2 | THOUSAND YEARS LATER

CHAPTER TWO : thousand years later

In the city of New Orleans, Freya Mikaelson has just witnessed a horrific prophecy. Part of her wished she never saw any of it.

"It's true. You have a terrible shadow over you. Rebekah, too. If this prophecy is fulfilled, you will all fall..." The eldest Mikaelson informed he two brother's grimply. She looks up at her brothers, clearly not wanting to share the next piece of information she gleaned from the visions.

After a brief silence, she said, "...One by friend, one by foe, and one... by family." Elijah and Klaus both exchange worried looks and Freya's mind swirled as she thought about the woman she saw. She didn't look anything like the Mikaelson siblings, so who is she?

"There is something else." The witch quipped, deciding to tell her brother's. Maybe they know something. "In my vision, I saw a woman. But she's not the threat, she's being threatened. Just like us. And now I can't help but wonder, who is she? And why is she being threatened?"

Elijah froze, blood running cold at his sister's words. There is only one other Original that no one knows anything about. A woman he hasnt seen in a thousand years, a woman that he still loves. A woman he doesn't want to die. By some miracle, Elijah found his voice, "What does this woman look like?"

Klaus caught his tone and with widened eyes, he looked at his brother. "You can't possibly think-"

"Niklaus, she is the only other Original there is. Who else would be hunted? So, yes, I do think she's the woman Freya saw." With furrowed brows, Freya looked between her two younger brother's. She was about to ask about this woman but someone beat her to it.

"Who are you talking about?" Hayley asked, entering the room with Hope hoisted up on her hip. Elijah knows that the woman has some form of feelings for his, and maybe if he didn't still love his wife, they could have been something more.

"My wife." The words slipped out of his mouth before he could stop them. The looks on Hayley and Freya's faces would have been comical if the moment wasn't so serious.

Then Hayley laughed, "I'm sorry, it sounded like you just said, your wife."

"Hayley, I can assure you, this is no laughing matter. I did say my wife. And if she is in danger, then I need to find a way to contact her." With those words, Elijah walked out of room. He needs to find a way to warn his wife that her life is in danger. Just because she started hating him, doesn't mean he stopping loving her.

Emerita Mikaelson sauntered through the French Quarter of New Orleans. She had recieved news from someone who hasn't tried to contact her in over a thousand years. Niklaus Mikaelson. He informed her of a life threatening prophecy that endangered not only the Mikaelson siblings lives, but her own. So, she packed up and booked the first flight out of Italy and to New Orleans. The compound wasn't hard to find, it was the building with the most power radiating of it. Power that only Originals, such as herself, has. Now, Kol and Finn are dead and she knew Klaus was here - he contacted her after all. That leaves two options. Rebekah and Elijah. Her heart gave a painful tug at the remembrance of the man who is technically still her husband. She hoped to God it was the former of the two.

With a prayer to who ever is listening, she put on her big girl panties and entered the Compound. She listened in. "What is it that you want, Lucien?" The female Original sped up to where she heard the voice coming.

"Well, well, well, you certainly have changed from the last time I saw you." The girl said teasingly. Then her eyes fell on her husband and everything around them disappeared. The two stared at each other, neither knowing what to say. Klaus saw this and felt sympathy for his brother. One mistake, and he's paid for it for the last thousand years.

Intrigued by the stunning woman, Lucien stood up. With a charming smile he extended his and to her, "I'm Lucien Castle and you are simply beautiful. Might I as your name?" Irritation welled up in the female and she shot him a dirty look.

"It's a nasty habit to flirt with every woman you come across. And I'm not interested." She informed him sternly. In a thousand years she hasn't had any interest in a man, everytime she even thought about saying yes to another man's advances, Elijah would spring infront of her mind and it would never last more than a week or two. Now that they are face to face, in the same town, Emerita has a fierce desire to let any and all man know she is not available. But she wasn't about to let him know.

How was she going to survive?

The green-eyed girl moved her gaze back to Elijah, who was already staring at her. He looked even more handsome that the last time, his hair cut short and slicked back neatly and dressed in a suit. A suit. It make her weak in the knees and she hated the way he could still affect her by what he was wearing.

"Emerita." He greeted, his voice soft and vulnerable. She gave a sharp bid, glad that he didn't call her by her nickname, she wouldn't be able to put walls back up fast enough.

"Elijah." She greeted, her voice harder than she meant it to be. The dark haired Original flinched. Lucien was curious. Apparently stupid too.

"So, darling, how about you drop the hard to get act and go out with me." Lucien said flirtingly, walking forward and placing his hands in the beautiful girl's waist. She froze, Elijah felt anger take him over. Before he or Klaus could do anything, the sireling was taken by his neck and held up in the air, his feet dangling.

"Don't touch me!" She snarled, he struggled out of her grip, but she just tightened it. "You won't get loose from an Original." His eyes widened. "Stay away from me." She ordered and he nodded. He dropped to the ground with a loud thud, breathing heavily. He stood straight, his chest heaving, and quickly bid a goodbye to the Mikaelson males be for speeding away quickly. She spun back to the brothers.

"Now," She began with a stern and serious look on her face. "About this prophecy." And so Klaus explained it to her, Elijah was still to shocked to speak. Emerita watched him out of the corner of her eyes, wanting nothing more than to run back into his arms. But he couldn't. He betrayed her and broke her trust. How was she supposed to be with after that?

"And, given the circumstance, Lucien qualifies as both friend and foe, and according to Freya's prophecy-" Klaus said, but was interrupted by his dark haired brother.

"You are to beware both friend and foe. But, let us not forget family, Niklaus." Elijah noted. The Hybrid is clearly hurt by the insinuation, pauses for a moment before shrugging it off. Emerita gave her husband an unimpressed look. He responded with a blank one.

But inside he was breaking, wanting nothing more than to tell her how sorry is. How much he missed her. How much he wants her back. And most importantly, how much he still loves her.

"Lucien's two out of three- I say we put him down. Just like old times." The blonde man suggested with a cheery grin to his brother.

Elijah didn't look impressed as he looked at his brother with a guarded look. "Just like old times? Brother, I wonder who among our family do you suppose has the greatest predilection for betrayal?"

Emerita raised her eyes brows but didn't do anything other than cross her arms over her chest. The Hybrid looked very frustrated. "Brother, please-"

The dark haired brother interrupts him. "Now, before we murder Lucien, there are certain questions that need to be answered. Chiefly, what is he doing here?" Klaus remains silent, but looks at him curiously. He'd never admit out loud, he values Elijah's opion above all others, even if he doesn't always agree with it. "And the wolf venom... Why would he lie to you, his sire?" Elijah picks up one of
the blonde's larger paintbrushes and tosses it in the air before catching it several times. "I'm afraid we might have to resort to something deliciously medieval here, brother."

The Hybrid smirks and has look so optimistic on his face that Emerita wonders what the hell he did. "We? I take it you will lower yourself to associate with your bastard brother?" Klaus stands to his feet, and Emerita sees straight through the smile that her husband gives his brother - it was clearly fake. "Have you finally forgiven me?"

"I will consider it..." Elijah said and the Hybrid looks pleased by this answer and smiles at him, but Elijah is not the least bit amused. Emerita waits - she knows there is more about to come from her husband. "When Hayley forgives you, Gia rises from the dead, Emerita forgives me for turning her and hell freezes over. For now, however, let's just hope your little friendship with Lucien doesn't disrupt our mission." Elijah turns and leaves the room without another word. Klaus, surprised and hurt by this reaction, just gapes in shock at Elijah's words. Emerita was frowning heavily at her husband's words and cold demeanor. She wanted to asked Klaus what he did, but her words came out differently and coated with jealously.

"Who the hell is Gia and Hayley?" Her eyebrows was raised and a storm of anger was swirling in her eyes. Klaus smiled and wondered how long it would take for them to get back together. If there was one couple that could make it, it that Elijah and Emerita.

"Gia was a young vampire Elijah provided with guidence - who I killed. And Hayley is the mother of my child I had cursed for the past six months." Klaus explained quickly, and Emerita stares at him with wide eyes, her mouth hanging open.

"You're an ass." She deadpanned, heart and mind relaxing when she heard neither of these two woman were threats to her. But I am still angry at him, so why do I care if he has someone or not? I left him, not expecting him to wait for me and not wanting him to either.

"They tried to take my child from me." He defended, his eyes flaring with anger. She tilted her head thoughtfully before her eye lit up with excitement as she thought of the baby she only heard second hand stories about from vampires she passed and even killed a few when they made plans to kill Hope as revenge on Klaus for killing their wives, husbands, children or families.

"I don't approve, at all, but I understand." He gave her a smile and she smiled back. "And when do I meet my niece?" The female Original asked, her eyes alight with wonder and excitement. Klaus' face lit up, with that undying love you can only find between a child and its parent, and a wide grin stretched across his lips and Emerita was sure that if it could, it would go right around his head.

"She is currently with her mother, but I get her for the evening." The Hybrid told her and she smiled with a nod. He opened his mouth, hesitating for a second before he spoke. "I missed you." It was true. Elijah wasn't the only one who lost her that night, she broke off contact will all of them.

She gave him a grin, but he noticed it wasn't the light-up-the-whole-world-one, she had a thousand years ago. "Missed you back, Nik."

"What about the suit wearing gentleman?" Klaus asked teasingly, just because he could and wanted to - the fact that he would try and play match maker to get back into Elijah's good books might have had something to do with it, and Emerita glared harshly at him. It didn't escaped the Hybrid's notice how she never denied it.

still not officially starting this story, but so many of you want a chapter that I just thought, what the hell? and wrote it.

for the purpose of my story, Elijah didn't have romantic feelings for Gia. Sure he cared about her as a friend and they had sex but that's it. and nothing happened between Hayley and Elijah.

hope you like.
