𝟬𝟬𝟭. Orange Like Garfield?
FROZEN HEARTS.
[ 1 ]
"orange like garfield?"
"So tell me, Gaia, when did you realize your life was so fucked up." The brunette woman sitting in a large chair spoke, her pen moving swiftly across the sheet of paper in front of her.
"I'm sorry?" The blonde's head shot up from fiddling with her hands under the table. Her eyes grew wide as each syllable reached her ears. Gaia stared at her, eyebrows drawn together. She couldn't believe what she was hearing.
"Well I mean you had to have realized at some point that all of this pain in your life is not normal. Do you think about it ever?" Her voice spoke like sticking a thumbtack into a poster on the wall. With pinpoint accuracy drawing out each word with a sharpness that could gauge your eyes out.
The two sat at a long table the brunette at the head taunting the blonde with her position. Trying to get her to cower away into the shadows and succumb to the pressure she was purposely inflicting on the blonde.
Gaia's face was stone. She didn't know what to say. This woman was doing more than she needed to and they both knew it. It was supposed to be simple, or so she thought. A quick meeting not a full-blown life analysis of everything that has gone wrong in her life.
The silence was undeniably uncomfortable as the blonde shifted in her seat. She felt small sitting here open to the woman in front of her. Being read by her body language and actions. She was weak.
Gaia's eyes trailed back up to the woman's sitting a distance away from her. She hadn't looked away the whole meeting always keeping her soulless eyes on the blonde. Even as her pen drew across the paper her eyes never left the girl.
"You must think about it. I mean no one goes through something that traumatic and isn't affected. No one comes out of it sane."
Gaia's teeth attacked her bottom lip as she tried to find the strength to answer. She pulled at the dried skin peeling it off with her teeth. Traces of blood touched her tongue and she tasted the familiar metallic substance that she knew all too well.
"It's a simple question, Gaia. Just tell me how did you feel in that moment. What was going through your mind, it's very common for people in this......"
Her leg started bouncing with each word reaching her ears. And then everything went silent. The woman's words faded away into the atmosphere, nothing past the point reaching the blonde's ears. Her eyes trailed down to her sneakers. The creases on the top of them moved in and out as her leg bounced up and down.
Everything felt uncomfortable. The scrubs that she had been in for the past hours felt like sandpaper on her body. The hair on her head felt like it was being pulled out of her scalp one by one in slow motion. Her face felt foreign attached to the rest of the girl's body. Mind running a mile a minute.
She felt a cold metal touch the center of her forehead paralyzing her whole body. Numb in her spot. The familiar sound of an object she wished she never knew existed. Screams and shouts meet her ears.
The coldness of the object felt colder with each longing second it rested on her face. A pop reached the girl's ears and darkness threatened to cloud her vision.
Her eyes opened to meet the barrel of the gun in her face as a tear flew down her cheek splashing on the cold tiled floors of the hospital. Leaving her frozen.
. . .
"Serena how many times did I tell you! You can't wash the blues with the whites. They'll bleed together!" Gaia pulled the clothes out of the dryer putting them into the hamper that rested on her hip. With a chuckle, she made her way into the living room to start folding the clothes.
Serena Wilson. Her red-headed best friend since they met intern year at the Seattle Grace Hospital. They bonded immediately and moved into an apartment to live their lives together. Every day was a new adventure and Gaia loved it.
"I'm sorry G I always forget!" Serena ran down the stairs with her hair a mess pulling her socks on.
Gaia turned her head to the commotion while folding a pair of shorts. She was already dressed for the day having woken up hours prior like she always did. She couldn't help but smile at her friend as she ran around the room looking for her belongings before they left.
"It's fine Rena, just leave the laundry up to me from now on okay." A bright smile was spread across her face. Gaia slipped her shoes on and grabbed her bag waiting for her friend to catch up.
Serena huffed and caught her breath running over to meet her friend at the door. She blew red hair out of her face standing eye-to-eye with the blonde.
"Ha, I'm ready on time mark that on the charts." A grin spread on Serena's freckled face.
Gaia returned her friend's smile and began walking out the door.
"Let's go."
The blonde ushered her friend out the door before she could protest anymore. Serena kept rambling random things as Gaia locked the door behind them laughing at her fiery-headed friend.
. . .
Meredith Grey sat in the hospital bed on her phone when Gaia entered the room. She sat up and smiled at the blonde, attitude instantly perking up at her appearance.
"Hey, you. How are you feeling?" Gaia questioned as she sat down in a chair next to Meredith with a bright smile on her face. She had come to visit hourly and regularly since the girl's surgery to make sure she was okay.
See the two were like sisters. Ellis Grey vowed to protect Gaia after her mother died. So having a kid of her own they immediately became sisters. Throughout the years they had been through hell together. Maybe that's what made them so close. They both understood the pain and what it felt like to be broken.
Whenever one of them was going through something, the other just knew.
Meredith sighed and looked over at Gaia opening her mouth to speak.
"And don't say fine because everyone knows when someone says they're fine they not." The blonde cut Meredith off pointing a finger at her with raised brows.
"Gia. I'm fine." The girl in the bed gave her sister a pointed look.
"You know I can tell if your heart rate picks up when you're connected to this machine it's practically a lie detector!" Gaia's hand gestured to the vitals that were being taken.
"I'm fine really," Meredith answered with an amused smile. But then her face dropped and she whipped her head over to the blonde.
"Actually. I'm not. Have you seen those ugly orange scrubs they're wearing?" The girl's face pulled up in disgust just thinking about it.
Gaia totally forgot the merge was today. Mercy West residents were joining Seattle Grace because their hospital had issues. The girl didn't pay attention as to why. But she was planning on welcoming the new residents with open arms. Because the girl knew if she was in this position she would feel out of place and would love to get the same treatment back.
"Orange like Garfield?" Gaia questioned Meredith. It was the only thing she could think of. An orange cartoon cat.
"Yes like Garfield. Like Arthur, like Kenny, like Bart. Like ugly. Eughh." A new voice called out making its way into the room. Gaia and Meredith turned their heads to see Izzie Stevens followed by Cristina Yang, Alex Karev, Serena Wilson, and Lexie Grey enter the room.
"C'mon guys they can't be that bad," Gaia spoke as the residents all found a place to sit in Meredith's room.
Serena took a seat next to Gaia and pulled her to her chest, red hair falling in the blonde's face.
"Oh G, bless your sweet innocent heart." Serena's face looked up at the sky as she gripped her chest where her heart was. She brought her hand back down and started to braid the blonde's hair.
Gaia looked up through the red shielding her eyes and gave her friend a pointed look.
Meredith spoke up. "They're locusts, comfortable locusts, feeding on our surgeries."
Izzie started to speak her opinion and Gaia looked back at her friend.
"What's a locust?" She whispered to the redhead trying not to disturb the conversation going on in the room.
"Uh just some gross animal." Serena swatted her hand in front of her looking at Gaia.
She brought her attention back to the conversation when a resident started to speak.
"Why bother ordering new ones? We could just give these to our replacements." He spoke bitterly.
Gaia had also forgotten about that. With all the new transfers from Mercy West, the hospital had to make room for them. So they had to "let go" of some of the residents that had been there since intern year, which was just a nice way of saying "You're not good enough for us anymore. You're fired."
The blonde didn't quite agree with that part of the situation. Some of these people had been here from the start and now they were just going to be thrown out on the side of the road alone?
"We're not gonna be replaced by anybody." Alex Karev spoke. Gaia looked up to see him eating a donut which made her crave one too. Moving Serena off her, she got up from her seat and walked over to Alex, Izzie next to him.
In a swift motion, she snatched the donut out of his hand and took a bite out of it. His mouth dropped open hand still bent from holding the dough object. Izzie let out a chuckle as Gaia walked back to her seat smiling tasting the sugary goodness on her tastebuds.
"If I have to become a coroner or work in psych..." Another resident spoke up. Gaia looked his way and he sent her an apologetic look. She mouthed a small "hey" to him with a grin on her face slightly offended by his words.
Wiping the leftover sugar on the sides of her mouth with the back of her hand she then brought her legs up to her chest and rested her heavy head on her knees as she listened to Meredith.
"No one is becoming a coroner. Cristina tell him!" She moved her hand from Cristina to the man in need of support to lighten the situation.
Cristina had been unusually quiet during this conversation. She would always be sarcastically giving her input and Gaia had taken notice of her quietness. Gaia ruled out that she was probably just mad about the situation like the other residents.
"Tell him what? They're here it's over." Cristina spoke matter of factly. And she was right there was nothing they could do about it now.
"Rena, do you think we'll be safe?" Gaia turned her head to the girl sitting beside her.
Serena's face froze for a moment as if she was thinking about her next words. She truly wished they would be safe. Sure the girl wasn't the best surgeon, she wasn't a godsend like the others here. But she just hoped Gaia would be safe even if she wasn't.
"You'll be fine G don't worry you're pretty little head about it." She gave a big smile to her friend.
After Meredith gave all the residents a speech about how they owned the hospital and it was theirs to keep, everyone started to make their way out of the room.
Gaia stood up from the chair she had been sitting in and used her hands to dust off the front of her pants. She gave Meredith one last big smile before turning and leaving into the chaos that would take over the day.
. . .
Gaia was sitting on the floor of the library going over her charts when Alex came over and took a seat next to her. She didn't look at him and continued to stare at the papers she was holding.
Out of the corner of her eye, she could see him staring at the side of her face like he was looking for the right words to say.
"Yes, Alex?" The blonde closed the folder she was reading with a sigh and looked over.
He flashed her a big grin before speaking. "How's my favorite blonde friend doing on this fine day? You're glowing today did you do something different?"
Gaia tilted her head, watching as he attempted and failed at acting casual.
"If you want something all you have to do is ask and I'll probably say yes." Her arms rested on her knees dangling down as she watched his face lighten up.
It may have been bad but Gaia always loved helping others. Even if they asked for something bad she just felt the need to help them.
"I need you to talk to Webber, about Izzie. With the merger no one is safe and you know she's not 100% back and—"
"I'll talk to him." The blonde cut off his rambling to put an end to more stress than she needed today.
Alex got up from the floor with a smile making his way to the door of the library.
"You're the best!" He screamed over his shoulder walking out, the door slamming shut behind him.
Gaia looked away from where he once stood with a sigh and looked back down at her charts. Shaking her head she opened the folder and began reading again. Another thing added to her list to check off later.
Her finger trailed its way down the papers until she saw the name she was looking for. She bit her bottom lip in concentration as she read.
Cassidy Monroe.
A beautiful once bright fourteen-year-old girl who was one of Gaia's psych patients. She was involved in a heartbreaking school shooting and hasn't been the same ever since. Her parents noticed the strange behavior and it wasn't until she tried to overdose that they brought her to the hospital. They thought she had gone mad.
Gaia's heart broke for the girl, she couldn't even imagine how she was feeling going through this so young. The fear the poor little girl must have felt not knowing if she would make it out to see tomorrow. Gaia couldn't even think about it.
She was rereading the file, again, when her pager went off. She was needed up in psych by Dr. Raj Sen.
The blonde got all of her belongings together and sped out of the library. Making sure to say a quick "bye" to one of the residents she saw around frequently.
She made it passed the threshold of the library doors not looking where she was going when she collided with something hard.
The force knocked her into the nearby wall and her head hit it with a bang causing her to fall to the floor. She mentally cursed at herself for having no damn balance, this was embarrassing. The girl slowly brought her hand up to her face and lightly touched it making sure there was no blood.
She heard a loud "Oh my god!" And some sorrys as she slowly peeled her clamped-shut eyes open.
"Orange?" That was the first thing she saw when she opened her eyes. Not the beautiful man with charming green eyes staring into hers with a worried look on his face. Orange.
Her comment seemed to have calmed him down realizing she wasn't badly hurt. He grabbed her arms and single-handedly pulled her up off the floor. Gaia took a moment to stabilize herself on the hard ground.
"I'm so sorry I wasn't watching where I was going and—"
Gaia found the source of the voice and was met with a tan man standing in front of her. His eyes were a beautiful verdant green boring into her soul. He was tall and quite literally a model in her eyes.
Collecting her thoughts she spoke. "No it's my fault I should've been paying attention." Her face formed a slight frown.
They both stared at each other neither knowing what to say next. So Gaia decided to take the initiative.
"Gaia. Gaia Mitchell. And I assume you're a resident of Mercy West?" She stuck her hand out to his.
"Jackson Avery, and yes I am." He returned the action with a smile.
Their hands were still connected in a firm hold, eyes glued to each other when the blonde pager went off again.
She looked down at it, Dr. Raj again, then back up to the man. Her face scrunched up as she thought about what she was going to do.
"I'm so sorry I have to go." She had an apologetic look on her face as she drew her hand away and ran out of the hallway not sparing Jackson a second glance. She face palmed as she ran away from quite literally Prince Charming himself, what a great first impression Gaia.
He stood there in the hallway confused, the blonde's soft touch still lingering on his fingers.
Jackson looked down at his scrubs. With a grin, he made his way out of the hallway. Her pale face was in his mind and her blonde hair glowed under the reflection of the hospital lights. Gaia Mitchell was certainly something having known her for a minute.
"Orange, huh?"
. . .
"So tell me Cassidy do you like cake?" The blonde closed her chart as she walked into the young girl's hospital room as calmly as possible sneakers slightly squeaking on the clean tiles. Looking up she met the cold panicked blue eyes of the young girl and the four eyes of her parents. She was paged because the girl was having a panic attack and nothing could calm her down.
"What?" Cassidy breathed out in a low whisper. Her left hand gripped tightly onto her right arm pulling and twisting the flesh in every direction Her breaths were shallow through her mouth, eyes wide. Gaia noticed her legs trembling and walked over to take a seat in front of the girl's bed.
She looked at Cassidy's vitals and saw her heart rate increasing. Gaia's eyes met the frightened ones of Cassidy. She saw the parents looking at her confused and annoyed from the corner of the room.
Clearing her throat she spoke. "You know, chocolate cake, vanilla, angel food, strawberry my personal favorite although not a lot of people like it which is weird because it's only the best flavor out there." Gaia's face had a bright smile.
She noticed Cassidy hesitate before speaking unsure of what her doctor was trying to do. "Um, I like chocolate," Cassidy replied breathlessly, eyes still on Gaia.
"Yum! Chocolate is delicious. Especially with frosting. Do you like frosting?" Gaia pointed a finger at the young girl with a questioning face.
It was silent for a moment, the only sound in the room being the beeping of Cassidy's heart rate machine and now semi-slowed-down breathing. Gaia pulled her eyebrows up, face in a smile waiting for a reply.
Cassidy's mother spoke, "With all due respect Dr. Mitchell how is talking about cake going to—"
"Um I like chocolate frosting, but sometimes double chocolate can be too much and I need to drink like a gallon of water right after." The young girl let out a small laugh looking down at her hands that rested in her lap.
The rapid beeping of her heart rate slowed down and Gaia noticed the bed was shaking less from her legs. She took note of the girl's breaths being more evened out and her face looked much less pale. A bright smile drew on Gaia's face.
"I knew it, you know I make a mean chocolate cake maybe I can make one for you sometime huh?" Cassidy sat upright in bed fixing her position. The thought of a delicious rich chocolate cake was fresh in her mind. She had a smile on her face.
"Yeah," Cassidy responded with an airy chuckle.
Standing up from her chair, Gaia did a quick exam on the girl. Blood pressure, heart rate, the whole nine. When everything looked alright she took off her gloves and threw them in the trash standing in the center of the room.
"Okay I'm going to talk to your parents and I'll be back later to run some tests is that okay Cass?" Gaia rubbed her cold hands together in front of her with Cassidy's chart under her arm. When the young girl nodded with a faint smile, she returned the action and walked out of the room parents following after her.
"Okay. Her vitals are fine and she seems to be doing well, nothing is wrong physically, as we know."
Cassidy's parents started back at their daughter's doctor nodding their heads. The mother, Joan had tears welled in her eyes mouth agape from the whole situation. While her husband, Lincoln seemed to have been stone with no expression on his face. They waited for Gaia to continue.
Gaia tilted her head, "But in situations like Cassidy's panic attacks, based on the patient could be pretty common. It's her body's way of reacting to the trauma she's been through not knowing where to store it all. The smallest things could trigger it like a sound or a smell. Even a specific word or phrase could trigger the brain into panic mode."
"So what can we do to help her? I want to help my baby she has been through so much." Joan clutched at her chest tears falling down her eyes with a sob. Her husband put a comforting arm around her and she buried her face into his embrace.
Gaia looked at the woman sadly. Her face melted into a frown, arms drooping at her sides. She let out a sigh.
"Mr. and Mrs. Claire I am doing everything I can. Cassidy is such a bright girl and I will not give up until she's smiling ear to ear. Trust me you have my word." Gaia wasn't lying. She hated seeing someone in pain and so hopeless. It was in her nature to help them. She would go through every loophole and cave just to help Cassidy. And her word was stone.
Joan was still buried in her husband's arms not replying to the blonde doctor in front of them. Her husband mouthed a thank you with a curt nod drawing his attention back to his wife. She smiled brightly at him and walked away.
Gaia's eyes felt heavy. The day had already taken a toll on the girl. She went over her checklist in her mind of all the things she needed to do for the day.
1. Talk to dad about Izzie
2. Check up on Meredith
3. Help Cassidy feel hopeful
But not without a nap first.
The girl let out a sigh as she pulled her blonde locks behind her ears and out of her face. She put her cold hands in her coat pockets chart still resting under her arm. Gaia was halfway to the elevator when she heard someone call out her name. She stopped in her fast-paced trot and turned around to meet the face of Dr. Raj Sen.
"Dr. Mitchell. There's some satanist in room 403. You're needed." Dr. Raj flashed her an innocent face but he knew as well as she did what he was doing. He was gone as soon as she saw him already walking away. Gaia didn't mind though, another person to help. She turned her body fully around and started her walk back into the chaos.
Whoever said working in psych was boring?
. . .
Gaia Mitchell had just finished up a crazy day in the psych unit. From a patient saying he was God to trying to figure out what to do to help Cassidy, she was drained. But she still had some unfinished business.
Her feet dragged on the floor with each step as she made her way to her father's office with hands in her white coat pockets and head down. Voices of the hospital called out to her ears. Nurses running around, and people crying. She finally made it to the door of the office and knocked lightly twice.
A 'come in' reached the blonde's ears as she brought her hand out and twisted the door knob. She pushed the door slowly revealing the scene in the room. Her father sat at his desk with a stack of papers in front of his face. He drew on them with a red pen harshly marking words and phrases.
Gaia took notice of his tense demeanor, his shoulders were elevated, posture tight. He seemed stressed about something. And Gaia ultimately knew what it was. She slowly walked over to his desk and took a seat in the empty chair in front of it.
She didn't want to interrupt her father, so the girl just sat. She looked around the room at all of the awards, books, and papers that adorned the walls and shelves of the office. Looking down, she played with the silver wishbone necklace on her neck with her fingers that her mother had given her for only her 5th birthday. Moving the charm back and forth across the chain.
It was the last thing she remembered from the woman. Waking up to a vanilla frosted strawberry birthday cake with rainbow sprinkles, being told to make a wish. How her mother came into her room with the small box wrapped in blue stripped paper with a ribbon on it, containing the jewelry. Her mother clasped the piece onto her neck that never came off to this day.
It was a piece of her old life that the blonde still clung to never wanting to let go. Because if she did, she feared forgetting that life. All of the memories and moments. The lessons, tears, and smiles. She didn't want to let go. It was a bittersweet reminder of who she could've been.
Gaia dropped the necklace out of her grasp and brought her head up to meet the stare of her fathers. His eyebrows were raised in a questioning look knowing what the girl was daydreaming about, the rest of his body still. He still clasped the pen tight in his hand. Gaia smiled at him. Richard's face melted into a bright smile too.
"Hey, how was your day?" The Mitchell girl questioned.
Richard let out a sigh looking down at the papers in front of him. He skimmed through them with his fingers then looked back up at his daughter.
"Uneventful truly." The man replied.
A grin reached Gaia's face hearing his sarcastic reply. She loved moments like these where they could just talk and debrief on their days not having to worry about surgeries or patients. But the talk she needed to have with her father right now was not going to be one of those.
Gaia cleared her throat slightly trying to think of how to approach the situation. She truly wanted Izzie to stay at Seattle Grace the girls were great friends. Maybe she could add some tears? But she didn't want to be too manipulative.
"I need to ask you something." She plucked and scratched at her cuticles something the blonde had a habit of doing.
Richard looked at her with an expression that told her to continue.
"So with the merger, I know the hospital has to...say let go of some people. And I just wanted to talk to you about who would possibly be one of those candidates." Gaia tried to sound as professional as possible.
Richard periodically looked down at his papers marking them with his pen. Their eyes looked from them to the girl sitting in front of him.
"And you know these people are my friends, some of the best, I mean I've been with them from day one. And it's been a long journey." The girl continued ranting. Sometimes she hated that she couldn't just get to the point and rip off the bandaid.
"And some of us have been through a lot these past years." Here you go again Gaia, just ask him for god sake! She thought to herself internally face palming for the hundredth time today.
"I mean Izzie Steven's you know with all that she went through. It's been a rough year for her and she's not 100% back you know?" She gestured with her hands. Richard was now looking at the girl with his hands folded together somehow knowing what she was getting to.
"And I was just wondering—"
"You were just wondering if I could keep your friend Ms. Stevens here at the hospital," Richard spoke up for the first time since the girl started talking. Gaia shook her head in confirmation. A grin appeared on Richard's face as he shook his head looking down.
Gaia sat on the edge of her seat anticipating what he would say. The girl was hoping she executed her job well.
"I'm sorry sweetie, you know I can't do that. I have had to make some tough decisions on my who to let go." As he spoke Gaia felt defeated. She let out a low sigh. But the girl wasn't giving up so soon. Maybe she would bust out the tears now.
"I mean maybe if you had come to me sooner I could have—" Richard was interrupted by a knock coming from outside of the door. Both of their heads turned to the noise.
A woman with short black hair and a grey suit stood at the frame of the door. Gaia furrowed her brows wondering who the woman was. She looked back to her father to see him stand up and walk over to the stranger.
Richard shook her hand with a smile and turned back to his daughter.
"Gaia this is Missy Grant from Human Resources. Missy this is my daughter Gaia a resident here." Gaia stood up to shake the woman's hand. Great. Her plan had failed. Gaia felt disappointed in herself that she couldn't do more for Izzie. But her father had already made up his mind.
She stood measly in front of the two figures not knowing what to say. Richard stood with his hands in his pockets looking at the girl in a manner she knew she should probably leave now. Missy Grant looked down at her with a small smile on her face.
"I should probably get going now. It was nice to meet you." Gaia flashed the woman a smile and she did the same back. As she made her way out of the room she saw Richard lead Missy to the seat she had once occupied.
Turning her head the blonde walked away shutting the door behind her. As she walked the long hallway in shame the girl couldn't help but feel guilty. Guilty that she couldn't do more to help her friend. Maybe she didn't try hard enough? She felt useless.
Especially when she walked past the familiar blonde that flashed her a bright smile not knowing what was going to happen to her in the moments to come. Gaia couldn't smile back. She barely moved her lips into a grin before Izzie was gone. Walking away to Richard Webber's office to receive the worst news a person could with the year she'd had. Blissfully unaware that her day and future would be ruined.
Gaia looked down to the floor as she continued to waltz away feeling as bad as ever.
. . .
Gaia Mitchell sat on a lone barstool in Joe's Bar wallowing in guilt. She felt horrible about Izzies situation and was planning on visiting her later to see what the blonde was going to do. And Gaia was going to offer to help in any way possible. She held an empty beer bottle in her hand peanut shells lining the table in front of her.
Her head stayed down too heavy to hold up from the day's events. Blonde locks shielded her eyes. She drummed her fingers on the table to the music playing overhead on the speakers. One hand holding up her heavy head.
"Joe another one." The blonde spoke waving her empty bottle in the air.
Gaia sat there shoving more peanuts in her mouth. One after the next. The saltiness reached a cut on her lip that she didn't even know she had, stinging it in the process. She winced bringing her cold fingers up to touch her raw bottom lip. Was the universe just out to get her?
Noticing a presence next to her the girl slightly fixed her posture trying not to look like a total mess as someone took a seat on the empty barstool next to hers.
"Am I a horrible person?" A familiar voice called out to the blonde. Gaia slowly lifted her head to see Lexie Grey sitting next to her. She stayed silent waiting for the girl to continue. When Lexie came to Seattle Grace Hospital a time ago Gaia knew the two would be friends. They both matched each other's energy and became like sisters instantly.
"I think I'm a horrible person." The Grey kept speaking thinking about what she had done today to one of the Mercy Westers. She felt bad about maybe going too far trying to show April Kepner she meant business. All she had wanted to do was show she didn't like them and that the new residents wouldn't take anything from them. Maybe she went too far...but you live and you learn right?
"Yeah but so am I so we can be horrible people together." Gaia stuck her hand out to Lexie's palm up. The Grey girl put her hand on top of the blonde and flashed a smile. Gaia gave her hand a reassuring squeeze and took another chug of her beer.
The two sat together thinking about the day's events sipping their beers one by one. A mop of red hair waltzed through the area of the bar and sat next to Lexie. Gaia turned her head to see Serena plop down with a sigh and bring her head down on the bar.
"I think I might have to bleach my eyes from seeing the color orange, will someone help me, Gaia you pour I'll scrub?" She lifted her head turning it ever so slightly to meet the amused eyes of her friend.
"Yeah, good luck with that." Gaia raised her eyebrows responding to Serena, hand fiddling with her necklace that rested on her neck.
All three girls started to laugh at each other. With one glance into their eyes, they couldn't hold it in anymore. The day's stresses turned into gut laughter at Joe's bar.
And there they sat. Serena Wilson, Lexie Grey, and Gaia Mitchell. The three girls as one. Together by the ties of Seattle Grace, forever.
ahhh first chap! This was just an insight to her povs working at the hospital they'll be more interactions with the others!! Word count 6k!
