*Good* Cole vs Yang (inFAMOUS vs RWBY)
When in combat, one will be confronted with danger many times. While most people would react to danger in fear or frustration, these two greet danger with a smart remark and a punch in the face.
For this match up, I'll be using the “Good” version of Cole, since that version is more appropriate for this fight.
****(Cole)****
Full Name: Cole MacGrath
Gender: Male
Species: Human, Conduit
Occupation: Crime fighter
Backstory: Throughout most of his life, Cole MacGrath was just your average man. A college dropout and a bike courier in Empire City, you wouldn't see him as anything more than just another man. But all that changed when an organization of crazy people called the First Sons tricked Cole into activating a bomb, which blew up most of the city. But don't worry, it's one of those good explosions that give you superpowers. Cole survived the blast from this device called the Ray Sphere and woke up as a Conduit, a person with superhuman abilities. With these new powers, Cole set out to defeat the gangs that now infested Empire City.
Fighting Styles: Cole's a self taught fighter, and is equally deadly in hand to hand combat, sharp shooting, and a sort of sword fighting technique.
Weapons: Cole's main and only weapon is the Amp, a blunt object, which he can channel electricity through to zap enemies while hitting them.
Powers: As a Conduit, Cole possesses numerous superhuman powers. His main powers revolve around creating and manipulating lightning. He can shoot lightning bolts from his hands, enhance his attacks with electricity, shoot a literal shockwave from his palms, and even hover in the air with his static thrusters. He can create a bullet proof lightning shield, throw electric grenades, shoot electric rockets from his hands, use a sort of telekinesis to lift and throw large objects, which then explode on impact, and more. He can heal injured people, stick them to the ground, or use Bio Leech to literally drain the life out of them, instantly healing himself of any wounds he's sustained. Perhaps his most useful ability is his uncanny power to absorb electricity from anything containing electricity. This can heal wounds and restore lost power. And those are just his electric abilities. After doing a little power swapping with his conduit friend and possible love interest, Kuo, Cole also gained ice powers. He can perform ice versions of almost all his lightning powers, as well as some new ones, like creating an ice pillar beneath him for a super jump. But easily Cole's best abilities are his Ionic powers. With these, he can create an electric tornado, send out a freezing wave of ice spikes, or summon a barrage of lightning bolts from the sky that can one shot about anything. Finally, Cole also possesses a minor healing factor, which lets him survive serious wounds and recover faster than ordinary humans.
Strength: Cole is physically strong enough to stop the bite of a large swamp monster with his bare hands.
Speed: On foot, he doesn't have many impressive speed feats, but he was quick enough to potentially counter attacks from Nix, who is faster than Cole and could teleport.
Toughness: Cole has taken numerous would be fatal wounds and shrugged it off. He's survived being clotheslined by an incoming helicopter, getting crushed in the hands of a giant Conduit, and even took a direct hit from an RPG and was back up kicking butt literally moments later.
Feats: Over his adventures, Cole's taken down numerous gangs, swamp monsters, and Conduits. He's defeated Joseph Bertrand, who had turned into a gargantuan kaiju style monster, and he's defeated Kuo, and even the Beast, a Conduit who could take a nuke to the face and walk it off. (In a crossover, Cole went toe to toe with Raiden from Metal Gear) He even killed Kessler, who was actually Cole from a post apocalyptic future.
Weaknesses: Cole is certainly deadly, but he's not perfect. Much of his fighting is done with a sort of keep away strategy, hiding behind cover and picking off enemies one by one. If he doesn't have cover to hide behind, it's fairly easy to overwhelm him. Also almost all of his powers rely on a limited supply of electricity stored in his body, and his more powerful moves cost more power. If he can't find a light pole or generator to refill his energy, he'll be extremely limited when his reserves run dry. Also water is his kryptonite. Even so, there's a reason why Cole MacGrath is called the Demon of Empire City.
****(Yang)****
Full Name: Yang Xiao Long
Gender: Female
Species: Human, Cyborg
Occupation: Huntress
Backstory: Born as the daughter of a Huntsman and the leader of a tribe of Bandits, Yang and her half sister Ruby grew up wanting to join the ranks of the glorious monster hunters, the Huntsmen and Huntresses. After some serious training, Yang got the skills to pay the bills, and would expand her fighting talents further by joining Beacon Academy, one of the main schools for Huntsmen and Huntresses. Whilst there, Yang and Ruby would soon meet friends like Weiss Schnee and Yang's partner/possible love interest, Blake. Together, the four girls formed team RWBY, and would soon go on a number of adventures.
Fighting Styles: Yang's been trained by both her father and her uncle, both of which are deadly Huntsmen. Yang prefers hand to hand combat when entering a fight.
Weapons: Yang wears the Ember Celica, a gauntlet on her left arm that can shoot explosive blasts at an opponent. She used to have a second gauntlet for her right arm… until that arm was cut off by a crazy ninja terrorist named Adam Taurus. But don't worry, Yang later got a cool new robot arm to replace the old one. This one can shoot blasts just like the Ember Celica, and she can even shoot the robo arm out for a long ranged punch.
Powers: As a Huntress, Yang is capable of a couple superhuman powers. She can use aura, a manifestation of her soul that grants her inhuman durability and a minor healing factor. She can also use her Semblance, which lets her absorb power from any damage she takes, adding their power to hers. And if she gets angry enough, she'll use the added power to go into a sort of super mode, boosting her strength and speed even further.
Strength: Yang is strong enough to send a man bouncing all over the room like a cartoon with a single punch. With an added boost from her semblance she shattered a war mech into pieces with only two punches. Without help from her semblance she's strong enough to send grown men flying and match fellow powerhouse, Nora Valkyrie, in arm wrestling.
Speed: Yang can move and attack so fast she appears to be a blur. Most impressively, she has traded blows with the assassin, Mercury Black, multiple times. Mercury was quick enough to intercept Ruby, who can easily move faster than eyesight, so Yang likely possesses similar reflexes.
Toughness: Yang is tough enough to get smashed through a solid concrete pillar holding up a bridge and shrug it off like it's nothing. And at one point, she took a hit that sent her flying so high up, she didn't come back down for over a minute.
Feats: With her team, Yang's helped save the day more than once. She's shot down a giant bird monster, took out an entire night club of armed thugs on her own, beat the crap out of several more experienced bandits at once, and even beat her dad in unarmed combat. She even discovered an ancient legendary artifact after winning an argument with her absent mother. And I don't care what you say, winning an argument with your mom is an accomplishment in and of itself.
Weaknesses: Yang might be strong and tough, arguably her team's strongest member, but she's far from perfect. Her durability is entirely dependant on her aura, which has a limit to how much damage it can take. Once her aura’s beat, Yang herself is as fragile as any other teenage girl. She's also pretty hot headed and tends to charge into battle without thinking things through. Perhaps most damning, she relies on help from her team a lot of the time. Even so, if you underestimate Yang Xiao Long, you're gonna get burned.
****(The Match)****
It was a bright day in a forest just outside of Haven. In the forest was an Airship, which had been shot down by an unknown enemy. Mercury Black smirked as he and his partner Emerald approached the smoking Airship.
“Target down.” Mercury sighed in boredom, “Doesn't look like there are any survivors to put up a fight.”
“This Airship should have plenty of Dust on-board.” Emerald said, “Let's just take it and go already.” Mercury nodded and they prepared to raid the ship. Suddenly they were stopped as a blast of lightning hit the ground in front of them.
“What the…?” Mercury questioned, looking over to see the blast had come from Cole MacGrath, who was approaching the sight.
“Who are you?!” Emerald questioned.
“Just a guy that doesn't get along with badguys,” Cole began, “And you two don't exactly look like you give to charity.”
“Hmph, finally someone who might be interesting.” Mercury grinned, “I'll take this chump down in no time!” he and Emerald then charged at Cole, who smirked.
Elsewhere, Yang was taking down several monsters. As she finished, she stretched. To her surprise, she could hear thunder as Emerald and Mercury were sent flying into the distance.
“What the…?” Yang rose an eyebrow, then went to check out the scene.
Cole sighed after disposing of Emerald and Mercury. “Annoying bastards…” he said while checking out the crashed airship, “Hey! Anyone still breathing in here?” he then heard a gun like clicking behind him. He turned to see Yang.
“Who are you?” she asked.
“Heh…” Cole smirked, turning around as electricity sparked in his hands, “Back away lady, I don't wanna hurt you too.”
“Please,” Yang grinned, “Between the two of us, I'm not the one that's gonna get hurt.”
FIGHT!!!
Cole threw an electric grenade at Yang, who dodge rolled out of the way. Yang then punched a blast at Cole, who sent a shockwave that bounced the blast back at Yang. Yang dodged and ran up with a punch. She and Cole clashed fists, sparks and flames emitting from the collision. The two exchanged blows for a moment, fiery bursts coming from Yang's fists as electric blasts came from Cole's. Cole aimed a roundhouse kick. Yang somersaulted out of the way as Cole pulled out the Amp. Cole bashed the Amp against Yang's side, then hit her with a second strike to the gut.
“You picked the wrong guy to screw with!” Cole exclaimed, doing a flip as he slammed the Amp on Yang's head, making her fall face down on the ground. Cole aimed a kick at his downed opponent, but Yang rolled out of the way and got up. She then landed a punch to Cole's chest, then uppercutted him into the air. She then hit him with a third punch that sent him into the airship. As Cole recovered, he shot several electric blasts at Yang, who dodged most until one hit her shoulder. She groaned, then punched a blast as Cole shot an ice rocket. The two blasts collided, sending flames and ice scattering around. The two paused to catch their breath. Cole held up his hands, then electricity came out of the airship and went into his body as Yang reloaded ammo into her gauntlet and arm.
“Ready to give up, Goldie locks?” Cole grinned.
“You wish, Sparky.” Yang smirked.
Cole sent a wave of ice spikes at Yang. The golden haired Huntress leapt up in the air, dodging, then blasted a few blasts at Cole. Cole formed a frost shield, blocking the blasts as Yang landed. Cole lifted his hands, using his telekinetic powers to lift the large airship and throw it at Yang. Yang got out of the way, but was still blasted back. As she started to get up, Cole grinned.
“Clowns like you never learn!” he remarked, sending a tornado that sucked up Yang.
“Whoa…!” she exclaimed. She noticed the airship getting sucked up too. She managed to stand on the airship and stabilize enough to retaliate. She clashed her fists together, going into her super mode as the tornado vanished.
“The hell…?!” Cole gasped as Yang zoomed up at him and landed a barrage of blows, finishing with a punch to the face, knocking Cole threw several trees, passing out. Yang took a few breaths, going back to her usual self.
“Well… what a Shocking outcome.” She smirked.
****(The Results)****
Wow, this was an awesome fight, now to discuss the results.
Yang had a lot of advantages in the comparison. She was faster, tougher, and stronger for starters. And, given that Cole's total adventures take place over the course of around one year, two at most, Yang was more experienced and better trained too. Plus, her brutal attacks and more straight forward approach was the perfect thing to overwhelm Cole. Not to mention, Yang's seen electricity and ice users in action before, while Cole's never seen anyone with abilities quite like Yang's.
To be fair, Cole had his own big advantages too. His powers were way more varied and versatile than Yang, and Cole himself was significantly more powerful than Yang. With enough power to bring down the beast, there was no doubt that Cole could wear down Yang's aura eventually. However, Yang's semblance quickly turned that raw power against Cole, and she was able to wear him down before he wore her down.
