You groaned as your alarm clock rung, though you had no sleep. The thought and the words of the deviant stuck in your head, echoing all night through your mind. Your head banged and you slammed the off button. Time for work. You lazily got dressed and stumbled to the kitchen, where you brewed yourself a cup of coffee. "It would be easier if I got an android," You muttered to yourself. It would be easier, but you reckoned it would tire you out more. "I'll think about it," You said to yourself again, finishing your coffee and pulling on your coat, sliding your phone in your pocket, leaving your house and driving to work.

After you pulled into your space and signed in, you saw an awkward Connor sat there in the chair by Hank's desk. "Good morning, Connor," You greeted as you sat in your chair, frowning in disgust at the state of the Lieutentant's desk. The android nodded respectfully and stood up, "Good morning, Sergeant," He replied, standing awkwardly. "Relax, Connor. You don't really need to impress me," You said, signing into your computer and reviewing the case files. You heard him sit back down, then stand up.

You took your eyes off your screen and saw Connor exploring Hank's desk. He examined a lot of the stuff and after he was done, he had a look on yours. You were a tidy person, but normally your desk looked like Hank's, when you hadn't cleaned it in a while. "Connor, can you get me a coffee?" You asked innocently, biting your lip. "Sergeant, your caffeine levels are high. Did you have one before you left your house?" The android asked, looking over at you. "Yes? Please go get me one, Connor, for christ's sake," You muttered, turning back to your screen.

"A missing android from the Eden Club.. an Ax400 reported missing after murder..." You read the files to yourself, frowning. A yawn escaped your lips, yet you felt no exhaustion. "Where's Connor?" You asked yourself, getting up and walking over to the breakroom. You frowned as you saw Reed taunting the android.

"Gavin, you shithead, leave him alone," You swore, glaring at him. You nodded respectfully to the officer he was with and looked back to the pair. Connor just stared at Gavin. "I'm sorry, but I only take orders from Lieutenant Anderson. If you have any questions, please contact your supervisor," He said. Gavin pretended to laugh then punched him in the stomach. "Fuck's sake, Gavin I'll-" You snapped, your hand reaching instinctively to your gun but it fell away as he walked up close. "Don't you fuckin' dare, (Y/N). Draw that gun and I'll get you fired," He breathed in your face, then turned around to face Connor. "Don't get in my way, tincan," he snapped, then signalled to the other officer and she followed him out.

"Connor, are you okay?" You asked him, trying to hide your shaky voice by clearing your voice as he stood up and brushed himself off. "Yes, I'm fine. Your heart rate is elevated and your breathing is uneven. Maybe you should go sit dow-"

"Make me my coffee, Connor," You cut him off quietly. He turned around and made one, handing it to you, which you took with shaky hands. You looked down into the brown liquid and sighed, then felt a pair of hands on yours. You looked up into Connor's chocolate brown eyes. "I heard this helps calm people down, I thought you needed it," He said and you felt your face go hot. "Sergeant, are you sure you are okay? Your face is hot but you have no symptoms of a fever-"

"Yes, I'm fine. We should see if Hank has arrived yet," You said then walked off, sliding back back in your seat. You nursed your coffee and drunk it and looked up as you heard footsteps. You heard a groan from Hank as he saw Connor. As soon as you were about to greet him, Fowler interrupted. "(Y/N)! Hank! In my office!" He shouted. You stood up, sharing a quick look with your partner then followed him in, Connor shutting the door after you.

"I've got 10 new cases involving androids on my desk every day, we've always had isolated incidents; old ladies losing their android maids and that kinda crap. But now, we're getting reports of assaults and even homocides, like that guy last night! This isn't just Cyberlife's problem anymore, its now a criminal investigation and we've gotta deal with it before the shit hits the fan. I want you two to investigate these cases and see if there's any link," Fowler explained, looking at you and Hank.

"Why us? Why do we gotta be the ones to deal with this shit? We are the least qualified cops in the country to handle this case!" Hank said before you could say anything. You glared at him, biting your lip. "I know jack-shit about androids, Jeffery!" He complained, pointing to Connor, "I can barely even change the settings on my own phone!"

"Everybody's overloaded. I think you're perfectly capable for this type of investigation," Fowler explained again, but was cut off by yourself. "Bullshit! The truth is, nobody wants to investigate these androids and you left us holding the bag!" You snapped, taking Hank's side. You watched him stand up and walk to the back of the room, whilst you moved behind your chair. "Cyberlife sent over this android to help with the investigation, it's a state-of-the-art prototype. It will act as your partner," The captain said calmly, though you could hear anger in his voice.

"No fuckin' way! I don't need another partner, especially not this plastic prick!" Hank butted in, his voice rumbling. "Hank! You are seriously startin' to piss me off! You are a police lieutenant, you are supposed to do as I say and shut your mouth!"

"You know what my goddamn mouth has to say to you?"

"Okay, okay, I'll pretend I didn't hear that so I don't have to add any more pages to your disciplinary folder, because it already looks like a fuckin' novel! This conversation is over!" The captain snarled to Hank, turning to his computer. You sighed, not wanting to listen anymore, so you walked out and went straight back to your desk and put your head on the surface like a child.

You heard a door slam and someone slump themselves in the desk across from you. You knew it was Hank without question, then another pair of footsteps soon after. "In any case, I'd like you to know I'm very happy to be working with you both. I'm sure we'll make a great team," Connor said positively and you looked up to him. You frowned a bit as he was looking at Hank. "Is there a desk anywhere I could use?" He asked. "You can share mine, Connor. Grab a chair and pull it up," You said, keeping your head up off the table.

After he did so and sat in his chair, he looked over at Hank. "Do you listen to the Knights Of The Black Death? I really like that music, it's full of.. energy,"Conner commented and you grinned at what he was trying to do. You saw Hank shoot him a weird look, "You listen to Heavy Metal?" Hank asked. "Well, I don't listen to music as such.. but I'd like to," Connor replied and you nearly laughed at how awkward this small talk was.

"You have a dog, right?" Connor asked again. "How do you know that?" Hank replied, looking at the android suspiciously. "The dog hairs on your chair. I like dogs. What's your dog's name?"

"What's it to ya?" Hank said rudely. Connor looked over at you, as if he was disappointed. The Lieutenant sighed, "Sumo. I call him Sumo," You grinned as Connor perked up.

"You're a Detroit Gears fan, right? Denton Carter scored 53% of his shots from the three-point line yesterday.. did you see the game?" Connor asked again. You bit your lip for Hank's answer. "That's what I was watchin' at the bar last night," He grumbled and you snickered. "Oh," Connor's voice trailed off and you smirked at him. He just looked at you confused. You held your lukewarm coffee cup in your hands, then pushing it to the side and letting it go cold. It was only half-drunk, yet you couldn't fathom the thought of cold coffee.

"Alright, Connor. Have a look at the files," You ordered, and looked over to Hank who was doing something. The android nodded, signing in and reading them. "243 files.." Connor announced and you stared at him. "My god," You muttered, then looked down at the brown liquid.

"Er, Hank, I got some new information on the AX400 homocide case," Chris informed you and Hank, then walked back off to his desk. You sighed and got up, pushing your chair under. You took your coffee to the breakroom, where you tipped it down the sink and cleaned your desk, still grimacing to yourself at Hank's desk.

Yourself, Hank and Connor made your way to downtown, driving fast.
