A New Path
???: I don't know what those doctors were thinking when they examined you.
???: So it's more serious than I thought. Well, I could have guessed that.
???: Your arm will eventually heal but the nerve damage done will render your pinky and ring finger useless.
The other male chuckled softly, looking down at his arm.
???: Do you think your alchemy could fix the nerve damage?
???: Healing a broken bone or a gash is one thing, but nerve damage is a rather complicated bit of health. I can attempt to fix it but with how intricate nerves and muscle tissue are I might end up ruining your whole arm.
???: I see... stilfe the damage now or risk reigniting the fire. I understand, Dr. Marcoh.
The doctor let out a sigh through his nose.
Dr. Marcoh: I truly wish I could help you, Mr. Mackinson.
Heinz: Oh I'm n- Ah yes well It should have been expected. I thought the doctors at central might have glazed over my injuries with everything that had happened.
Your free hand lifted to run through your (H/c) locks, feeling your oily locks slick back with your hands. You really needed to stop running your hand through your hair.
Dr. Marcoh: Ah I'm sorry I kept youlater than intended. You will need to run to catch your train.
Heinz: It's quite alright. My arm is messed up not my legs.
Dr. Marcoh: Well I don't wish to interrupt your run but would you mind giving this to that young man.
Heinz: You mean Edward?
Dr. Marcoh: It's the location of my resources for the philosopher stone project. If he truly wishes to pursue this path then I will help him in my small way.
You glanced down at the piece of paper before taking the note. A momentof humanity rose up through the mask you wore and you spoke, knowing the others had returned to the train.
(Y/n): I can understand why you would run from those monsters.
Dr. Marcoh: Huh?
(Y/n): It's hard to run away from the monsters when they turn you into one, but I wish you all the luck in the world doctor, from one sinner to another.
Dr. Marcoh's eyes looked you up and down and seemed to get your message. He chuckled softly and nodded.
Dr. Marcoh: I don't really understand why you would go back nor do I wish to know, but I wish you luck as well... well I suppose I should call you Heinz.
You simply nodded your head and wished the doctor well once more. As you turned the door to his office you nearly ran into a woman, though she was no ordinary woman. You could tell right away that she was... how would you put this... a different type of woman compared to those you knew. She seemed to have a seductive air to her as her inky black attire filled your sight. Her pale complexion was framed by her long flowing black hair, her darkened lips crept into a smile as your ink-colored eyes met her narrow mauve ones. The one seemingly didn't miss a bit her hand reaching out to run a finger along your chest. As you looked down to watch her hand, you couldn't help but notice the strange tattoo on her chest.
???: Well well hello there little soldier boy~
Her sultry voice filled your spine with chills, your body trembling under her touch as your breath caught in your throat at the sudden event. You swallowed down your surprise and found in your tired and unhealthy state that you would play along with the strange woman. A soft smirk crept onto your face as your unrestrained hand reached out to grip the woman's chin softly. Her skin felt a rather weird mix of welcomingly warm and frighteningly cold. Like you hand looked the grim reaper in the face and simply lifted his chin.
(Y/n): You are quite the lovely sight my dear~ But an angel like yourself shouldn't be locking arms with a sinner like me~
???: Oh~? I'm an angel am I? Well I assure you little solider boy, I can be plenty naughty when I need to~
You chuckled softly, hoping your counterfeit confidence would overshadow the nervousness filling your body.
(Y/n): Well angel, I sadly need to depart from you for now.
???: Oh don't worry, you're a lot more fun than I thought! I think we'll be meeting once more pretty soon little solider boy~
You felt the cold rush of death breeze past you into the office of Dr. Marcoh. You let out a breath quickly, not realizing you had been holding it for so long. In the distance you heard a whistle.
(Y/n): Oh! Oh gosh darn it the train!
You yelled out, spriting through the streets of the small town to try and reach the train before you were left behind.
Heinz: It is very nice to meet you Ms. Rockbell. I am Heinz Von Mackinson, the Storybook Alchemist.
Ms. Rockbell: It is quite nice to meet you, young man. My you're quite tall aren't you.
Edward: Granny you're supposed to say that to me!
Ms. Rockbell: Why would I say something that is clearly untrue?
Edward: I'm still taller than you, ya old hag!
You heard a sound and examined your surroundings in time to see a reach fly into the face of the the older Elric Brother.
Heinz: Ah Edward?! Are you alright?!
???: Edward! I thought I told you to call first when you come back here for maintenance!
You looked up in time to see a young blonde woman. Her strength is rather impressive, humming a wrench with such force and accuracy.
Sabine: That blonde's pretty dangerous...
It danwed on you that this is the first time Sabine has said anything in awhile. Even when you returned to the train she seemed to be caught in her own thoughts.
Heinz: Well I think she'll be interesting.
Sabine looked over at you with a judging look.
Heinz: What?
Sabine: Major... you're not into... that stuff right?
Heinz: That stuff? What do you... oh... oh! Heck no! What gave you that thought?!
Sabine started laughing at your outburst. She didn't get to enjoy it for long as you felt a rather large hand on your shoulder. You looked up to see Louis Armstrong, the other person assigned to your small traveling band.
Louis: Why don't we go inside? It's been a long trip.
You and Sabine agreed, quickly moving in alongside the Rockbell's and the Elric Brothers. As Sabine brushed past you, your eyes caught sight of the Rockbell's sign. Taking note of their business a rather gruesome though logical thought filled your mind.
(Y/n): Automail huh...
