Chapter 31
Brooklyn continued to sleep through some of the morning, he yawned when opening his eyes, spotting Xanatos there upon his awakening who was grinning at him.
"This will be the first for me to say good morning to you, Brooklyn. And how did you fare sleeping as as human?"
The former gargoyle shrugged. "Alright I guess. I'm still looking forward to being a gargoyle again. I wish I didn't have to wait a whole week." He sat up, getting up from the bed, seeing the sunlight from outside his window. It made Brooklyn grin, but inside, he missed seeing it with his mate.
Xanatos gave him some clothes which was one of his own suits for Brooklyn to wear who instantly changed, wanting to go and see his love in her stone form. David gave a nod of approval from how Brooklyn looked. "That suit really makes you look good Brooklyn. But you may haven't o do something about your hair. I could probably have Fox work on it for you."
Brooklyn held up his hair, noting that him with white bushy long hair would make him stand out a little too much, nodding. "Ok. But I wish to see my mate first."
The two of them went out to the parapets; Brooklyn hoping Elsa was sleeping ok in her stone sleep, seeing his whole clan out there now. His eyes grew round since he never saw Goliath or the others like this before. Looking about, he soon saw the girl of his dreams asleep on her perch, face still worried from the first night which was understandable. Brooklyn smiled at his wife, stroking her arm.
He eventually gave her a small kiss on her stone cheek. "I'll soon see you the next night, love." Brook promised Elsa and he went back inside to eat with the Xanatos family, hoping his second experience as a human will be a little more memorable than the first time, wanting to be able to see the world from Elsa's POV.
After breakfast which was mostly of eggs and pancakes, Fox took Brooklyn into the dressing room where she usually tended to her husband's needs, studying his hair. "This definitely needs some work done." Fox complimented, though Brooklyn had a thought in his head. "Please don't cut it. I don't want to imagine myself with short hair as a gargoyle." He couldn't help but cringe at the thought.
Fox chuckled. "I won't, but at least let me make it not so bushy." She pulled out a brush and a tie that she would use like how Xanatos did his hair, beginning to brush it down. Brooklyn winced, for no thanks to all the knots, it was rather painful.
Some time after all that brushing, Brooklyn's hair was pretty much smoothed down, tied up in a pony tail knot which made him almost resemble David but with white hair. He looked at Fox in gratefulness. "Thanks Fox. At least nobody will look at me weird now."
Smiling, Fox nodded. "No problem. But from what I heard Elisa is going to bring you out on a daytime patrol, am I right?"
Brooklyn nodded. "Yeah, which should be pretty cool. But, is it alright if I'm calling myself Brooklyn, or will I have to get myself a fake name?"
Fox thought for a moment, wondering what sort of name that Brooklyn could use until David's voice spoke. "How about; Kelvin Jacobson? It has no ties into your original name, and makes you feel like a businessman or a motor biker."
It made the second grin, then agree with the idea. "Kelvin. yeah, I kinda like it." He said until eventually spotting Elisa arriving.
Elisa waved Brooklyn over who went to her, eager to hear what plans she had for him. "Wow, looking savvy there Brooklyn!" Elisa complimented, Brooklyn unable to stop himself from adjusting his collar, grinning. "You mean, Kelvin Jacobson? That's my human name."
The detective raised her brow, looking to Xanatos but then shrugging. "Pretty suitable for you I suppose. I asked the chief if I could do day patrol today so you can tag along."
Brooklyn's heart thumped at the idea of joining Elisa on one of her missions. "What's our adventure for today?"
"Some robbers broke into the bank, stealing 200 million dollars, possibly donating it to the Quarrymen." Elisa explained. Brooklyn frowned, he couldn't let those insane people get their hands on more money just to use it irresponsibly and possibly buy more weapons."
Hearing that made Brooklyn's blood boil. He couldn't let it happen. "I'm willing to help in any way I can Elisa. Even if my clan isn't there that doesn't mean I stop protecting others like a gargoyle." Brook folded his arms in confidence. Elisa grinned, then pulled out a weapon that wasn't a real gun, mostly for Brooklyn's protection.
"Here, this gun only shoots darts, which should help bring the robbers down for us to handle them. Now let's go and meet Matt. He already knows you so it should be ok for you to call yourself Brooklyn around him." Elisa said, Brooklyn holding the gun in his hands which felt alien to him to hold one while in a human form, wrapping it around himself with the belt Elisa handed over too.
The duo went to the doorway, Brooklyn's stomach having butterflies inside at the thought of facing the humans in this world who didn't know him very well like the ones back in Arendelle. Hands clammy, he went out into the police department from the clock tower, Elisa going to introduce him to the chief first. Elisa knocked on the door to her office.
"Come in."
Licking his lips, Brooklyn slowly and nervously walked in with Elisa, seeing the stern looking chief of police, panting a little. Elisa took his hand, smiling gently, easing his nerves. The chief raised her brow at the sight of the new man before her.
"Chief, this here is Kelvin Jacobson. He wishes to experience what it is like to be an officer before joining, and I would like him to be partnered with me and Matt for the bank robbery." Elisa introduced, Brooklyn shaking the chief's hand nervously.
She wound up smiling but rather firm looking. "If that is what you want Elisa, then he can, as long as Kelvin here doesn't get hurt."
Elisa nods. "He'll be with me the whole time, don't worry." Brooklyn glanced at her in confusion. He can defend himself but he supposed it kind of made sense hence his human form couldn't even stop Puck for so long.
Soon the two left, heading to Elisa's car. Brooklyn smiled again at seeing all the color in the world that he missed since coming home from Arendelle, seeing Matt there as well whose eyes were wide at the sight of Brooklyn. "Whoa... what... what happened? Is that Brook—."
Elisa quickly shook her head harshly, looking around. "Don't say his name out here, nobody else knows he's a gargoyle. We're calling him Kelvin."
Brooklyn waved. "Hey, Matt." He greeted, Matt giving a little grin at him, the three getting into the car together. Matt turned from the front seat in his direction.
"So... did magic do this to you again?" He questioned, Brooklyn flushing before nodding, fiddling with his hands. "Yeah. And Elsa's a gargoyle now turned into stone for the day."
Elisa spoke up. "We need to concentrate on finding the bank robbers now, we'll talk more about this later." She, Matt and Brooklyn both looked outside the windows as they drove past the bank which had a busted open door.
Eventually, with his still sharp eyesight as a gargoyle, Brooklyn thought he saw someone suspicious. He gasped, spotting two men holding big bags, going to a van. "There!" He called.
That made Elisa glare, Matt turning on the siren, their car charging in the van's direction. The robbers looked around in shock, knowing they were caught, tossing the bags into the back of the van, going in for their get away.
"Police! You're under arrest!" Shouted Elisa, Matt pulling out his gun after one of the robbers tried shooting them.
"Not likely!" Roared the lead robber back, shooting right at one of the tires of the car. Brooklyn gasped when the car bounced after getting the tire popped, sending the car crashing into the tree. Brook rubbed his head, making sure Elisa was ok but to his fear, she was unconscious. And so was Matt.
He frowned. "Oh boy, not good." Knowing now that he was the only one left to get those robbers, Brooklyn hesitantly grabbed Elisa's gun, breaking through the window since the door was locked, running as fast as his human legs could stand, glaring, pointing the gun. Brook never fired a gun but now was no better time to learn. Gritting his teeth, Brooklyn pulled the trigger.
It let off a loud bang, the gun bucking in his hand, but somehow luckily hit the tire on the van which skidded and crashed too. The men who weren't knocked out by the crash crawled out, glaring at whoever stopped them.
Brooklyn glared fiercely, pointing the gun more. "F...freeze!" He shouted, feeling lame for doing that since these men were bigger than they were in his gargoyle form. The leader smirked, eyeing his suit, cracking his knuckles. "Well, a new playboy. Let's see if he can handle our revenge."
One man charged, Brooklyn managing to duck out of the way, wincing when the other punched him in the shoulder, sending him flying to the ground and losing the gun. Meanwhile Elisa was slowly waking up, looking out and gasping at the sight of Brooklyn cornered by the robbers, as well as the van having a popped tire too. She felt her pocket, finding no gun there.
Elisa groaned, wondering why Brooklyn would do something so stupid. "Brooklyn..." Running out, she grabbed a spare gun from the back, charging the men.
"Leave him alone! NYPD!" She shouted, sending a flying kick at one man that was about to pummel Brooklyn whose eyes turned up at Elisa, grinning but knew he was in trouble for taking her gun. The men laughed, grabbing the money bags, the leader smirking at her.
"Oh, we'll be back cop lady, no doubt about that! And tell playboy here to not come after us!" He taunted, the two running off, another car arriving to pick them up.
Elisa gave a big sigh, helping Brooklyn to his feet who felt embarrassed, not wanting to have let Elisa down. He could have used his wind powers but then the men would've probably thought he was a warlock.
She gave him a small glare, finding her gun on the ground. "What... were you thinking, using a weapon you've never held in your life?! You could've gotten killed!"
Brooklyn winced. "I'm sorry, y-you were unconscious, and-and they were getting away, so..."
The detective rubbed her head. "Ok. I am grateful you tried to help, but next time, don't take my gun, ok? The rest of the force will get the robbers. But for now, let's repair the tire and head back. It is almost sunset."
The former gargoyle looked up at the sky, seeing it turning a light orange. He smiled. At least seeing Elsa would cheer him up. It was rather quiet on the ride back, Brooklyn keeping to himself until they returned to the clock tower, going through the police department as quickly as they could so Brooklyn wouldn't have to talk to the chief.
Brooklyn was able to breathe a sigh of relief when opening the door to his home, walking inside, and running up to see his clan, right as the sun was about to set completely. He stared at Elsa's form, hoping she will be able to come out of the stone sleep.
First Goliath and the others roared, breaking from the stone skin, stretching their muscles as usual but Elsa took a little longer. Brooklyn greeted his clan then put a hand on hers. "Please wake up..." He breathed to her.
Soon, cracks sounded, Brooklyn stepping back with a smile, Elsa roaring viciously like how Angela would, her eyes glowing red, stretching her limbs. Panting, she felt her skin, glad to have been able to wake up. She spotted her husband still in his human form, who was grinning in greeting.
"Good evening, my love," Brooklyn said, taking Elsa's hand gently, giving it a kiss. In response, Elsa kissed Brooklyn back on his lips which startled him, but he welcomed greatly. He needed it after earlier. Even with her beak mouth it felt wonderful.
After breaking apart, Brooklyn spoke. "How did the stone sleep feel?" He asked.
Elsa swished her tail which felt really unnatural for her to have since she was born human. "Honestly, I feel pretty good. That stone sleep really does wonders."
He felt her wings. "Yeah, sure does. But... we got a lot to talk about what happened to me today before I teach you how to glide tonight." Brooklyn stated, Elsa flushing from him touching her wing.
Elsa wrapped an arm around his shoulders, walking inside with the clan while Hudson, Broadway and Lex all went on their patrols, Brooklyn looking forward to his evening with Elsa despite their situation.
