. He grabbed her shoulder.

"I know you from somewhere. You look like. . ." Eret said trying to remember, it was all so vague.

Skye looked at him, "I don't know what your talking about."

Eret gave her a look, "Sure. You worked with Drago didn't you?"

Skye looked at him, "I didn't think you'd remember. That was 6 years ago. I don't work with him anymore."

Eret furrowed his eyebrows, "I don't remember you. If you worked for Drago, I would of remembered you. The one girl I remember wa-"

Skye cut him off, "Alice. I know, she was my friend. I knew her and you. I don't have any affiliations with Drago Blüdvist and I will never forget what I learned, but mock my words I'm Skye Worthington and if you think you can see right through me, than your wrong. Excuse me, Eret son of Eret, but I assure you that I am who I say I am."

Eret backed off, "Very well."

Skye walked away, leaving Eret by himself. Something wasn't right, he knew her from somewhere, but he couldn't put his finger on it. He believed her, for now. . . Skye began walking and bumped into someone. That someone, Hiccup.

"Hey watch it!" Skye said regretting it immediately, putting her hand over her mouth.

"H-hiccup, I'm sorry. I didn't know. . .I didn't see you." Skye uttered.

Hiccup couldn't say anything but look at her. She was beautiful. Hiccup thought so. He also thought that she should know. Skye was embarrassed.

"It's OK. It can get pretty crowded here." Hiccup said chuckling.

Hiccup wore a tux. He looked nice, but now he really wished he had a purple tie to match her though.

Hiccup spoke up again, "You look beautiful."

Skye looked up at him, "Thanks, this was all Val. I'm not one to show my shoulders or my beauty. That is if I even have such a thing. "

Hiccup mumbled, "I think your pretty and you do have beauty. You're beautiful."

Skye blushed at hearing that. Hiccup did too once he noticed she had heard him. This was going to be a very interesting night, one to remember. It got quiet again. Hiccup heard Gobber announce that it was time to eat. Before he said that Gobber and Hiccup had planned something special for a certain someone.

"Welcome every one! Welcome to Hiccup's Return Party! That's right, our Chief has returned!!! Along with Hiccup's safety and Berk at ease we would like to thank this special lass for saving our Chief from the clutches of Drago Blüdvist. Skye, lass would you come up here?" Gobber said catching Skye off guard.

The light shined above her and everyone cheered her on. Hiccup gave her a big smile and a chuckle.

"Come on Skye!" Hiccup said as Skye headed for the door, inching closer and closer to it.

Hiccup grabbed her wrist and chuckled, "Come on. You'll be fine."

Hiccup led Skye to the stage, much to Astrid's content. Astrid didn't like Hiccup hanging out with Skye. There was something mysterious about her that Astrid couldn't quite put her finger on. She only watched as her colleges cheered Skye on, especially Snotlout. She watched as Skye got up on the stage. Gobber motioned Skye to say a few words and she nervously did. Astrid barely payed attention. Since Hiccup was alone, Astrid decided to take him somewhere where they'd be alone. Hiccup was baffled by what Astrid was doing.

"Astrid where are we going?" Hiccup asked.

Astrid smirked, "Catching up Hiccup. We haven't had the chance to. Now we have it."

Before Hiccup could say another word, Astrid crashed her lips on his. Hiccup's eyes widened. Astrid backed away tucking a strand of loose hair behind her ear, blushing. Hiccup only blinked. He kissed back and enjoyed tget moment he had with her. Hiccup wanted to stay but he had to go.

"Astrid we should get back." Hiccup said.

As he turned to leave, Astrid pulled on his tux, Astrid's lips touching his again. Hiccup had a feeling he'd be here for a while. He was right, Astrid wasn't going to let him go that easily. . .
