🐾 Chapter Ten 🐾

Carla put her key into the lock of her apartment. She turned it, unlocking the door and pushing it open. She took a deep breath being hit with the warm air eloped her in a hug. "Good to be back."

She kicked the door closed with her foot and tossed her backpack on the floor. She pulled off her jacket and tossed it somewhere in her living room. She kicked off her shoes towards the door and walked into the kitchen.

She quickly washed her hands, drying them on some paper towels which she crumbled up and tossed into the trash from across the room. "Made it!" She exclaimed as she walked over to the fridge.

She opened the fridge and looked at the TV dinners you could buy at the store for a dollar and the soda cans she had in her fridge. She had quite a few to choose from, and it was a hard decision since they all sounded good.

Although she was a werewolf from birth, she still liked to indulge in human food, especially any pasta dish, especially chicken and pasta. "Hmm," She pulled out one of her dinners and opened it halfway.

She popped it into the microwave and hit a few buttons, letting it do all the work. She pulled out a can of soda and closed the door.

Turning around her face almost collided with the chest of someone. "Goodness!" She exclaimed, jumping back and looking up at her uncle. "Privacy much?"

Titus, with his arms crossed over his chest, his eyes flickering between blood red and brown. "Carla," He greeted, his voice stern as ever. "Care to explain why one of your teachers called us saying you were bullying another student?"

Carla gripped her soda can a little too hard, creating light dents where her fingers were at. "It was Mrs. Fleming wasn't it? That's good for nothing, the nosy busy-body teacher can't keep her nose out of anyone's business! She should stick to the art room. She can play neighbor watch all she wants at home but one day it's gonna get her killed." She growled, her golden eyes flickering.

Titus tapped his foot rapidly on the laminate floor as he listened to her with bated breath. "Carla," He sharply said, causing her to stop talking. "I said: Care to explain why your teacher called us saying you were bullying another student? I expect an answer."

Carla set the soda can down on the counter and turned her back to her uncle, focusing on the microwave. "I don't know why the teacher would call you. You're not my guardian or anything. I bet she just wants to be a do-gooder and get on your good side -'

Titus cut her off once again on her little ranting spree. "Carla," His tone held venom as he sharply said her name. "I said: Care to explain why your teacher called us saying you were bullying another student? I expect an answer."

Carla wasn't going to get him sidetracked. "Ugh, fine! If you must know, that crazy girl, Kina Grove, returned to school. The last time she came she was covered in blood and I was simply messing with her because it's fun to watch her go all mousy." She replied passively with a scoff.

Titus pinched the bridge of his nose and groaned. "Kina Grove? Her father is a detective, isn't he? Do you really think it's smart that you give her a hard time considering who her father is? Do you realize how much harder things will be for us if you push things too far?"

Carla opened the microwave once it beeped and pulled out a fork from the drawer, checking to see if it was done. "It was nothing more than taunting. Good grief, I wouldn't lay a hand on her! For anything, I'd be fighting her cousin, Rosiano. That girl always starts it." She replied putting the dinner back into the microwave and starting it again.

"We've talked about this,"bTitus crossed his arms over his chest and leaned against the fridge. "The last time you fought with Miss DeLuca you ended up in detention for a week. Not to mention I had to talk the principal out of expelling you."

Carla remembered that day all too well. The EMTs had to be called to check on both Rosiano and herself to see if there was anything seriously wrong. "I didn't lay a hand on her, I only used my words."

Titus sighed lightly, pressing his fingers into the bridge of his nose. "You have to control your emotions and only unleash them when the time is right." He calmly told her, trying to do his best to keep his calm like his wife had constantly nagged him about.

Carla sighed softly, tapping her foot on the floor. "I forgot okay." She defensively said, putting her hands up in front of her just as defensively. "It's easy to forget when timing and all that isn't my thing. Waiting isn't my thing either. I hate waiting, you know that."

Titus frowned deeply, looking at her with an unimpressed expression. "How can you forget everything we've talked about since the last incident!" He exclaimed, his eyes glowing red for a brief moment.

"I'm trying okay! Not everyone is like you! People are making me so mad and I can't help but lash out or else I might go full feral on them in werewolf form!" Carla exclaimed, her voice raising a few octaves as she put her hands up in defense.

Titus had heard the same words over and over from her. "There are other ways to take out your anger than lashing out. You need to control yourself before you do something you'll regret one day."

Carla rolled her eyes, grabbing her soda can and popping it open. "I'm working on it. It isn't easy, Uncle. I've got to go at my own pace. At least, I'm not murdering people for the fun of it, huh," She haughtily puffed out her chest.

Titus took a deep breath, keeping his blood from boiling from her comment. "I only did that to be an alpha, not because I wanted to. I enjoyed it, yes, that was just an added bonus." He replied, keeping his voice calm. "Don't bring up my past to justify your actions."

Carla knew he was wishy-washy but never to this extent. "I don't know how else to get through to you. You make it seem like all that is easy when it's not! It sometimes comes harder for people."

Titus frowned. "That isn't a valid excuse. You know fully well since you were a child what it takes, but it seems you care more about being a delinquent and having people fear you than doing what I taught you." He sighed, exasperated at her choice of words.

Carla figured he was just saying that to hurt her, which didn't hurt her since she knew it to be true. "A delinquent? Really? That's what you're going with? Fine. So what? It's not like I asked to be born a werewolf." She snapped, digging her nails into her palms.

Titus knew she was going through that teenage rebellion age, but it was dangerous for a werewolf to go down that path. "I'm only saying it because I don't want you to end up dead."

Carla scoffed, running a hand through her hair and then licking her lips. "Wow," She marveled mockingly then turned condescending. "You do care about me." She clapped her hands then crossed them frowning.

Titus rested his hand on the counter and leaned his weight onto it. "I'm serious, Carla. The hunters may have been quiet for some time but now that Taia Reagan has appeared they're going to come crawling back here and keeping an extra close eye on me since everyone in the supernatural world knew it was me who did it ten years ago." He explained, keeping his eyes focused on her.

Carla rubbed her arm as she looked down at the floor, bouncing on the balls of her feet. "Why couldn't you just rip out her spine like you said you did her elder brother's? Then you wouldn't have to be dealing with this whole mess." She inquired a tad bit timidly.

Titus sucked in a deep breath. He was not going to let her question affect him. "I don't have to justify what I choose to do to become an Alpha. All I know is it happened and now I have to deal with it somehow."

Carla shrugged her shoulders, taking a few steps towards the counter. "And let me guess: you'll just ignore it and hope it goes away?" She asked, placing both hands on the countertop and leaning her weight on them.

Titus let a small groan escape his lips as soon as those words left her mouth. "I am in no mood for jokes." He was already in a bad mood and her whole shenanigans had now made his mood sour even more than he was before.

"Okay, sorry." Carla wasn't in the mood to continue this little banter between them. "I promise I won't get into a fight again unless I have a good reason to." She passively said, opening the microwave and pulling out her food. "I mean in self-defense if it was a life or death situation.

Titus wasn't the least bit relieved to hear Carla's words but at least he could hold her to that. "You better, or else you will not like the punishment I have for you. It will be worse than the last time." He growled in a low tone.

Carla froze feeling phantom pains on her wrists which she subconsciously rubbed at the burning of the silver handcuffs on the night of the full moon. "I will," She quickly said, stabbing her fork into her dinner.

Titus pivoted on his heels and walked out of the kitchen into the living room. "I would expect no less." He didn't give Carla a second look as he opened the door and walked out, closing the door with a slam.

Carla's legs gave out on her, sending her to the floor. She placed her hand on his chest, her heart pounding against her chest and her eyes wide. She took a few deep breaths to try and calm herself down from her uncle's words.

'He's got some nerve! Why can't he just leave me alone? I don't understand why he cares so much. It doesn't bother him or affect him. If it wasn't for that nosy teacher he wouldn't have been found out, depicted being the lacrosse coach.' She grumbled in her head, a frown growing on her lips.

'The chances of Kina's father doing anything are slim, he's super busy being a detective. I doubt he'd get involved with classic school bullying, heck, I doubt she'd even tell him.' She thought to herself as she slowly got to her feet.

She grabbed her dinner and soda as she walked over to the couch. She sat them down on the coffee table in front of her and leaned over, grabbing the remote. S

he clicked on the TV and surfed through the channels to see if there was anything interesting. She didn't find anything so she left it on the news.

She picked up her dinner and stuck her fork in it, bringing it up to her mouth and eating it. 'I wish Mom was still here. Things could have been different if she was still around but no, she's gone and I have to put up with Uncle Titus' wrath.'

She huffed, blowing some of her shaggy bangs from her face. 'It'd be nice if Aunt Primrose defended me but I can understand why she doesn't. Uncle Titus' rather doesn't spare anyone, not even his wife. He's awful. Ugh, why did I get stuck in this family?'

She turned her attention towards the door when she heard a knock. "Go away. I'm not in the mood." She yelled to whoever was on the other side of the door.

For a moment it was quiet and Carla thought she was safe until the knock started again. It was a bit more aggressive than the first one had been.

Carla groaned, setting her dinner down and picking up her soda, taking a big swig of it. "GO AWAY!" She yelled to whoever was on the other side. "Take a freaking hint already!" She grumbled, turning the volume up on the TV.

Not too soon after she had done that the knocking continued but this time it did not stop.

Carla was beyond annoyed by whoever was on the other side of the door. "Fine! I'm coming!" She exclaimed, turning off the TV and marching over to the door.

She swung it open as fast as she could. "I said go away!" She yelled then recoiled when she realized who it was. "Rosiano?" She asked, leaning out and looking both ways down the hall. "What are you doing here? How did you find me?"

Rosiano, with her arms crossed over her chest. "The internet, duh. You're emancipated so you're legally an adult so therefore your information is public knowledge." She replied, her tone a little snarky.

Carla frowned deeply, narrowing her eyes as she leaned on the doorway making it so Rosiano couldn't peer in. "You didn't answer my question." She snapped, and then her tone turned condescending. "What are you doing here?"

Rosiano sighed, running a hand through her hair before crossing her arms. "I want you to apologize to Kina for what you said to her." She bluntly replied right after Carla had barely finished what she said.

Carla scoffed, shaking her head with a frown. "No way. You wasted your time coming here. I'm not apologizing to that little freak." She said, stepping back and going to close the door.

Rosiano put her foot in the door to prevent her from closing it as her hand slammed on the door. "Oh, I'm not leaving until you say you're going to apologize." She sternly said, giving Carla a challenging look.

Carla, once again scoffed at how presumptuous Rosiano was being. "Then you're going to wait all night. I hope you brought a sleeping bag, you're going to need it." She flashed a sarcastic smile. "Now get lost."

Rosiano did not remove her foot from the doorway. "Heh," She dryly snorted and shook her head. "No. I'm not. I want you to apologize to Kina, sincerely mean it while I record it to have proof that you will do it in person tomorrow at school."

Carla smirked as she listed off what Rosinao wanted her to do. "She's coming to school tomorrow? Wow, I thought she'd decide to stay home and keep her emo vibes away from everyone." She cockily said, crossing her arms over her chest. "I'm still not apologizing."

Rosiano smirked as she put her hands on her hips. "Oh, you will or I will email your uncle a video of you going to a rave last week when I know for a fact the whole apartment complex has a curfew." She slowly explained nonchalantly with a hint of confidence in her voice.

"Me? A rave? Do I look like a party girl to you?" Carla asked, scoffing at the mere thought that Rosiano thought she'd be the least bit intimidated. "You're bluffing. You have no proof I was there and I wasn't there. It's not my style."

Rosiano cackled, shaking her head. "Oh, on the contrary, my dear," She declared in a faux-posh voice as a smirk graced her lips. "You see, my neighbor works there and sent me the feed. I also have people lined up to vow that you were there underage drinking and having a good old time dancing on top tables and I know for sure the money was raining."

Carla's face paled as she realized that Rosiano was not bluffing. There was no way she could pull those things out of thin air. "You're serious?" She asked in disbelief as Rosiano nodded. "Oh, fine, I'll apologize."

Rosiano smugly smiled, crossing her arms over her chest as she felt triumphant. "Don't come near her again or think about bullying her or I will send the video feed to your uncle via email." She said with simple directness as she took a step forward.

Carla's eyes darted about Rosiano's face, searching to see if she was being serious. "You're threatening me? Wow, that's stooping low, even for you." She commented offhandedly.

Rosiano chuckled slowly, a smirk growing on her face as she took a step back while stuffing her hands in her leather jacket pockets. "Oh, it's not a threat. It's a promise. One I hope you will keep until the day you die or one of us moves away. Take your pick."

Carla hated Rosiano and her smug attitude. It made her want to wrap her hands around her throat and squeeze as hard as she could until she crushed everything in her neck and blood came from her mouth.

She took a deep breath, trying to calm down those intrusive thoughts. She forced a polite smile knowing she was powerless against her. "I promise."

"Oh great, I'm happy to hear that." Rosiano clapped her hands together. "Now, I will let you finish your frozen dinner." She pivoted on her heels and walked away.

Carla's death glare followed Rosiano until she was out of sight. She then slammed the door closed with a groan. "I hate that girl!" She exclaimed, marching back over to the couch and sitting down. "One day she's going to regret messing with me."

A/N:
Sorry. I had a bit of writer's block for this chapter. I wasn't sure where to go and I didn't want it to drag out. But then I realized I needed more of Rosiano being super protective of her cousin.

Chapter Talk:
I love writing about Carla and Rosiano's interactions. They're always at odds with each other and it's fun to see how Rosiano isn't afraid to play dirty. She's one of my favorite characters since she's not afraid to stand up to Carla.

Thanks for reading!
