In Norwegian you say kjæreste instead of boyfriend or girlfriend. It is gender neutral and translates to "the dearest."

In Swedish you refer to your boyfriend or girlfriend by saying älskling which means "my beloved one."

In Finnish you say mulkvisti which directly translates to "one I don't hate as much as the others."
