It all happened in a short span of time. One day he was on a school field trip, observing spiders inside the lab. They were spectating and out of all the students in there it was him who won the lottery of being the only one out to be bitten by a radioactive super spider.


Soon after that field trip he realized that his body had changed. He became faster, gained more agility and reflex, possessed inhuman strength and he could stick to walls with his bare hands and feet. 

Seoul then became a weird place. It became a dangerous city with villains that are too smart for their own good, not to mention most of them have god complexes. Sometimes there would be weirder things like mutants destroying parts of the city. Someone needed to step up for the police and because of this, Spiderman man was created. Sure it was scary at first, he didn't want to take the job but somebody had to stop these creeps and the cops were doing a very poor job at it. That's where he stepped in and now he has got used to it.

Now he's a superhero with the alias Spiderman. Whilst he's busy fighting criminals, helping civilians like how it is in the movies, he's still a student. He's still young and would like to enjoy his youth rather than have a full time job as a superhero.

That's why he prepared a self-made suit and mana to cover his identity. He doesn't want some criminal jumping to him in the middle of the street just to get revenge on him.

No one knows who Spiderman is, no one knows Jeon Jungkook is Spiderman. Not to mention he was fast enough to outtake cameras. Every outlet in the news would always speak about him. Who is Spiderman? Most pictures taken for him would end up being blurred. Well, that's good for his case because he would still like to remain anonymous.

Even now when he's chilling in class with his classmates, it's just because of his mask identity that he knows no one will jump on him and he can still have a normal life. He can still dress in something other than the tight red and blue body suit. He can dress in a baggy all black that he loves. He can not wear a mask around his handsome face!

"Jeon Jungkook, are you still paying attention?"

"U-Uh yes miss." He must have dozed off. He stayed up a bit late last night because he had to stop some bank heist (in which he succeeded, as always.)

"Then try to answer the presented question." He has to thank the heavens that she wrote it on the board because he wasn't paying attention at all.

"It is that adding salt to snow or ice increases the number of molecules on the ground surface and makes it harder for the water to freeze. Salt can lower freezing temperatures on sidewalks from 32 degrees to 15 degrees."

"Very well as always. You missed 4 of my classes but I'm impressed you're still able to keep up." Well Jungkook created his spider web on his own so college classes couldn't be that hard.

"I know you skip my class a lot but try to maintain your attendance."

It's not his fault he's guarding Seoul every night and he gets sleepy the next day

"Alright miss."

"Alright class. Pick 4 people to group with for the next group assignment. Remember to do it well since it has a 40% contribution to your grades."

Everyone was in panic. Some even complained because they usually have a 5 or 6 people group and the teacher suddenly cut it short. "It's to interact more with each other." She said but it really wasn't a good excuse.

Even if Jungkook is a superhero, he is still only a college student with many heavy deadlines and classes to catch up along the way. Whoever he partners up with doesn't matter much to him as long as he ends up with a passing grade.

"Wanna partner up with me?"

He hears the voice of an Angel. And he really loves that Angel. Jungkook wastes no second to nod. "Yes of course Tae!"

"Thanks Jungkook! To be honest I don't really get this part so I was hoping you could help me."

"Which one, Tae?" He would like to give a good impression to his friend. Although they're not actually close, whereas it's just for homework, he undeniably has a giant hearty crush on him.

"This."

And god, is he head over heels for Kim Taehyung! There is absolutely nothing he wouldn't do for him, even if it were to bring him strawberry cakes at 4am.

"We're also joining!" Two guys in the class join by grabbing a seat. Though Jungkook doesn't mind and knows it was bound to happen, he did want their alone time to be longer.

Those guys were Hoseok and Jimin. Jimin, he knows well, is very close to Taehyung. They're practically best friends or even soulmates. Hoseok is a close friend of Jungkook who secretly has a crush on Jimin.

"Did you hear the news last night?" Hoseok brings up "Spiderman caught a robber last night at the bank of Seoul."

Of course, they know. If they watched the news they would know. It was trending on Naver too. There was even a video of it on YouTube where they were able to catch a glimpse of the fight scene. The footage wasn't clear. There was only one video that was taken from afar so they could only catch small glimpses of something red moving extremely fast.

"Fuck Spiderman." Taehyung suddenly comments, nose scrunching over the superhero's name.

"U-Uh?" Jungkook hesitates. This was the first time he had heard any bad comments towards himself, especially from someone he knows, from his crush.

"Spiderman this. Spiderman that. I can't stand hearing his name every time I go out. My sister plays some or other news of him all the time and it's getting annoying. I bet he's using a mask just because he's ugly."

"O-oh" Jungkook can't help but to stutter to react. His crush is literally his own hater. Out of them all it was Kim Taehyung that hated him. "Why do you say that?"

"Remember my car? It got destroyed because he threw some bad guys too hard. He never paid for it."

Jungkook pursed his lips together. Right, that was probably the time when he was fighting with electro. It involved a lot of destruction in the city but he never thought Taehyung would be caught up by it too.

"I got fired because it was my first day of the job and other than my car being destroyed, the subway and bus were crowded so I got late!"

If Jungkook had known he would have carried him all the way to work.

"Anyways I hate him. That lousy excuse of a superhero can suck my ass."

"Yeah!" Oh fuck, he was too excited. Taehyung who was grumpy turns to pay attention to him  "He's an asshole. I agree with you!" Jungkook adds more salt to his own wound.

Hoseok, who was chatting with Jimin, averts his attention for the first time. He was definitely confused at his remark because they always talk about Spider-Man's great achievements together.

"You agree with me?" Taehyung tilts his head "We never spoke much about him but I never thought I would see anyone hate him as much as I do."

Taehyung might be one of the rare ones that actually dislike Spiderman.

"Oh yea. Those muscles probably aren't real either. No wonder he uses a bodysuit!" Jungkook just had to find a way to agree "Not to mention he always comes late! Gosh, it's not like he has classes or anything, he always comes when the situation is already bad!"

Jungkook is roasting himself just to have a good impression on his crush... Smart move Jeon, very smart.

"Yea!" Taehyung excitedly bought it "You get me. I mean look at you, pure muscles! You worked hard for these past months to get them and then what, The Spiderman gets them all because of his suit? There's no way those aren't fake muscles. There's no way that physique's humanly possible."

Right, but not everybody gets bitten by some radioactive spider either.

Somewhere along those lines, he did feel like cheating since his muscles grew larger because of that radioactive spider. Yeah, he went to the gym too but it was sort of an instant boost too. He unconsciously holds on to his biceps in a reflexive response and Taehyung sees that and giggles.

His giggle is like the sound made by an angel and Jungkook is a total simp.

"Anyways, enough of Spiderboy. Let's focus on assignments. The due date is tomorrow."

Right. Focusing seems to be the hardest thing to do now.

When they part their ways Jungkook is the quickest to arrive home. He runs to his room and the first thing he does is pull out his cellphone and keep his composure to not scream on top of his lungs.

Kim Taehyung, his long life crush, hates Spider Man which is also equivalent to hating him.

This is a complete disaster.

His iPhone beeps three times, it feels long because of his anxiety but finally it goes through. "Hyung!! Major problem!!!"

He goes to the only person he can trust with this whole Spiderman identity thing. Kim Namjoon, the scientist that owns the laboratory of that field trip where he got bitten by the spider. Hence, the man responsible for his condition.

"Whoa there calm down" The hyung on the other line was probably startled too but tried to talk him out of it "What's wrong? Another crime? Doctor octopus escaped from prison? Venom is back???"

"I-It's worse than that."

"Speak up! What's the situation?"

"M-M-My long life crush hates Spiderman."

"..." There were definitely decisions of hanging up on the other side. "Guess it's time to find a new crush."

"Namjoon hyung this is a major, serious problem!"

"... I'll find you a therapist."

"Shut up, you've never had dick before."

"On contraire I'm the one who gives the dick and I'm married to the most beautiful man I've ever laid eyes on."

Jungkook groans "I don't want to hear your disgusting love stories. I'm here to talk about my love life!! This is Jeon Jungkook's personal doomsday."

"Kid... I'm pretty sure it's not. You'll get over it soon."

"Uhhh no I will not. You don't understand, I've liked him for the longest time now. I don't want him to hate me."

He can hear Namjoon on the other side sighing hard. "Young love." He can feel by his senses that he might be shaking his head too. "If he really is your friend, if he really likes you back, I'm sure he would dismiss it. It'll be fine. I don't recommend you telling anyone your identity but if you're really desperate for the truth then just tell him."

Namjoon said it so easily that Jungkook wants to argue. Though he's right, it's easier said than done. He sighs. "I'll think about it hyung... thanks."

"Next time, only call me when it's really serious please."

"Ok. Ok hyung." Then he hangs up.

He throws his cracked phone to bed and then his body after it. He can't even find the motivation to change his clothes and only when it gets too hot, he throws his shirt and pants on the ground. He didn't sign up for this superhero stuff.

"Worst day of my life."

Namjoon has told him that having superhuman powers would be a blessing. Nobody would mind getting bit by a radioactive spider to gain super strength, agility and wall sticking ability but to Jungkook it felt more like a curse than a blessing.

If he didn't have a strong sense of justice and bravery maybe it would have been easier. He would have been a normal teenarger with a bright future ahead. He had always wanted to be a scientist, he wonders if he can still become a scientist.

 

He has always been a trouble magnet. He would somehow always manage to see the ongoing crime at the corner of his eye and then he couldn't just leave it and play blind. Namjoon has always told him it was just his fate to be bitten by the spider but he didn't want it. If he could he would rather someone else have this heavy role.

But he can't now, can he?

He decides to ditch the homework for now, he can just finish it some other day. Besides, he can finish it in one night.

He needs fresh air.

Putting on his spider suit he lets the suit do its work and hug his chest before he takes off from the window. No cool superhero goes through the door, it's always the window. And the villains go through the attics where they would sneakily steal some valuable items.

Jungkook was strolling down the neighborhood swinging from building to building. He was really out of his mind when he arrived at a place downtown where there are less people around. He just lost track of his swing and ended up too far from home.

Speaking of which, he can feel it from his spidey senses that the neighborhood isn't as friendly as it looks. The air is a bit denser and much drier than usual. No one would pick on that but it was his spider institution added with his science geek brain. He approaches closer to where the source may be and bingo, he finds something.

"It'll be great. This crystal.. It'll work."

It seems like a guy observing a green glowing mineral and hanging it up in the sky "It's the real deal!" He claims. The thing is, he wouldn't even bat an eye to it but that crystal seems dangerous to approach especially when it's slowly changing the environment.

He swears it must be some villain that's up no good again but today he's a bit emotional. He can't decide whether he's beating them up for the good or to relieve his stress but one thing for sure is that he's hunting them down.

"Hey!" Spiderman stands in front of him before things get worse "Mind if I check that? It seems a bit dangerous."

The man halts from his excitement to the mineral and pauses to the sight of Spiderman before nodding. "Sure." What Spiderman didn't expect was being thrown away due to a weird gizmo. Spiderman is strong enough to take the hit but that thing was on another power level.

"And I'm gone!" He was really gone as he said. While Spiderman was busy with his sore muscles and getting up the guy had already disappeared with the help of some sort of machine that seems like a teleportation device. Jungkook couldn't catch him in time and missed by a few seconds.

"Dang it!" The day had just gotten worse.

Fuck. He doesn't know what to do. His entire body hurts from the impact even if he did have the strength of 20 men combined.

Maybe he had broken a rib or two, but it'll heal fast. His broken cell phone rang once again but the one who called him wasn't Namjoon as he expected.

It was a cute and short tone, he checked that the buzzing came from Taehyung's personal message. Taehyung!
