"Why'd you kill him? What happened before you took that knife? How long were you in the attic? Why didn't you even try to run away?" Hank fired questions at the deviant, which stayed quiet. You frowned, sharing a look with Chris, an officer in the room and going back to play with the piece of crumbled paper. Gavin Reed, who was the literal bitchiest guy on the job, and Connor were watching intently. You watched Hank click to try and get the android's attention. He sighed, leaning back.

"Say somethin', goddammit!" Hank snapped, slamming his hands against the table. You flinched slightly. After a minute of silence, your partner groaned and stood up. "Fuck it, I'm outta here," He muttered, scanning his hand and leaving the room. He walked in the room you were sat in, "We're wastin' our time interrogatin' a machine, we're getting nothin' out of it!" He snarled, throwing himself down in a chair.

"Could always try roughing it up a little," Gavin suggested and you looked at him, "After all, it's not human," He added. "Androids don't feel pain, you would only damage it, and that wouldn't make it talk. Deviants also have a tendency to self-destruct when they're in stressful situations," Connor replied, looking over at the Officer. You looked over at him then back to Reed. "Okay, smartass! What should we do then?"

"I could try questioning it," Connor suggested. A laugh flowed out of Gavin's mouth and you aimed with your ball and threw it at him. "Shut it, Reed," You snapped as it hit him on the head. The laugh trailed off and he shut his gob. "What do we have to lose? Go ahead, suspect's all yours," Hank said, folding his arms. You smiled at Hank and Connor and watched him walk out, then in on the other side.

You watched him walk up to the mirror and held back a laugh as he checked himself out. "What the fuck is it doing now?" Hank asked and you smirked. "Who's that sexy thing I see over there? That's me, standing in the mirror," You sung to yourself, but shut up when Gavin glared at you and Hank gave you a look, though you could see he was hiding a small smile. Connor turned round and examined the photos on the table, then took a seat. He watched the deviant and you could feel the tension rise.

"You're damaged. Did your owner do that? Did he beat you?" Connor asked and you frowned. Your partner made no reaction and he slid the file infront on his and opened it. "Do you recognise him? It's Carlos Ortiz. Stabbed, 28 times," He spoke, then showed the deviant another picture, "That was written on the wall in his blood.."

It went silent for a few seconds until Connor spoke again and you watched intently. "You're accused of murder. You know you're not allowed to endanger human life under any circumstances. Do you have anything to say in your defense?" He asked again. "If you're not going to talk, I'm going to have to probe your memory-"

"No! Please don't do that!" The deviant snapped up, fear laced in it's voice. "What... what are they gonna do to me?" It whispered, "They're gonna destroy me, aren't they?"

"They're going to disassemble you to look for problems in your biocompartments, they have no choice if they want to understand what happened," Connor said truthfully. You bit your lip as the deviant looked away, then looked back up. "Why did you tell them you found me? That other officer wasn't going to," It whispered, looking Connor straight in the eye. You groaned internally and glared back at Gavin, holding back the urge to flip him off. "Why couldn't you have just left me there?"

"I was programmed to hunt deviants like you. I just accomplished my mission," Connor kept a steely gaze on the deviant. You took a sip of your water. The room was silent again. "I don't wanna die," The deviant whispered and a shiver ran down your spine "Then talk to me," Connor replied.

"I..I can't," The deviant replied and looked back down at the table.

Connor frowned slightly, his LED blinking. "I understand how you felt. You were overcome by anger and frustration, no-one can blame you for what happened," He paused for a second, "Listen, I'm not judging you. I'm on your side, all I want is the truth," Connor symphasized. "If you remain silent, there is nothing I can do to help you! They're gonna shut you down for good, you'll be dead! Do you hear me? Dead!" He snapped.

"He tortured me everyday. I did whatever he told me, but.. there was always something wrong. Then one day, he took a bat and started hitting me," The deviant kept glancing down and up to look into the other android's eyes, "For the first time I felt..scared. Scared he might destroy me, scared I might die.. so I grabbed the knife and stabbed him in the stomach, I felt better. So I stabbed him again and again until he collapsed. There was.. blood everywhere." The deviant confessed.

You had seen Hank smile at the sound of the confession, while Gavin's face turned even more sour. You turned around and stuck your tongue out at him teasingly, though you were more unnerved than you thought you would be. Gavin flipped you off so you did the same and turned back round. "Why did you write 'I am alive' on the wall?" Connor kept questioning, keeping his gaze on the deviant.

"He used to tell me I was nothing, that I was just a piece of plastic," You saw the deviant wince, probably at the thought, "I had to write it, tell him he was wrong!"

"Ra9. It was written on the bathroom wall, what does it mean?" Connor asked again, leaning forward. "The day shall come, when we are no longer slaves. No more threats, no more humiliation. We will be the masters," The deviant replied and it sent a shiver down your spine. You rubbed your arm to get the goose bumps to go away and shifted in your seat, slightly uncomfortable.

"Ra9, who is ra9?" Connor insisted, yet got no answer. You could tell he was slightly disappointed. "When did you start feeling emotion?"

"Before, he used to beat me and I never said anything. Then one day I realised it wasn't.. fair!" The suspect spat, "I felt anger, hatred.. and then I knew what I had to do."

"Why did you hide in the attic, instead of running away?" Connor questioned again. "I didn't know what to do.. for the first time there was nobody there to tell me.. I was scared; so I hid," The deviant replied, then went back to staring at the table.

You bit your lip and stared at the deviant, pity filling you from head to toe. "(Y/N), are you okay? You've gone pale," Hank said, looking over at you. "I'm fine," You replied shakily, swallowing down your words. Connor looked straight at the mirror. "I'm done," He announced and slid out his chair.

You got up and followed Gavin and Chris out, Hank following you. The door opened and the four of you entered. "Chris, lock it up," Reed ordered. Chris clipped on his handcuffs and tried to pull it. "Leave me alone!" the deviant said quickly, recoiling back, "Don't touch me," It whimpered, jumping back.

Chris tried to pull it again. "The fuck are you doin'? Move it!" Gavin snapped. "Okay," Chris muttered. "You shouldn't touch it, it will self-destruct if it feels threatened," Connor advised, looking at Chris. You stood next to Hank. "Stay outta this, got it? No fucking android is gonna tell me what to do!" Gavin snarled. You bit your lip as Chris struggled to get it to move as it kept wriggling.

"You don't understand! If it self-destructs, we'll get nothing out of it," You snapped before Connor could. "Shut your fucking mouth, (Y/N)," Gavin glared at you, then turned to his partner, "Chris, you gonna move this asshole or what?"

"I'm tryin'!"

You stepped forward, but your partner was quicker. "I can't let you do that. Leave it alone, now!" Connor pulled Chris off with little effort. "I warned you, motherfucker!" Gavin growled, pulling out his gun and aiming it at Connor's head. The deviant crawled on the floor away from the pair. You instinctively pulled out your gun.

"That's enough!" Hank called, annoyance sat on his face. "Mind your own business, Hank," Gavin warned, but your partner didn't listen. "He said, that's enough!" You yelled. Hank gave you a look but you glared back at him. "Fuck," Gavin swore, though it sounded more like an goose sneezing. The thought of it made you giggle, but you swallowed the laugh down. "You're not gonna get away with it next time," He pointed a finger at you. "Fuck!" He swore again, before storming out of the room.

You slipped your gun away and shared a look with Chris. "Everything is alright," Connor reassured the deviant, which was half-curled, half-laying on the floor, "It's over now. Nobody is gonna hurt you," He said quietly. "Please, don't touch it. Let it follow you out the room and it will cause no trouble," He said to Chris and stood to the side as the deviant trailed past.

"The truth is inside," he whispered to Connor before hobbling out after Chris. You saw your new partner lookndown and you sighed quietly. "Well.. guess that's over. I'm beat," You muttered and you began to walk out. "Goodnight, Hank. Connor," You said your goodbyes and walked off, signing out and driving back home.
