Chapter 29

Sorry about the long wait everyone, but here is more Frozen!

....

The Elemental couple soared out above the big skyscrapers, Elsa hanging onto her husband's broad shoulders. She always loved being able to feel how strong he was.

Brooklyn breathed in the smell of being able to be home, even if the air wasn't the best, this was his true home and island, flying around the Twin Towers as he did so.

"What are these buildings?" Elsa called out, looking at the towers in awe. Brooklyn grinned at her. "The World Trade Center. We once battled Puck on here who turned all the humans down below into gargoyles and I turned human.

Elsa blinked. She had a hard time believing her husband had actually been human for a while. "How did it feel? Being in a human body?"

The red gargoyle flushed, unsure how to answer without being offensive. "Uh, well, I-I... not as strong. Oh, updraft!" He called for a distraction, quickly flying upward above the antenna of the buildings.

He looked to her. "What do you want to see next?"

The ice queen stared about everywhere. "There's too much to choose from, and you know this place better love. You can pick the spot."

Brooklyn grinned. He knew exactly where to go first. "Then, to Lady Liberty. Our island's statue of freedom."

He directed his wings towards the island where the statue was, Elsa feeling the wind in her hair, now smelling the ocean coming up when reaching the edge of the city. Her eyes shone when seeing the big body of water below, much calmer than the Dark Sea in Arendelle.

Soon the beaked gargoyle landed on the top of the Statue of Liberty, Elsa climbing off of his back, the two gazing out at the sight of the city from this far, holding hands lovingly.

After some time in standing on the statue Brooklyn had Elsa climb back up, going into where he could find a place to give her the first taste of real New York food, possibly a hot dog.

He spotted a hot dog vending machine that was closed but the hot dogs were still kept in the cooler. Brooklyn managed to cook one for her, Elsa accepting the food, staring at it in curiosity.

"It's pork, really, not made out of dog meat," Brooklyn explained when her eyes were afraid that they killed dogs. She sighed in relief but then Brooklyn had something prickle in his mind. He had to soon tell her about his encounter with Demona, shaking with guilt that he didn't say anything to her or Anna, heart twanging painfully.

Elsa saw him looking downcast. "Love, what is it?" She asked, after finishing her hot dog. Brooklyn shrugged. "Nothing, I'm fine. Maybe, we can try going to the zoo now?"

The former Ice Queen then nodded, taking Brooklyn's hand gently, the two going into the air again but were unaware of a pair of eyes watching them from afar, following the couple.

In the shadows, Demona the former mate of Goliath had been out this night and had seen Brooklyn but he wasn't alone like he usually would. This time a human female she had never seen before in the city was with him.

By the way they looked at each other, it wound up filling Demona with disdain; realizing the two were... together. How could Brooklyn even consider an interspecies relationship? He was betraying the gargoyle race like Goliath! Her eyes glowed red, growling while gliding after them, seeing the two go into the zoo.

It would be too public for Demona to venture in after them, deciding to find a spot for a good ambush and went into the park. She would wait for the right moment.

While in the zoo, Elsa marveled at the many species of animals in there but at the same time, she was also sad, hating to see them all locked up. Brooklyn felt her sadness, hugging her with one arm. "I know it is hard seeing animals this way but some of these animals here are endangered in the wild, and once in a while zoos can help them repopulate. The predators here also never hunt the prey in this place either."

Elsa reluctantly nodded as she spotted the laughing animal known as a hyena in a cage, raising her brow at it. Brooklyn's ears lowered. "Hyena. Not exactly my favorite." He muttered, recalling the Lion King. Brooklyn knew they must have some purpose here on earth but all he knew about them so far was being revolting scavengers.

After spending some time befriending a couple of the nicer animals, Brooklyn and Elsa both decided to go to the park now, wanting to end their date with something nice and calm.

They both walked along the pathway together, Elsa happy she had a strong male with her even with her own ice powers, some big muscles were welcome too in case they ran into trouble.

She and Brooklyn sat down on a bench near the fountain together, both gazing into each other's eyes quite lovingly, Brooklyn stroking his wife's cheek, her skin so soft. Elsa closed her eyes too, and even if Brooklyn's hand was a little rough it was so gentle. Her own hand touched his beak, making him flush, the two soon kissing each other.

"Thank you for showing me such a good time my love. But you were troubled earlier on our first flight out. Is there something on your mind?" Elsa asked, rubbing Brooklyn's arm, making the Second gulp, hoping she would have forgotten about his falter earlier.

His heart trembled. "Well... er... it is hard to explain..."

"I can explain for him!" Purred a female's voice that sounded quite sinister, making the couple jump up from their spots, eyes widening when seeing a shadowy figure land.

Brooklyn's eyes glowed, ready to use both is wind power and muscles on whoever dared to interrupt their alone time. "Whoever you are, we don't have time for this!" He snarled, ears flat, Elsa noting the wings on the figure in the shadows who stepped out, a sly smile on her face, red hair gleaming in the moonlight.

It was someone Brooklyn never wanted to see again when coming into Arendelle, and now she had seen Elsa. His old hatred burned inside his stomach, growling even more threateningly. "Demona!"

Demona chucked softly, flashing her eyes at him. "Aw, Brooklyn. I'm so glad you didn't forget me. But, I'm surprised. You didn't tell your sweet wife about our past encounters?"

Brooklyn's heat in his stomach grew, rage boiling. "That's ages ago, Demona! I don't need to repeat the story again!" He roared. Elsa was now even more confused, looking worried. "What does she mean, past encounters?"

The demoness smirked at Elsa. "Girl, haven't you heard? He once nearly worked for me. Isn't that right?" It made the red male bristle, snapping back. "You tricked me!"

Elsa's heart felt like now it was going to break. Brooklyn really conspired with this she-devil? She had a hard time believing it! Her eyes glared now at Brooklyn who knew he was in trouble, his anger fading as Demona kept on mocking him. "So, the great Goliath had begun to encourage interspecies relationships, hasn't he? And after everything I've taught you about humans?"

"Shut up!" Brook screamed, his eyes flooding with angry tears. Demona shook her head, glaring hard at the human girl with him. "And I don't really even care where she came from, other than that she will die!"

Demona bared her fangs, charging head on at Elsa whose eyes widened, raising her hands, and suddenly her ice magic shot out, Demona now seeing what was happening, gasping as the ice struck her on the side, causing Demona to fall to the floor. Glancing at the ice, then at Elsa, Demona couldn't believe what had occurred. This human was magic? Like the Magus?

Brooklyn felt his own wind power rage within from his anger, Gale whistling in his ears for the right moment of attack. "She isn't the only one who has powers. I don't ever want to see you again Demona! And you'll stay the hell away from her!" His eyes glowed green, the wind rushing out of his hands, flapping his wings to speed it up, Demona crying out again with the wind slamming her against a tree, knocking her out.

He stood there, panting but Elsa rather mad now. "You have a lot of explaining to do Brooklyn!" She shouted, poking him hard in the chest, Brook wincing and nodding. "I know. But, not here. Let's get back to the castle and talk privately, please?"

Elsa sighed before agreeing, climbing up on her husband's back again, the two taking off into the night, Brooklyn not eager to reveal his yucky history with him and Demona.

They had just managed to make it back after being out for nearly half the night exploring the city and fighting back Demona, feeling quite exhausted but Elsa was wanting answers from Brooklyn before he turned to stone again.

The two landed, Goliath and the others also arriving as well, seeing the scared and sad look on their Second's face as well as Elsa's looking not too happy. Goliath raised his brow, hoping they weren't mad at each other.

Brooklyn's tail swished uncomfortably as Hudson greeted them both. "Lad, Lass, glad you are back safely and with time te spare. But, what happened? You don't look very good."

Elsa's eyes were still narrowed. "My husband has something to say to me that he neglected to bring up before our wedding." She said heatedly, Brooklyn rubbing his arms.

"W-We encountered Demona while we were both so happy. I was gonna tell her at the right time but... but..." Brooklyn flustered, Elsa backing him into the parapet.

"Then tell me now, Brooklyn!" She shouted, poking his chest again. Brooklyn's eyes watered, not wanting to tell the story again in front of his family. But he couldn't delay any longer. Swallowing, he began to speak.

He told Elsa of when Demona first came to his rescue one night a long while ago while he was still young, then started encouraging his still gullible mind about the evils of all humans. Elsa's face calmed for a brief moment but knew he still had more to say.

"S-She made me do a terrible thing without me knowing Elsa. Demona... had me steal a spell book to cast a horrible spell on h-him." He pointed shakingly at Goliath, his eyes rather sad at how pained Brooklyn looked for speaking about it again.

Elsa was stunned, realizing with a terrified feeling that Demona had wound up seducing her love into being able to use evil sorcery. Her anger was going even further, Brooklyn finishing his story of how he redeemed himself by saving Goliath, taking the spell book back to the castle and freeing his leader from the spell.

"That's how it was. If... you don't want to be with me anymore, I understand. I'm sorry that I... I didn't tell you sooner before our wedding day but I was so happy, happy to have a mate that I had no desire to tell you, in case it broke our connection." Brooklyn sniffed, rubbing his eyes, Broadway and Lex's ears lowered from hearing his apology.

The former Ice Queen trembled, for his voice was so sincere and sorry, she raced to give him a hug then a kiss. Brooklyn was stunned but then melted into it, the two kissing for quite a few minutes then breaking apart. Elsa gazed into Brooklyn's amber eyes, while he gazed into her green ones. "I think I understand. But I still want to be with you, no matter how dark your past had been, it is over now. And we're together, that's all that counts."

Brooklyn had a watery smile, wrapping Elsa in a wing hug, the two nuzzling one another and kissing again, Angela looking quite happy for Brooklyn and his mate even if it wasn't another gargoyle. He was happy, and that was what mattered.

Soon the two broke apart to say good night to one another as pink began to rise into the sky, Elsa kissing his cheek one more time. Brook jumped onto his stand, staring at the city, his tears still present. Goliath sat next to him. "You were brave to tell her your hard past Brooklyn. I couldn't have asked for a better Second in Command." Goliath praised gently, Brooklyn grinning back. He had missed hearing his leader's deep gentle tone, his stone sleep now beginning to cover him, Brooklyn taking his usual position as he always did, his vision turning dark in sleep, Elsa just now lying in bed to get her own rest, glad to have made amends with her dear husband.

....

Don't worry, their story isn't over yet, and Demona will play an even bigger role soon.
