Chapter 30

It had now been nearly 5 days since Elsa came to modern New York with her husband Brooklyn. Even though the new lifestyles were different, Elsa herself grew a bit more adjusted to how things in the modern world worked like cellphones, tvs and such but what she really loved the most was the books.

Brooklyn went in to find his wife reading in there, a smile on his face as he was excited from when Lex gave them an offer to babysit Alex as a way to experience raising a kid. Brooklyn himself really liked Alex and was going to let Elsa know.

Elsa read a Shakespearean book until she heard Brooklyn coming over, looking up. "Hello dear, what is it?" She asked, smiling.

The beaked gargoyle swished his tail. "We kind of have a babysitting job from Lex to give us something to do and a little bit of family experience."

The Ice Queen seemed interested and quite thrilled, for she desired to spend more time with the little boy more too whenever Lexington got too busy with patrols.

Eventually the two of them ventured into the nursery where Fox was waiting for them, holding her child. She looked up smiling at them both. "I see you are here to look after my little boy." Fox greeted, Elsa nodding.

"Yes Fox. I'm sure he'll probably entertain us more than him."

Fox chuckled since Elsa was told about his magic. "I'm sure he will but just be cautious in case he does his accidental magic."

Brooklyn folded his wings. "We will, don't worry." He replied as Fox handed Alex to Elsa. Alex cooed at her. "Esa!" He squeaked, taking her hand.

After Fox left Elsa was now sitting down with the baby boy, playing with him while Brooklyn kept watch mostly from either out of the living room or the window, not wanting anybody to take the little boy away from them. Just seeing Elsa act like a mother made Brooklyn feel small pangs now, wishing they could physically have a son.

But Goliath had told him earlier that without a geneticist it was pretty much impossible for a human to give birth from a gargoyle.

Brooklyn near 11:00 was playing toy cars with Alex until the little guy looked like he was ready to sneeze. Brooklyn picked him up. "Elsa, you have a tissue? I think he's ready to let loose." He said.

Elsa came over with one she got from near the crib but as soon as she placed it over his nose, Alex let out a huge sneeze. And what happened next was something either of them wouldn't expect.

A blast of magic from his nose swirled around the couple, Brooklyn shielding his eyes and screeching when feeling his form begin to change, as was Elsa. She screamed aloud until it turned into a gargoyle like screech.

After a few minutes of the magic covering them all it revealed the two with the side effects of Alex's accidental magic.

Alex looked back and forth between Brooklyn and Elsa and wound up giggling, clapping his hands. Brook opened his eyes, body feeling weird but familiar, seeing Alex there on the floor and... his human feet.

"E-Elsa? Are you ok? I-I don't think I am!" Brook gasped, feeling his face and body which was more human than he thought, looking to a mirror in the room. In there he saw... his old human form from all those years ago!

His eyes rounded in fright, giving out a loud scream again, backing away until he hit Elsa who felt wings flapping on her back. "Not sure if ok is the right word for me honey!" Looking behind, Brooklyn stared in disbelief. Elsa was no longer a human anymore; she was a gargoyle!

"Whoa..." Brook breathed in amazement/fear. Elsa's gargoyle form was rather beautiful. She had a beak like he once had, her skin blue and shape designed like a cockatrice, and a nice slim body with wings like his. Elsa herself was confused and as scared as him.

"What happened to us? You're a human!" Elsa gasped, pointing to Brooklyn who quickly shielded himself with his arms, wishing he had his wings back. He looked over to Alex. "Uh, ok Alex. Good joke. Now will you be able to change us back?"

All Alex did was squeak in playfulness, still playing with his cars. Brooklyn groaned, running his hands through his hair which was still white and puffy, knowing he needed Puck's help. "PUCK!" He roared, feeling naked without his wings and tail.

A flash of light and the fay man showed up with a sly smile. "Now there, no need to shout. But... oh my. You're human again." Puck announced the obvious, making Brooklyn glare, his eyes not glowing like how they normally would would. "Yeah, I can see that. And she's a gargoyle. What the heck is this spell the kid did? He just sneezed and this happened!" Brooklyn gestured to his form in exaggeration.

Puck thought for a moment, looking at the little tyke before soon answering. "Ah, the form swap, allowing one to be a human and the other to be a gargoyle for a week. How lovely is that hmm?"

Brooklyn's human face fell. A human for a whole week? With no stone sleep? He didn't like that at all. Elsa was scared too at the idea of going into stone sleep and never getting to see the sun. She took his hand and Brooklyn held it comfortingly. "What will the clan say? I can't be like this for that long!" Brooklyn argued, legs feeling somewhat wobbly. Even though he had been in this form before, Brooklyn never enjoyed walking without a tail to balance himself. How did humans even do it?

The trickster shrugged, picking up Alex. "I can at least attempt to find some kind of counter spell but until then, why not take advantage of this while you can? Brooklyn, you'll be able to blend in among the humans and Elsa here can contribute even more to the clan. She'll be able to fly while shooting her ice powers."

Elsa stared down at her taloned hands. Could she still even do her ice magic? Taking a breath, she waved her hand in the air making harmless snow fall. Thankfully it didn't steal her powers away.

Brooklyn himself too tried his luck with the wind powers he got from Gale, blowing some books on the floor over, and also sighed in relief. As long as he had his wind power he could at least defend himself.

"You'd better tell the others soon my friends. Because if you have no help this will be harder. And Brooklyn, you probably should get a shirt." Puck advised, seeing Brooklyn's abed human chest. Brooklyn turned red, holding himself near Elsa. The swapped couple soon left, Alex whimpering after them, Puck picking him up. "Not to fear, little one. They don't hate you. You just need to not sneeze magic." He ruffled the boy's hair.

Meanwhile in the living room Goliath and Elisa were having their quite night together while Broadway and Angela were in the kitchen, suddenly hearing Brooklyn and Elsa come in.

Goliath looked up, and then could hardly believe his eyes. Brooklyn held Elsa's hand, and he waved nervously. "Er... hi Goliath."

Elisa gasped, a hand over her mouth at how tall Elsa was as a gargoyle compared to Brooklyn's human form. "What... how did this happen?"

"What kind of sorcery is this?!" Demanded Goliath in a growling way. Brooklyn swallowed then continued. Brooklyn shuffled his feet before soon starting to speak, the rest of the clan coming in and also terribly shocked Brooklyn was human again.

Bronx growled, stalking over, sniffing him. Brook grinned, hoping Bronx would recognize his scent through the human one which he did, licking Broolyn's hand and doing the same to Elsa who scratched behind his ears. She still loved Bronx. "It... it happened while we babysitted Alex. He sneezed and... here we are." He shrugged, tilting his head, grinning sheepishly.

Goliath groaned, knowing he couldn't do much second training if the next leader wasn't a gargoyle, Lexington open mouthed. "How... long will this last?" The green gargoyle asked.

Elsa looked down. "Puck said a week we'll be in these forms." She responded in despondency. Brooklyn eyed Elisa in nervousness as she came over. "Well, maybe I can get you to help me out during the day. Me and Matt can use the help."

Human Brooklyn's eyes rounded at the idea of working for the police, and nodded, willing to try to talk to more people that way. Hudson offered gargoyle combat training for Elsa which she accepted, wanting to improve her fighting and now gliding.

When Xanatos had learned of how his son turned Brooklyn human he offered Brook one of his shirts and pants, Brooklyn putting them on gratefully since he couldn't go into public with only a loincloth.

Soon the night came to a close after Brooklyn got more used to being a human and Elsa walking on her gargoyle feet. They would practice gliding the next night, Brooklyn following her out onto the parapets. Her ears lowered.

"Does... the stone sleep hurt?" Elsa asked in fear. Brooklyn smiled, shaking his head. "No. We call it the concrete cure. You'll be ok honey. I'll be here when you wake again."

This was his first time watching his clan turn to stone, his heart thumping as the whole clan took their positions. Elsa stood on one, waiting while crouched. Soon, a tingly feeling crept up her skin, the stone covering her in an almost soothing way, making her soon fall asleep, body now a statue.

Brooklyn shielded his eyes as the sun came up, which felt nice and warm. He wondered how Demona felt when turning human and seeing the sun for the first time, going back in to rest in his room after everything that had happened, wondering what this week will do for him and his wife.
