Krillin & 18 vs Saitama & Genos (Dragon Ball vs One Punch Man)
*This fight was suggested by MLPFan001 who also helped do the analysis for Krillin
When it comes to anime tag teams of a bald martial artist and a blond cyborg… actually these are the only two that come to mind. But both are still amazing teams.
****(Krillin and 18)****
Full/Real Names: Unknown for Krillin, but Android 18’s original name was Lazuli.
Species: Krillin is human and 18 is considered an Android (though she's actually a cyborg)
Occupation: Z Fighters, protectors of Earth
Backstory:
Krillin- At first glance, the short bald monk named Krillin would not seem impressive in the slightest. But contrary to popular belief, he is actually extremely strong and powerful. He has been training in martial arts since he was just a kid and under the tutelage of Master Roshi, both he and his rival/best friend, Goku (Yeah, would you believe they were rivals at first?) quickly became extraordinary fighters, to the point of being superhuman. And over the years Krillin actually became one of Earth’s bravest protectors.
Android 18- Dr. Gero was a brilliant scientist in the infamous Red Ribbon Army. The Red Ribbon Army was a force to be feared… until a young monkey boy named Goku decimated them. Infuriated, Dr. Gero dedicated the rest of his life to getting revenge on Goku. So he started building numerous powerful Androids to take him down. This included his deadliest creations, Android 17 and Android 18 (but since the two were human siblings before getting robotic enhancements, they're technically cyborgs, not androids). These two siblings were easily Gero’s ultimate killing machines. Too bad for him, they were also the most uncontrollable. After releasing the two, they effortlessly slaughtered their former master, then they set out to ravage the world and kill pretty much everyone. However, after being hunted by a monster named Cell and seeing the kindness of the heroes, 18 had a change of heart, and after being saved she joined the good guys. It didn't take long for her to become one of the world's greatest defenders.
Fighting Styles: Both Krillin and 18 are masters of hand to hand combat.
Equipment and Abilities:
Krillin- Trained by Master Roshi, Krillin is capable of utilizing a spiritual energy called Ki. With Ki, he can shoot energy blasts, fly at insane speeds, sense other ki sources, and enhance his already impressive strength and durability. Specific techniques include the iconic Kamehameha, a powerful energy blast so awesome, Street Fighter characters have tried their hardest to imitate it. Krillin also has the Destructo Disk, a razor sharp frisby of energy that can cut through almost anything (including a small mountain), Scattering Bullet, where he sends his ki into the air and makes it rain down, and the Solar Flare, a flash of light that temporarily blinds opponents. And since this is Dragon Ball, of course Krillin has a super mode, which is called the No Ego Zone. This boosts his power immensely, making him even stronger.
18- Programmed to be the ultimate killing machine, Android 18 is immensely powerful. Like her husband Krillin, she uses Ki to fly, enhance her abilities, and shoot energy blasts, and she has a few special techniques herself. Her finger beam is a concentrated energy beam that can easily slice through buildings and such, her Infinity Bullet is where she fires a barrage of blasts that are near impossible to dodge, and Power Blitz is a good old fashioned energy blast for when she feels like simply blasting the enemy. She can also use the Destructo Disk. And there's even more. For almost everyone that uses Ki, their amount of Ki has a limit, but for Android 18, it's a different story. Dr. Gero built her and 17 with a sort of battery that provides them with a constant and potentially endless supply of Ki. So 18 has potentially infinite stamina and endurance.
Strength/Power:
Krillin- While Krillin doesn't have a lot of feats showing the full extent of his strength and power, we can get an idea of how strong he is by scaling him to other people he's fought. For example, while on Planet Namek, Krillin was able to help fight first form Frieza, who could obliterate the planet Vegeta with just one finger. And Krillin’s gotten much stronger since. In another instance, his power was able to momentarily hold off Goku’s Kamehameha while he was in Super Saiyan Blue form. You know, that form beyond his god form.
18- Android 18 has numerous feats of strength and power. She blocked and broke Trunks’ sword (the same sword Trunks used to slash Frieza, who could tank planetary explosions while weakened), broke Vegeta’s arm, and was even able to deflect attacks from Goku in his Super Saiyan Blue form.
Speed:
Krillin- He can move faster than the eye can see and can move fast enough to create afterimages. And if we're using scaling, he is capable of faster than light speeds, because a fairly casual Ki blast from Piccolo in the Saiyan Saga reached the moon in around a second or two, making it relativistic to light speeds, and since then numerous characters, including ones Krillin has fought, have reacted to similar ki blasts.
18- Like Krillin, the upper limits of her speed aren't fully known. But she can keep up with super saiyans like Vegeta and Goku. Goku in base form could travel across the Planet Namek in a second, making him relative to the speed of light. Multiply that by 50 for the super Saiyan form and already he's much faster than light, and 18 can keep up with him, no sweat.
Toughness/Survivability: Both Krillin and 18 have taken hits from some of the deadliest enemies in the universe, and many of them are far beyond planet buster and multi-planet buster level, sometimes even Solar system to universe level.
Feats:
Krillin- Krillin has killed four Saibamen at once, beat a number of Frieza force soldiers, held his own against first form Cell for a short time, and even defeated Gohan in a tournament style fight.
18- Over the years 18's done some impressive things. Hell, the first day she became active again, she was slapping around Super Saiyans like Vegeta and Trunks. In Dragon Ball GT, she helped beat Super 17 and in Dragon Ball Super she was considered one of the strongest fighters in her universe. Hell, in an alternate timeline, she conquered the Earth.
Weaknesses:
Krillin- Despite being arguably the strongest human being on the planet, Krillin is still pretty low tier compared to other fighters. He can also be easily intimidated at times, which of course works against him. Despite that though, he will always fight for his friends no matter how heavily outclassed he may be.
18- Android 18 is one of the fiercest and strongest fighters we've had yet, but she's not perfect. She can get cocky at times and underestimate an opponent. And remember how her alternate timeline self conquered the world? That same future self was eventually killed by Trunks. But despite her flaws, she's still one of the strongest women on the planet and angering her would be a terrible mistake.
****(Saitama and Genos)****
Superhero Names: Caped Baldy and Demon Cyborg
Species: Saitama is human and Genos is a cyborg
Occupation: Superheroes for the Hero Association
Backstory:
Saitama- Before he was the One Punch Man, Saitama was nothing more than just another guy. In fact, you could argue he was slightly below the average guy, because he was constantly fired and rejected from jobs. But on one fateful day when he saved a big chinned kid from a giant crab man (long story), he realized he wanted to be a Superhero. And so, he trained by doing 100 pushups, 100 situps, 100 squats, and a 10 KM run every single day for three straight years. This caused all his hair to fall out and all of his physical abilities became unmatched. Ever since, he's crushed every monster and villain to threaten those around him.
Genos- Before he was the Demon Cyborg, Genos was just an ordinary guy living in an ordinary town. But that would suddenly change when a crazy cyborg appeared in town and destroyed everything, including Genos’ family. Stricken with grief and hungry for revenge, Genos’ fate would change even more thanks to a chance meeting with a robotics scientist named Dr. Kuseno, and he convinced the doctor to give him a cybernetic upgrade as well. After that, Genos’ body was entirely mechanical, making him a deadly cyborg. On his quest for revenge, Genos eventually met Saitama and the two formed a teacher-student relationship (though it's not always clear which is which). Together the two joined the Hero Association and began fighting for justice. Genos even rose to Rank S on his first day at the Hero Association.
Fighting Styles: Both are masters in hand to hand combat
Equipment and Abilities:
Saitama- In his three years of training, Saitama broke his limiter, the thing that keeps human beings from growing too strong. As a result, there's no real limit to how much Saitama can grow, and has far surpassed superhuman levels. His arsenal of abilities isn't many, but for what he lacks in variety, he makes up for in overwhelming power. His normal punch is a single punch ideal for taking out any pesky monsters. He can also use Consecutive Normal Punches to hit an enemy with a barrage of these blows. These two moves by themselves are enough to oneshot pretty much any monster, but there's a bit more. For almost all of his fights, Saitama does not fight seriously. So, while it's technically not a super mode, Saitama can boost his power immensely simply by getting serious. While in Serious Mode, he can casually keep up with planetary threats.
Genos- Thanks to his cyborg body, Genos is much faster, stronger, and tougher than the average man. His mechanical body can also create and manipulate fire (and some electricity). With these, he can use a few special techniques. His Machine Gun Blow is a barrage of fast fiery punches and Incinerate is a powerful concentrated blast of fire. Not only that, his cybernetic eyes can scan opponents and if he's on the verge of death he can self destruct to take the enemy down with him.
Strength/Power:
Saitama- Calling Saitama's strength impressive would be an understatement. This guy has no shortage of physical strength feats, and has a reputation for taking down almost any enemy he fights with a single punch. He's shattered a city-level meteor with just his fist, and in his fight with his strongest enemy Boros, he was able to overpower Boros’ strongest attack, the Star Roaring Cannon, with a single Serious Punch. There are a couple different ways to interpret what the Star Roaring Cannon actually does, but at best, it's a planet destroying attack.
Genos- Genos’ destructive potential is actually frightening. The first time we saw him in action, he could engulf several city blocks in fire. In another instance, he completely obliterated an 8 story building, as well as a couple miles of forest, with one attack.
Speed:
Saitama- This Caped Baldy is capable of inhuman speed, he can effortlessly counter attacks from the ninja speedster, Speed O’ Sound Sonic and moves fast enough to leave afterimages. He also once jumped from the moon down to Earth in mere seconds, making him arguably relative to light speed.
Genos- This Demon Cyborg is also pretty insanely fast. He's arguably comparable to Speed O’ Sound Sonic, and has moved faster than the eye can see.
Toughness/Survivability:
Saitama- It seems like almost nothing can hurt this guy. He's been smashed through buildings, burned with fire, and even took a kick that sent him strait into the moon and he was barely even fazed.
Genos- While not nearly as tough as his “sensei”, Genos has shown he can endure serious wounds. He's been slashed, burned, crushed, and dowsed with acid, and still managed to fight on.
Feats:
Saitama- It should come as no surprise that Saitama has accomplished some impressive victories. He's one shot just about every enemy he's come across, beating the Subterranean King, Beast King, Carnage Kabuto, Sea King, and more. He even beat the alien, Boros, another being who had broken his limiter.
Genos- This blond cyborg has done some impressive things as well. He held his own against Mosquito Girl, defeated the cyborg Armored Gorilla, and even dazed the Sea King when several other heroes couldn't even phase him.
Weaknesses:
Saitama- Despite popular belief, Saitama is not invincible. He's still only human so he can't fly and he needs oxygen. And he has taken damage before. Perhaps worst of all is the way he craves a good fight. He holds back on foes and will even allow them to reach their strongest forms just for the chance that they could put up a good fight. As a result, he often takes a lot of free shots. Even so, no one has ever been able to push him to his limit.
Genos- Despite his impressive abilities, Genos has a terrible win-loss record. He very rarely actually beats the villain. He can also be impulsive and hot headed, which has led to his defeat multiple times. Regardless, underestimating Genos would be a grave mistake.
****(The Match)****
Saitama sat in his home, bored. He looked through magazines, watered his plants, watched some television, anything to pass the time. Suddenly, Genos entered, carrying a folder.
“Oh, Genos.” Saitama looked at the blond cyborg.
“Sensei, I've been given a new mission,” Genos began, “And I believe I'll need your help.”
“Hmm?” Saitama tilted his head. Genos opened the folder, showing pictures of Android 18 and documents of the Red Ribbon Army.
“This assignment is old,” Genos began, “But apparently, many years ago the world was under the threat of the Red Ribbon Army. They were defeated, but one of their scientists, Dr. Gero, survived and built androids like this to ravage the Earth. Sensei, we need to stop these androids, or else they will kill countless innocents, and-”
“Oh for crying out loud,” Saitama grumbled, “That's WAY to long an explanation. Just tell me in ten words or less.”
“Er, right…” Genos sweat dropped, “Um… She's bad and we must stop her.”
“I see…”Saitama began.
“It's a god level assignment.” Genos added. At that Saitama got a little interested, then nodded.
Elsewhere, Android 18 had her arms crossed as she faced Krillin.
“Do we really have to do this?” Krillin asked with a sigh.
“Well I have to whip you into shape every once in a while.” 18 replied, getting into a fighting stance.
“T-Try not to kill me, dear…” Krillin sweat dropped, getting into a stance as well. Suddenly, 18 stopped as she and Krillin could sense an approaching energy. 18 then jumped out of the way as Genos attacked.
“She's quick…” Genos groaned as he was joined by Saitama.
“Another android…?!” 18 gasped, readying herself for a fight.
“Grr!” Krillin groaned, “I'm sick of all these monkey fighting androids in this monday to friday timeline!”
Suddenly Saitama punched Krillin in the face, sending him through a wall.
“Krillin!” 18 gasped.
“No one can endure more than one of Saitama Sensei's punches.” Genos began, “He's lucky if he's still ali-”
“Ouch!” Krillin groaned, getting up from the rubble, “That hurt!”
“He's still conscious…?” Saitama began, “This could be interesting.”
FIGHT!!!
Android 18 and Genos flew off as Krillin and Saitama traded blows.
Genos fired several blasts at 18, who blocked each blow. 18 flew up, landing a punch to Genos’ chest. He grunted, then landed a barrage of blows.
“Machine Gun Blow!” Genos yelled as he hit 18 with rapid fiery blows. He then sent her to the ground and blasted her with fire, engulfing the area in flames. “It's done…” Genos began, but froze as he realized 18 was still standing there, unharmed with her arms crossed. “What…?!” Genos breathed. 18 brushed a lock of hair behind her ear and smirked.
“Tuckered out already?” she asked, “I'm disappointed. Now, my turn!” she then charged at him.
Meanwhile, Krillin's fist hit Saitama's as a shockwave made the ground burst.
“Wow, you're really strong.” Krillin remarked, aiming a kick.
“Too strong.” Saitama responded as he blocked, “Almost no one can withstand more than one of my punches.”
“Heh, guess that makes me lucky.” Krillin said, jumping back, “Haaaaaaaaaaaaa!” As he exclaimed, his power rose.
“... Ok.” Saitama stared blanklybat the powering up Krillin. Krillin then started charging his attack.
“Ka… me…” Krillin began, “Ha… me… HA!!!” he then sent a large blast at his foe. Saitama punched the beam away, then ran up and slammed Krillin to the ground.
“You're pretty strong yourself.” Saitama remarked, noticing his fist was a bit burned, then getting serious as Krillin entered the No Ego Zone.
“INCINERATE!” Genos yelled, shooting a large blast of fire at Android 18.
“Power Blitz!” 18 exclaimed, shooting her own blast. The two blasts collided, each one struggling for superiority. The beam struggle suddenly exploded, knocking both blond cyborgs back. 18 then dashed at Genos and knocked him into the air, then landed several brutal punches and kicks. 18 finished by kicking Genos’ right arm, breaking it off at the elbow before 18 slammed him to the ground.
“No…” Genos groaned, trying to get up, “I… I'm not… finished y-” 18 then zoomed down and stomped on Genos’ back, slamming him down again and knocking him out.
“Too bad.” 18 sighed, “Just when I was starting to get a little serious.” she then dashed in to help Krillin.
Krillin and Saitama were trading blows fiercely. Krillin jumped back and shot several energy blasts. Saitama dodged each one. Suddenly, Saitama was behind Krillin, drawing back his fist for a Serious Punch.
“Huh…?!” Krillin looked back as Saitama's fist came at him. The ground burst, as Saitama's fist was caught by Android 18.
“What?” Saitama asked.
“Let's do this Krillin!” 18 exclaimed.
“Alright!” Krillin nodded. He and 18 then landed barrages of punches and kicks. To Saitama's surprise, each hit hurt like hell. Krillin and 18 then each hit Saitama with powerful Ki blasts. Saitama flew back, soon passing out.
“Guess that's that.” 18 brushed her hair aside.
****(The Results)****
Whoa, take it easy One Punch Man fans! Before you rage, hear me out. I love One Punch Man, it's one of my favorite shows and when it comes to personal preference I'd pick it over DBZ pretty much any day. But unfortunately, Saitama and Genos simply didn't stand a chance in this fight and I'll tell you why.
Let's start with the simple stuff, poor Genos didn't have a prayer against either of these two. He was a cool character, but his feats of strength and durability were at the very best large building to city block level, while both Krillin and 18 regularly face off against enemies that are at the very least planet level. Either of them could take out Genos with almost no effort.
Up next is proving Saitama's limits, which is pretty tricky. Many fans like to assume that because Saitama broke his limiter, that makes him a being of infinite power, but that simply isn't true. Breaking his limiter just means he can continue to grow stronger with work (in the context of Dragon Ball, it's like how Saiyans have no real limit to how strong they can grow through training). He even acknowledged he has limits when he claimed Genos could one day surpass him. With that out of the way, there's another big hurdle to proving his limits, and that's actually finding it. The bad news is, since no one's ever really pushed Saitama all that fair, it's impossible to determine exactly how strong he is. The good news is, we can make reasonable assumptions about his possible limits thanks to his fight with Boros. In that fight, Saitama bested Boros’ Star Roaring Cannon with one serious punch. There are at least two ways to interpret what this attack does. It either destroys the planet or destroys just the planet's surface. In addition we don't really know how much of Saitama's power was being used. For the sake of this argument, I'm going to say the Star Roaring Cannon is a planet busting attack and that Saitama was only using 1% of his real power to beat it (some fans like to say it took less than 1% but the fact that Saitama was serious means it's actually very likely more than 1%. For this argument though, I'm giving Saitama the most generous assumptions I can without overestimating him too much). So there we are, Saitama at 1% power is slightly above planet buster level. The rest is simple, multiply that by 100, and Saitama at his best has enough strength to obliterate nearly a dozen solar systems in one go. That's seriously impressive… just, not compared to Krillin and 18.
Both Krillin and 18 were capable of defending from attacks from Goku in Super Saiyan Blue form. Goku in a much weaker form, Super Saiyan God, was capable of Universal levels of power and the Super Saiyan Blue form is many times stronger, making him multi-universal level at that point. Granted, Goku was DEFINITELY holding back against Krillin and 18, but even if he was only using 1% of his power there, it would still be many times more powerful than Saitama at his best. Not only could Krillin and 18 block attacks vastly more powerful than Saitama, but they were also more than capable of hurting him. In his fight with Boros, Saitama took damage, meaning someone who's at least planet level can hurt him. In other words, 18 and Krillin could hurt him, but he couldn't hurt them.
I wish I could say Saitama one shots both of them, but the facts are these, even if I was to overestimate Saitama and say he's up to galaxy level in power, it still wouldn't be enough to take down either of his opponents. And all this time I've just been talking about how they trump him in just raw power. Let's not forget Krillin and 18 are both also more experienced, better trained, better strategists, and they have feats that puts Saitama's best feats to shame.
Winners: Krillin and Android 18
