My parents were downsizing recently and while cleaning out their house my Mom found some of my stories I wrote when I was a kid, probably about 6 years old.  Intriguingly there was a collection I had entitled "Funny Friends" and it had a table of contents with the titles of the stories listed.  Rather than immediately read the stories, I thought it might be fun to write new stories now with the same titles and see how they compare with my efforts as a kid.

To be clear, I will not re-read the old stories before I write the new ones.  I don't remember anything about the old ones so I have no idea what they're about, aside from whatever clues I can glean from the titles.  It'll be interesting to see if my brain follows along any of the same channels so many years later.  Once I've written a new story I will then read the kid story and post them both here.

I think I'll change the formatting of the child stories so they're easier to read and I might or might not correct any glaring spelling errors I find, but I'll leave all the word choices and grammar exactly as I did when I wrote them.  From what I remember I was pretty good at spelling and grammar even when I was pretty young so I don't think they'll be unreadable.  But I guess we'll see.
