Chapter Two

In the country of Arendelle; two young girls were in the woods near the castle playing. It was winter and the two threw snowballs as well as chasing each other around.

"Can't catch me, Elsa!" Squealed the brown haired girl. The silver blonde haired girl giggled.

"Oh, I will catch you, Anna! Then you'll get the tickle monster!" "No!" Anna cried playfully, laughing.

But suddenly she halted in her tracks. She spotted something lying on the ground in the trees. Eyes widening, Anna got closer; revealing the most amazing creature she had never seen before!

It had wings, red skin, horns, a bird's beak, and Elsa's white hair. It was lying down, unconscious. Anna carefully went closer. "Anna!" Called Elsa, wondering what her little sister was up to. Upon joining her, she saw what her sister was seeing, a hand on her mouth at the beaked creature. It was unique, at first looking rather scary but now to her the creature seemed majestic especially the wings and hair.

But she saw Anna getting close and grabbed her arm. Anna was irritated. "What?" "We don't know what that thing is!" Elsa argued. But Anna looked concerned for the creature. "But it looks hurt, we have to help it!" Elsa then agreed. The creature hadn't moved, barely breathing.

The two sisters knelt near Brooklyn, turning his body over with difficulty and revealing his face in full. Elsa softly gasped. The eyes bore into hers, a bright brown color. But was it male? He did look like it.

"Anna, he needs grownup health, get momma and papa," Elsa said urgently, taking his hand gently. Anna now felt unsure of leaving her sister but did as she asked.

Elsa after Anna was gone, decided to try out something to at least get him conscious a little bit. She sprinkled some of her magic snowflakes onto his face, watching the creature carefully. Elsa had been born with ice powers.

The snow sunk into the creature's skin, causing him to stir. He moaned a little, weakly opening them.

"Uh, hello? C-can you speak?" Elsa questioned, watching him in concern.

Brooklyn felt his fuzziness clear; revealing a young girl around 6 years, her eyes filled with concern. He moaned a little.

"Y-yes... j-just dizzy, hurt... w-where... m'I?" He asked disoriented. Elsa was somewhat stunned the gargoyle had the ability to speak at all.

"Arendelle. You're in my parent's kingdom," she replied. Brooklyn felt ready to pass out again. But this little human girl didn't seem frightened talking to him. Brooklyn winced when trying to stay awake.

"W-who... r... yu?" Brook slurred, struggling to open his eyes. Elsa smiled. "Elsa," she said. He blinked slightly, liking her name, which sounded like Elisa's. "Brook-lyn..." he whispered softly before passing out right as footsteps came. Elsa jumped from her mother hugging her.

"Elsa! Get away from that thing! It could've hurt you!" She cried out. Elsa struggled in her mother Iduna's hold, her eyes pleading. King Agnarr gazed at the beast, eyes wide in disbelief.

"Where did he come from, daughters?" They shrugged.

"We just found him," Anna said. "But can he please stay? He's hurt!" Their parents both gazed at each other, and back at the creature who was still unconscious. After a bit Iduna nodded.

"Alright, he can stay, but we're keeping an eye on him," she said. Elsa smiled, and Agnarr ordered some guards with them to get a gurney for the creature. They would have to learn what he is when waking up.

...

They settled Brooklyn in their medic room, checking him over. But he appeared to be fine, just disoriented. The nurse says he will wake soon. The king and queen volunteered to be there when he wakes while their daughters went to bed.

Brooklyn shifted in his sleep, groaning, finally opening his eyes for good. At first he could hardly recognize where he was. It was so strange but he felt blankets. A man's voice spoke.

"Sir... whatever you are, are you ok?" It asked in a regal tone. Brooklyn's vision came more into focus. The last thing he remembered after touching the snowflake was barely waking to see a young human girl before him. This time a man and a woman dressed regally.

Ok... have I hit my head really hard? Why is a king and a queen in front of me? Brooklyn thought with a raised brow.

"Think so, not sure. Last thing I know was touching a strange snowflake crystal and being pulled away from my clan." He said. Ragnarr was somewhat surprised.

"There's more of these creatures like you?" Brooklyn nodded. "Yeah, we're known as gargoyles. We turn to stone at dawn and come alive at night. But so far, only me and 6 others live in my real home in New York."

The king and queen glanced at one another with interest, but looked at the window, seeing the sun. What happened to his stone sleep?

"Um, Brooklyn, it is afternoon now, but why aren't you stone yet?" She asked. Brook blinked a few times; not having noticed this before suddenly seeing the sun shining. His mouth fell open. How? How could this happen? He began breathing hard, a hand on his chest.

"No, no, this isn't right... I-I should be stone... What's wrong with it?" He croaked. Iduna tried to calm him. "Just breathe slowly, Brooklyn. Is it important for you?" Brook nodded, despair on his face. "Yeah, it rejuvenates me as well as my rookery family, healing cuts and most poison, even. But without it... it is difficult for me to heal properly," he protested.

Agnarr did his best to cheer him. "Well, at least you can see the sun, and discover how humans can survive in both day and night," he stated. This made Brooklyn think about his situation, a little interested flicker in his face, then nodding. "I guess I can try it, I can tell my clan whenever I return home what the sun felt like. But, I dunno how to return home from wherever this place is." For he didn't remember what the girl Elsa told him in his previous awakening.

"You're in our kingdom of Arendelle. And since you don't seem to pose as a great threat we welcome you, Brooklyn of... New York," Agnarr greeted, somewhat unsure of how he was going to fit in. But Brooklyn seemed a decent enough person. The beaked male was somewhat stunned that they accepted him so easily but he could still sense some wariness, hoping he and them would soon become friends, as well as the rest of the kingdom but was willing to accept those who didn't want to.

They eventually told him to rest until they could speak to him again. Brooklyn nodded while laying down, hoping he can get along alright in this new kingdom as the only gargoyle. He shivered at the idea of being the only one of his kind in Arendelle.

How come this place never came up in history books? This universe is strange... he thought drowsily as he fell asleep.

...

In the early evening about a couple weeks since his arrival Brooklyn woke up from a maid saying he was well enough to get out of bed, and that the royal family was waiting. Brooklyn swallowed a little but remembered how the king and queen were going to try trusting him, so he slipped out of bed, going into the throne room. He got a bit lost on the way, asking for directions. The guard who he asked already had been told of this new creature's arrival and that he wasn't a threat so he helped Brooklyn out.

Eventually he opened the door, seeing Iduna and Agnarr sitting in their thrones, as well as Anna and the golden white haired girl, Elsa who he saw first. She gave a small curtsy at him, which made him smile. At least she was courteous. Iduna spoke first.

"We will welcome you to stay in the castle for a time until you can find your way home again. A room had been rented for you here." Iduna explained. Brooklyn lowered his head from getting this attention.

"S-sorry if I look shy, your highness. I just never expected this treatment from royals before. Most humans except one or two usually chase me away..." he said sorrowfully, ears lowering. Elsa felt sorry for him.

"That's awful," She said, having Brooklyn grin slightly from her words. He was glad that someone like Elsa was willing to give him the benefit of a doubt and to trust him, even when sometimes new kids he met usually run away.

"I've gotten used to it. But perhaps I can try and protect this country, too," Brooklyn suggested. The King and Queen thought about it for a while, then nodded. "You have our permission, and maybe watch over our children whenever we have royal duties?" Agnarr then asked, too. Brooklyn gulped a bit; he never babysitted children, so this was all new if you didn't count his protecting of Dave and Bobbi. He liked kids and vowed to protect them, never wanting to hurt anyone, nodding to the queen and king.

"I will, your majesties. And money is no object for I never use it much," he said. Besides, Brooklyn knew he wouldn't need to go into town if necessary. Agnarr and Iduna smiled, for they saw that he was also pretty humble. Anna and Elsa both looked excited at having a gargoyle as their babysitter-no-guardian. It was going to be fun!

...

Brooklyn next found himself in his own room in the castle after eating a private dinner for himself; gazing out at the scenery of the kingdom and the water near it after Anna and Elsa had been put to bed. He took a deep breath, praying that he will be able to return home once his duties as guardian had passed.

He closed his eyes, doing his best to remember each of his family's faces. A tear fell.

"I will find my way home soon, guys. I promise, once it is the right time. But right now, other humans here need me," Brooklyn murmured softly, gripping the windowsill, unsure what to expect in this new kingdom that doesn't appear on maps.
