On Montressor and the Hawkins
Jim was walking about, thinking about his father, remembering the day he left him and his mother, giving a small sigh.
I wish my father never left me, and I wish I had a friend, he thought miserably, kicking a rock.
The young teen then heard soft groaning. Looking up in surprise, he spotted someone lying on the ground near the BenBow Inn, a reptilian someone. Jim quickly ran over to see if whoever it was was okay.
It was a crocodile; dressed in strange clothes, and wearing a small helmet. Plus he appeared to be unconscious. Jim checked his pulse, and felt a small one, so he wasn't dead.
Mom's gonna love this, Jim thought sarcastically, knowing he couldn't leave the croc out here by himself. Giving a sigh, Jim hauled the croc's arm over his shoulder (for he was pretty heavy), and brought him over to the inn, where hopefully his mother wouldn't yell at him again for bringing in a stranger who was a crocodile.
....
Mrs. Hawkins gave a sigh after the last of the customers left, washing the dishes, memories of her once carefree young child in her mind. She still hoped that one day, her Jim would find his way out of the darkness and sadness in his heart. Even with Dr. Doppler there to try to help, it was still a challenge.
The door suddenly opened, and she turned to see Jim, with a crocodile?
She gasped aloud. "James Pleiades Hawkins, what have-who is that?" She exclaimed, as Jim struggled to bring the croc inside, who was unconscious.
"But he needs our help, mom. Please?" Jim begged desperately. Sarah rubbed her temples. She didn't like the idea of bringing a strange croc into the Inn. But now she saw that he didn't look too good, with a small bump on his head and a few bruises. So she ended up nodding.
"Bring him into a guest room, I'll tend to him if you help me down here," she then said. Jim's eyes lit up as he nodded, and brought his new friend upstairs.
The next few days involved either Jim or Mrs. Hawkins watching over their new unconscious guest, making sure he was cared for well enough.
Mrs. Hawkins rubbed a damp cloth on the croc's head, until she heard him move. He was waking up.
....
Fung gave a groan, his head felt like it had gotten hit with a sledgehammer. He opened his eyes, to see a middle aged human woman in front of him.
"G-gah! Wh-who-? Wh-where?" He gasped, panicking again, feeling blankets on his body. The woman tried calming him down.
"Please, don't hurt yourself, we helped you," the woman said gently. Fung panted heavily, staring up at this strange human woman. He had heard of humans, but this was the first one he'd ever seen. Her eyes looked gentle, not hostile, so he did his best to calm down.
"But where am I?" Fung asked nervously, looking about him. He noted the small room that told him he was in a hotel or something. The woman smiled gently.
"This is the BenBow Inn on Montressor, I run it here and my son Jim lives with me. He was the one who found you," she explained. "I'm Sarah Hawkins, what's your name?"
Fung was speechless for a minute before answering. "Uhh, Fung, it's Fung. But what is a Montressor?" Sarah looked at him, raising her brow. "It's the planet you're on now. Have you hit your head hard?"
Oh no... the mirror...! Fung thought with dread. Somehow or other, the mirror must've sent him into an entirely different galaxy! Whatever happens now, he prayed that Gahri would somehow get help from the Jade Palace, Po and Shifu to help him return home.
He grinned nervously, not wanting to tell the woman he was from another dimension yet. "Yeah, er, got into a tangle with thugs who hit me quite hard, that's it," Fung explained in a fast, nervous voice. Mrs. Hawkin's brow raised even more, but decided not to press their new guest.
"Fung, since you were attacked, perhaps you could stay here until you're able to get back on your feet or return to wherever you're from. And I can use help around here; things have been tough this past year," Mrs. Hawkins then offered, wondering if a croc like this would accept a job at an inn.
Fung was surprised. Nobody had ever offered him a job before, after being a bandit for so long. Maybe... maybe this could be his chance to start over, and make friends until he returned to his croc gang. This could be a good experience for him.
The croc grinned. "I wouldn't mind, got nowhere else to go, anyway," he said. Fung at that moment heard a voice, a young male's.
"Mom, has he woken up yet?" A young teen came inside, wearing typical teen clothes, and had his hair pulled back in a ponytail. He spotted Fung and grinned.
"Nice to see you up," the boy said, as he held out his hand "Name's Jim."
Fung nodded, shaking Jim's hand. "Call me Fung, guy." He had a feeling that he was gonna like this kid.
...
And with that, Fung the croc had acquired his first job, which was to clear the tables and wash for Mrs. Hawkins since she did both for a while. He encountered quite a few interesting characters, most of them weren't even human.
Mrs. Hawkins had also introduced Fung to Dr. Doppler, a dog like alien who seemed quite friendly.
Jim and Fung became the most unusual of friends, Fung told Jim his story about once being a pretty klutzy bandit, but now he wanted to start over.
Jim had smiled. "Well, uh, if you want, I can be your friend, I don't have many of them, either."
Fung nodded. "Yeah. All I got so far are my croc gang and I still live in my mom's basement. But it will be nice to have a new one," he grinned. Jim grinned back. "So, guess we're friends."
...
One day, Jim took Fung out to look at his vehicle, a solar surfer. Fung traced his hand along the side of it, whistling.
"This ain't nothin' like I've ever seen, Guy. It's cool," he said in an impressed voice. Then Jim had a grin, an idea coming.
"Hey, uh, would you like to try it out?" The boy asked. Fung was pretty startled. He couldn't imagine himself on this thing, but he was in a new world, a new planet, so he guessed it made sense to give new things here a shot, so he nodded.
Jim got onto the front, while Fung held onto him in the back. His friend stepped on the button which activated the solar sail, and they were off into the air.
This was flying like Fung had never experienced before, the wind blew in his face, as he smiled. At first he was scared but Jim encouraged him to open his eyes, and the view from the solar surfer was amazing.
Jim at one point got pretty daring as he turned the solar surfer up towards the clouds, then turned off the sail. Fung's eyes popped as they began to fall.
"Wh-what are you doing guy? This isn't funny!" Screamed Fung out loud, shutting his eyes as Jim twirled around in the air. Fung flinched, bracing himself for the crash, but it didn't happen, Jim turned the sail back on right on time, letting out a happy shout while they flew threw the canyons, Fung gripping on with all his might, but making sure his claws didn't hurt his friend.
They approached a work area, where Jim got even bolder, much to Fung's dismay, as they flew past the yellow security line, and the croc winced again, having his fare share of crossing security. He didn't want to go to jail here!
Jim smoothly flew all around the machinery, approaching a giant blade machine. Fung didn't think they could make it.
"Whatever you're going to do, don't do it!" He screamed. Jim smirked. "Aw, come on! You used to be a bandit, we can do this!" Fung squeezed his eyes shut. "Can't watch this, guy!" He moaned, while Jim flew even closer. Fung drew in short panicked breaths as they managed to fly past the sharp blades, barely hitting Fung's helmet. They had done it!
Fung gave a chuckling nervous sigh of relief while Jim cheered, turning to his friend. "Fun huh?"
The croc frowned. "Never again!" He huffed, still breathing shakily. "We almost got—!" Sirens began to blare, and the two saw security robots right behind them. Jim narrowed his eyes. "Great."
