Blood Is Thicker Than Ink

The door pushed open with a simply ting of an old bell.  You peaked inside to find the soft glow of lights still on. You carefully entered, trying to make less noise with the door as you closed it behind you with caution. If you could just stay for the night in the library then maybe you could avoid detection. A shiver ran down your spine as you clutched onto your wounded arm tightly, blood dripping down your forearm down your fingertips. You forced yourself forward, each step carefully and calculated as to not alert anyone to your presence. You found yourself stepping through a doorway and found yourself in the library itself. The walls lined with testaments and tomes of the past and present as well as fiction from the days of tomorrow. A soft smile graced your lips as you stepped forth, admiring the collection. You detached your uninjured hand to swipe up at the strands of hir in your face to start the watering of your eyes. But was it really the hair or...

???: Hold it right there!

A soft male voice halted your progression. They must have just entered due to the voice coming from behind you. You turned to look over your shoulder and felt numb at the sight of the person. It was your younger brother. The black-haired boy did always look more like your mother. In his hands, he clutched a book and in the other a candle. Ah. He must have been coming in here to read.

(Y/n): Dieter...

You saw the boy visibly freeze up upon those words leaving your lips. My how he had grown these past few years. He wasn't the young boy you once remembered him as.

Dieter: How do you know my name?!

You responded with silence.

Dieter: Answer me damnit!

(Y/n): You won't like my answer.

You've found Dieter now where is-

You were cut off by the sound of something clicking. Turning slowly to gaze over your other shoulder, you found another copy of Dieter. His twin, Diederich. The boy, much more rambunctious than Dieter, was holding a pistol at what he saw as an intruder.

Diederich: Hands in the air.

(Y/n): I've suffered a wound. I'm afraid I can't comply with your order.

Dieter: Turn around.

That statement managed to bring fear and panic to your heart. Neither of them of them was suppose to be down here. You once more heard the click of a gun and let out a tired sigh. Sluggishly, you turned in your spot. You now faced your younger brothers. You haven't seen them for two years. Diederich still looked ready to kill you in a moments notice, however, Dieter analyzed your features. There was a part of you that wanted Dieter to realize who you were, to realize you are finally home and the family can be back together again. and then there is another part of you that wants them to not recognize you. To let you leave and never put them in danger again.

???: Put that gun away Diedriech.

The boys turned to the person coming from behind them. You had no doubt in your mind who it was. Most imagine a father figure as a tall figure with an overpowering presence. However, your father was nothing like that. You towered a good foot taller than he and even your younger brothers were preparing to outgrow him. He was an older man with his greying hair combed neatly into a part. His (E/c) eyes hiding behind a pair of round spectacles as he approached the two. He pulled the gun from his son's hands and gripped it as he moved to stand in front of you. His cold eyes met yours as you looked down at the man. For a brief moment, you saw a flicker of emotion in his eyes before another emotion took over. A smile filled his features as he gripped at your shoulders and pulled you down to where he could give you a proper hug.

Father: You've finally come home (Y/n) my boy.

Diederich: (Y/n)?!

Dieter: I-It's really you?

The twins always had their own ways of expressing emotions, but they both approached and joined the improvised family hug. For a few seconds, your heart lept in your chest at reconnecting with your family. A hand gripped your wrist, and you found your father watching the blood trickle down your fingers.

Father: Diederich go get some medical supplies for your brother. Dieter, tell your mother and sister to ready an extra room.

(Y/n): No...

Father: No?

You contemplated telling your father, but soon just settled on the idea he would find out either way.

(Y/n): I'm being hunted by the military.

Father: For being a traitor... I know.

(Y/n): N-

Father: Wait don't tell me... you were a part of the attack tonight?

You simply nodded. A yelp escaped your throat as a sudden smack to the back of the head invoked a bit of pain.

Father: I didn't raise you to make such stupid decisions and yet here you are!

(Y/n): I had planned on staying here for the night and leaving once the storm had died down, but it appears I was caught by someone else.

Your father sighed and shooed off the twins to do their assigned tasks. Your father frowned as he took a hold on your cheeks staring deeply into your eyes.

Father: Your eyes use to tell a beautiful story of their own my son... now all I see is a black abyss. What happened to you, my boy?

You swallowed lightly and clung to your arm tighter. The familiar burning sensation crawling up your back from your nightmares.

(Y/n): It is a long story...

Father: Then you can tell your mother and I. We will house you until they give up the search-

(Y/n): I can't ask you to do that Father. I can't allow my loved ones to be put in danger because of me.

Father: You may be a grown man, but I'm still your father. Now we are going to take care of you and that is final.

You wanted to protest and insist and simply staying in the library, but your head felt light and you swayed lightly from the drip dripping of your sanguine fluid upon the floor.

Father: I'll have Diederich clean it up later. Now here we go.

Your father draped your healthy arm over his shoulder and began to walk you out of the library. Just down the street sat the (L/n) residence. You were too weak to fight back, but now you needed to come to a decision. Do you tell your family the whole truth? Or leave out the trauma that has followed you these past few years. You would need to decide pretty quick.

A/n: Howdy folks! I do hope you enjoyed and if you did please leave a comment telling me how I did. I'll either update My hero or SDS next so I hope you enjoy those as well. Thank you for reading and I'll see you in the next update!
