Esme did not expect to wake up after that disastrous mission.  Or to see Andy unconscious in a bed near her looking very pale with her sisters nearby as well. Sophie and Phoebe were unconscious as well but looked pretty healthy.

She and her sisters loss a lot of blood on the botched high profile Hellfire Club assignment that ended in multiple explosions and shrapnel heading towards the Frost Sisters.  Esme thought she and her sister's would've been left behind to bleed out.

In a few moments Sage entered the Hellfire Club's state of the art snd expensive medical wing observing all of them and talking to Esme. Esme's questions started out about Andy." He wasn't in the path of the explosion or injured before me and my sisters passed out from blood loss. Why is here? And what made him so pale?"

" He donated a lot of blood to save all of you. When you came here it was obvious all of you Cuckoos needed a blood transplant and he was the only one who volunteered.  He's a universal doner and selfless. He let himself rest only after he learned you were okay. " Esme nearly couldn't believe Sage's answer but this was the kind of thing Andy would do. She heard once how he donated blood to a total stranger at the Mutant Underground to just help someone. 

But what he did for Esme didn't just save her life it saved his family. Esme owed it to him to at least  make sure while he rested he had a enjoyable dream.

Andy woke up seeing her worried smile." Why are you sitting next to me? And have you been waiting for me to wake up after giving blood? "

Immediately Esme created a plausible excuse and lie." Sage was worried about compilations so someone needed to watch over to you and I was the first volunteer. "
