Chapter 12

While the trio were with the Trolls Elsa had trouble of her own with Hans and his men attacking the castle. They wound up taking her prisoner. She woke up in a cell.

Brooklyn! Anna! Elsa thought, eyes widening as she went to try and run to find them, only for chains to hold her back. She looked behind at the cuffs covering all her hands to prevent her ice powers. Tears fell when seeing all of Arendelle covered in snow. Brooklyn and Anna were right.

"Oh no, what have I done?" Elsa whispered when the cell door opened. Hans came in. She glared at him. "Why did you bring me here?" She demanded.

Hans looked concerned. "I couldn't just let them kill you," he stated but Elsa didn't believe him. "I'm a danger to Arendelle. Please get Anna and my guardian," she pleaded. Hans shook his head. "They haven't returned. But if you would just stop the winter. Bring back summer, please," he said pleadingly but Elsa looked at him, her face saddened.

"Don't you see? I can't!" She cried, still thinking about Brooklyn which recently kept making her heart flutter. Maybe she realky did love him. "You have to tell them to let me go!" Elsa begged then. But Hans just stood up. "I'll do what I can," he stated, leaving and locking the door.

But Elsa felt she couldn't wait, wanting to break out. Then she saw ice coating her cuffs, knowing this could be her chance.

....

Meanwhile Sven raced as fast as he could down the mountain to Arendelle knowing Brooklyn had linited time. He still shivered while Anna continued to hold him, Kristoff sitting in front. He turned around.

"How is he holding?" He asked. Brook looked pale, his skin a lighter red than it should, hair nearly all blue right now and sometimes sneezing. Anna stroked his forehead. "Still cold, Kristoff and getting colder. He still needs help!" Brook heard the female voice, looking up groggily.

"M-mom? S-so c-cold..." he croaked feebly for one of his many mothers. Anna frowned at that, stroking his cheek while holding tight to Kristoff's arm. "Sh, easy. It's me Anna. It'll be ok. We're nearly home," she stated gently, hating how cold her guardian was, hoping they could fix Brooklyn.

Kristoff frowned. "C'mon buddy, faster!" He urged Sven. Sven picked it up while Olaf slid behind them, tripping on a rock and gaining speed out of their direction. "Oh boy! Meet you guys at the castle!" He called. Kristoff hlanced at him. "Stay out of sight, Olaf!" He said firmly. Olaf nodded. "I will!" Right as he slid into the village.

"Hello!" He greeted off camera.

"Aah! It's alive!" Shrieked another off screen woman.

The others eventually reached the entrance to the castle and Sven halted his galloping there. Kristoff jumped off and helped Anna and Brooklyn down. Brook cringed from how weak his legs were from the cold attacking him, stumbling. His friends took hold of him.

"Whoa, easy," Kristoff said. Sven cooed a gentle noise, tilting his head when watching his new friends leave. Anna looked at Kristoff. "Will you be ok?" She asked. He just smiled. "Don't worry about me, your guardian is more important right now." He said. Brook kept shivering and he barely registered what they were saying.

Soon the three approached the door, Anna knocking. Brooklyn felt nervous about seeing everyone again. Kristoff backed off when some of the maids opened the door, gasping when seeing Anna and Brooklyn unexpectedly back home again.

"Oh, Anna! We were worried sick! But what's wrong with him?" Asked the lead maid, staring at the red gargoyle in some shock. Anna hugged him protectively. "He needs to get warm and I need to see Prince Hans!" She demanded in her princess voice. Kristoff smiled, impressed but then it fell when the door closed. He turned around, sighing. Guess he wasn't needed anymore.

Sven cooed again, gazing at the door then back at his friend before following.

The maids took Anna and Brooklyn to a room with a fireplace, as well as getting Hans. Brooklyn's muscles felt terribly weak from his shaking, seeing the fire and wanting to be there when Hans showed.

"Anna! What—?" He gaped in shock as well, staring down at the gargoyle he met before in terrible shape. Anna grabbed his arms. "Please! You need to help me save him!" She pleaded. Hans held up his hands. "Whoa, wait, slow down," he said.

Brooklyn gave him a weak gaze. "C-cold..." he just said. This made Hans frown, instantly knowing but not wanting to say anything yet. He helped bring Brooklyn and Anna to the couch, setting Brook down on it who felt the gentle heat, sighing but kept shaking, wings around him.

"Tell me what caused this," Hans said, feeling the gargoyle's skin but pulled back at how cold it was. Anna frowned but she had to say it. "My sister. S-she hit Brooklyn with her powers after he sacrificed himself to keep me from this fate," she responded. Hans's eyes widened. "But you said she'd never hurt you," he said.

"But I was wrong," Anna said. "And-and only an act of true love could save him," she revealed. Hans studied Brooklyn over again, finding it hard to imagine anybody wanting to.

"I'm terribly sorry about it." Hans said. Brooklyn watched the prince, feeling suspicions about this guy now. He seemed nice enough before but now something felt off. Then Hans just smiled. "If only there was someone out there who loves a creature like you, and someone like you Anna," Hans added as well which startled the two.

Brooklyn glared. He should've known all that this human wanted was the crown! Anna placed a protective hand on Brooklyn's shoulder. "You said you loved me," Anna said, wondering what was happening.

Hans stood up. "As 13th in line in my own kingdom I didn't stand a chance. So I knew I had to marry into the throne somewhere."

Anna couldn't believe this. Hans had been using her this whole time! "What?!" She cried out. Hans continued. "As heir, Elsa was preferrable of course. But no one was getting anywhere with her." He sneered.

This ticked off Brooklyn. He growled weakly. "N-nobody w-will u-use E-Elsa like that!" He stormed before falling back down. Hans rolled his eyes, picking up a water jug. "Save your breath, devil. I never liked your looks when I first laid eyes on you. And as for you, Anna, you were so desperate for love you were willing to marry me just like that! I supposed, with all these circumstances, I would have to stage a little accident for Elsa and you, gargoyle." Hans poured the water on the fire.

Anna was mortified at what he did, seeing her guardian flinch when the warm heat faded. He fell off the couch. "No, stop! Leave him alone!" Anna begged, shielding Brook with her body. Brooklyn was shaking and whimpering, wanting the fire back. Anna knew she could call the guards but she couldn't leave Brooklyn and Hans would probably come up with a lie of some sort. By now the whole kingdom was on his side.

"Elsa had doomed herself, and the two of you were dumb enough to go after her." Hans mocked. Brooklyn kept glaring though feeling the ice stabbing everywhere inside him, continuing to lie on the floor until Hans suddenly grabbed his hair. He cried out.

"No!" Anna cried, but Hans held out a knife befofe putting it on Brooklyn's neck. "What a story I could create out of this," he growled, poking the knife in. Brooklyn was scared, staring at Anna in desperation. "I will say this beast tried to attack me and Anna before he got too weak, and betrayed his girls by killing Anna. I will pretend to them that I have slayed the one who murdered the Princess, and also kill Elsa to bring back summer."

Brooklyn hissed but the knife made him choke softly. "Y-you're no match f-for my Elsa..." he said shakily. Hans sneered in his face, making him glance away. "No, devil. You and Anna are no match. But I on the other hand am the hero who will save Arendelle from destruction. You sweet former Princess, will stay here unless you want your precious guardian to perish. For he to me is a blockage for my chance to take this crown." He said to Anna who didn't want to make a wrong move so she reluctantly nodded. Hans let Brook go then stood up.

Anna glared, hugging Brooklyn who buried his face into her chest, scared from being nearly stabbed. "You won't get away with this! I'll have the guards on you!" She shouted. Hans just smirked. "Too late, Princes- no. Plain Anna. I already have." He then closed and locked the door. Anna ran to get the door unlocked but it was locked on the outside. She pounded the door but nobody was out there.

Brooklyn was crying quietly, curling on thr floor. It couldn't end like this for him; not finding anybody who cared enough to thaw his frozen heart and heal him. He felt like trash right now, scared of dying away from his clan. Anna heard Brooklyn crying and gave up on trying to open the door, instantly going to his side.

"Hey, shh. It-it'll be fine. S-someone will come I know they will," she said, her own tears falling. Anna wanted to help Brooklyn but she didn't fall for him quite as easily as her sister despite Elsa trying to push Brooklyn away. But the red male still couldn't calm down. Ice was already showing on his cheeks now, hair completely blue. Anna quickly set up a fire again before she took him again in her arms.

"It- it's 'ver for me, A-Anna. H-Hans is right, n-nobody l-loves me enough to save me..." he said in a defeated voice, eyes dulled, gazing at the floor.

This made Anna glare. That wasn't true! She took his face in her hands. "No, Brooklyn. Don't listen to him. You're a kind and gentle person that any special girl would want to be with," she argued. Brooklyn didn't answer, just closed his eyes and snuggled in Anna's hold. Anna sighed, knowing now they couldn't do anything except wait and see if anybody would help them.
