"Ms Winters, what happened on March 19 2016 when you were home alone?" Oliver asked.
I took a deep breath before answering, "I was home packing our belongings to leave."
"Why were you leaving?" He asked.
My eyes flickered towards the jury, "I received a message from Noah saying he'll see me soon, I panicked out of fear and figured running was my best option."
"So what happened when you were half way through packing?" He asked.
"Noah was already inside my house telling me how much he missed me."
"I refer you all to exhibit A, this is what resulted that Night, he engraved his name in my clients arm as a way of "marking his territory." Oliver said as he handed out an A4 piece of paper to the Judge and Jury. I thought that was it until he walked towards something next to the Judge and removed the black curtain. It was an A3 size copy of my arm before it got stitches so it was quite grousem to look at. However, in a weird way it was refreshing to hear a few gasps because it meant they were shocked by the content.
"Ms Winters, please explain what was said prior to this happening?" Oliver asked.
This was the first time my eyes landed on Noah, I almost got a sense of satisfaction when I could see that he was still healing with a bruised and battered eye and a cut lip. Jaxon must of really done a number on him. Regardless of that though, I kept my eyes straight ahead because I was terrified to look at the photo. Hell, I still had the bandage on and it was merely a scar now, if I couldn't look at that then I had no hope in looking back at the fresh cuts.
"He said he wanted to play a game. For every message I received from Jaxon or Isaac, he would carve his name in."
"Can you clarify who Jaxon is to you for the Jury?" Oliver asked.
"He's my boyfriend but at the time we had broken up."
"For the record, Avery received three messages which means he got to carve the N.O.A. Ms Winters, what happened that the H got there?"
I inhaled slowly before exhaling, "Isaac had called my phone and got into a fight with Noah when Noah answered it. He said that because they pissed him off, he has to carve the H in to show the world I belong to him."
"Thank you. No further questions." Oliver said before discretely winking at me. I let out a sigh hoping I was finished until Vince stood up again, much to mine and Oliver's shock.
"Ms Winters, you said you feared for your life but you weren't cooperating with the police at all. Why's that?"
"I was scared to."
"So you were scared for weeks to press charges and now out of the blue you decide to press charges?"
"It wasn't out of the blue. I was terrified of him, look at what he did to my arm. It took a lot of courage for me to finally press charges."
"It sounds to me someone pressured you." He said
"Objection!" Oliver said.
"Sustained. Be careful Mr Maysberry." The judge warned
"No further questions, your honour." Vince said before walking to his seat. This man was beginning to piss me off, just when I felt like I made progress he destroys it for me. I clenched my jaw as I waited for the judge to excuse me from the stand, once he excused me I quickly got off and walked towards my dad. I wanted to sit in a corner and cry as soon as I got off the stand.
My dad leaned in and whispered, "You did so well."
I looked down when I felt Jaxon snake his fingers through the railing to hold my hand which was now dangling off my chair, "Take deep breaths." he whispered. I did just that, taking long deep breaths, inhaling and exhaling as Oliver continued to talk to the jury. I needed to calm down, refusing to let my emotions get the best of me.
Over the last three days I couldn't help but feel like my dirty laundry was now on display for everyone. Everyone had officially seen everything, from the messages, me getting a new phone to Drew's recollection about what happened at the cafe. Vince has been completely overbearing and reading in between a lot of line that had no meaning, he was throwing serious doubt to the point when I even questioned the way I said a few words. Had I lead Noah on and not realised?
We officially learnt that Vince was a dirty lawyer, trying to manipulate our words to mean something else. He managed to get me and Isaac in it, thankfully he never got to Drew but then again Drew was only a witness to the cafe fiasco so there wasn't anything interesting for Vince to cling to. I refused to listen to his final speech as he tried to talk about how Noah just needs medical help and doesn't need time in prison.
He even managed to say that I was begging for the attention because of how long it took for me to press charges. I didn't want people thinking that about me, it burnt through my blood that I had to sit there and listen to this moron talk shit about me. I kept my mind focused on Jaxon's fingers as he held on my hand again, it was my sense of comfort and it's like he knew it. I kept my eyes on Vince as he turned to return to his seat, giving Oliver a wink before sitting down. This guy was the definition of cocky. Oliver took one quick glance at me before getting up to address the jury.
"I refer you to exhibit B, proof that Noah is in fact a danger to society as well as my client and her boyfriend."
My ears perked up. Exhibit B? I didn't know he had more proof, why wasn't I aware of this? I waited eagerly just like everyone else as Oliver turned the TV on and started to play the tape. My eyes widened in disbelief as I watched this video. Here we sat motionless as we watched the video of Noah attacking Jaxon after our movie date. Panic started to rise when the video kept rolling to show Jaxon punching Noah repeatedly. At least now they knew why he had a bruised eye and busted lip. How did they get their hands on this video? How did they even know about it? How come they didn't tell me? Warned me?
I took a deep breath because all these questions were beginning to give me a migraine. I just needed to ask my dad because I knew it would be one or two reasons. Either a) Jaxon told Drew who then told dad about the fight or b) Dad had me followed. I almost laughed out loud when I realised how ridiculous the second one sounded. I knew I had to ask my dad later on about what had happened but it wasn't a priority, at this stage I knew it was potentially helping us win this case. That's all that mattered at the moment.
"Vince wants everyone to believe that Noah means no harm to this society but is this not an action of a crazed man? These two young ones were out that night, watching a movie and minding their own business until Jaxon was viciously attacked by Mr Daniels. For absolutely.no.reason. leaving Jaxon to defend himself and his girlfriend. What's to say he won't attack one of your kids, nieces, nephews? He is a danger to society and needs to be punished for his crimes that he committed. As we have seen over the last three days, he has done nothing but constantly torment my client with threats and stalking tendencies. Just look at the evidence that keeps piling up against him."
Once Oliver wrapped up his final speech he turned to make his way back to his chair before winking at Vince, returning the favour. I almost smiled when I saw how angry Vince looked. It was clear that Oliver was using this evidence to support his argument but I'm assuming the judge was aware of it because he didn't interrupt or object to the evidence.
I have now been sitting on my living room couch for what felt like hours playing the waiting game. We waited in the court room for the first two hours before being instructed to go home. It made me nervous that the jury were taking a long time, that clearly meant there were definitely objections. My heart began to race as I thought about the possibility of Noah being found not guilty, I didn't want to live in the same world as Noah. I didn't want to live at all as long as Noah was a free man.
I gasped when I felt someone wrapped their arm around my shoulders, instantly relaxing when I saw Jaxon. My frown deepened when I saw him place a plate of food in front of me on the coffee table.
"Babe. You haven't eaten all day and you skipped dinner." He whispered.
"I'm not hungry." I replied as I began to flick through the channels on the TV.
"Just try to eat something."
I let out a sigh as I grabbed the plate in an attempt to eat, mainly to satisfy my boyfriends concerns. But I failed miserably as my stomach kept turning. After managing to have a few bites of the food excused myself to take a shower and told the guys I was going to lie in my bed.
I smiled when I saw Jaxon standing at the doorway, I had asked him to sleep over because Isaac had some errands to run and I didn't want to be alone. No words were needed between us, I flipped my blanket open and waited as he walked over to the other side of my bed. I couldn't help but watch him as he took his shirt off while leaving his flannelette pants on before coming into bed. I instantly felt calm as his aftershave took over my senses, just like that my eyes began to feel heavy and before I knew it, I was fast asleep.

This was the moment of truth. Literally, we had been sitting in this court room waiting for the jury to return. It took them over ten hours to make a decision which only freaked me out, what if they all thought he was innocent and there was one person thinking he was guilty? I shook my head to clear my mind because I couldn't afford a nervous breakdown in front of these people.
My eyes immediately snapped towards the first jury who handed a piece of paper to the court guard to hand to the Judge, the Judge who showed no emotion as he read the paper before handing it back.
"Has the Jury come to a decision?" Judge asked.
"We have your honour." He said.
He opened the piece of paper as he took a breath before reading out the counts, "Count one, hit and run, we find the defendant, not guilty."
I clenched my jaws as I heard those words. I turned around to look at Jaxon as he just shook his head in disappointment. I rest my arm over the armchair before leaning back to entwine our fingers together.
"Count two, unlawful possession of a weapon; we find the defendant, guilty."
"Count three, in the charging of Noah Daniels for Attempted Murder in the First Degree, we find the defendant, guilty."
Before I could comprehend what was said the judge tapped his gavel, "Noah Daniels I hereby sentence you to Ten Years in prison." With that said the judge literally upped and left the court room.
"Are you kidding me?!" Noah yelled out.
Jaxon climbed over the gate before hugging me, "You did so well, baby." He whispered.
It wasn't a big sentence but he was officially out of my life, even if it was only for ten years. That gave me plenty of time to move on without a trace, maybe this will change Noah and give him some guidance.
Jaxon stood alongside me as we waited for Oliver to give us the go ahead. We waited until two guards came towards Noah holding an arm each before walking towards the side door. Once he was a few meters away, my dad and Oliver began to make their way out, followed by Jaxon and myself.
"You stupid bitch!" Noah yelled out.
I almost didn't turn around if it wasn't for some stranger screaming in fear, when I turned it was almost like slow motion. Noah had a look of death on his face as he charged towards me. It was like I was frozen in fear, I couldn't move my legs. Before I could grip my surroundings I was suddenly launched back, almost falling but my dad was close enough to catch me.
I watched dumb founded as Jaxon quickly took my place and was tackled by Noah, I screamed in fear as Noah was able to get a few punches into Jaxon. I went to step in and seperate them but I was quickly grabbed by Oliver who only pulled me closer to him and Dad as the guards, Isaac and Drew went running towards the front of the court room near the entrance where we were before getting attacked.
Jaxon quickly managed to get out of the death grip Noah had him in before turning them over, this time he was punching Noah, reopening almost closed wounds. Just as his second punch came into play the guards, Isaac and Drew quickly came over to seperate them. It was almost comical to see Isaac and Drew holding Noah back and the guards holding Jaxon back but with everything happening so fast, they grabbed the nearest person.
"I'll fucking kill you! I want charges pressed against him!" Noah screamed out.
"Yeah?! Well I hope they make you my cell mate, bitch!" Jaxon yelled out as he tried to break free from the guards.
I looked at Jaxon as my tears began to fall freely, he calmed down almost immediately when he saw me. He whispered something to the guards who let him go, the guards grabbing a hold of Noah before handcuffing him and taking him to the back room.
Jaxon ran towards me before pulling me into a bear hug, "I'm sorry you had to see that." He whispered.
"You're hurt." I whispered as I saw the blood drip down his forehead.
"Well, you're not and that's all that matters to me." He said as he kissed my temple.
I didn't know it was possible to fall more in love with Jaxon, until now. He was my knight in shining armour that I didn't even know I needed or wanted in my life.
