Being a Soulmate with a telepathic mutant that's part of a Hive Mind is unprecedented. No prior knowledge or cautionary tales were around for Andy to learn from. So he had to figure out exactly how would this relationship work exactly but at least it wasn't as complicated as John's relationships with both Dreamer and Clarice. 

His connection with Esme was affected by her connection with her sister's Phoebe and Sophie. All three Frost Sisters aka the three in one were reunited now. But they weren't exactly the most kind when they first met Andy. Or right after that or even after some given time.

Their first meeting started afted he and Esme dealt with every agent and
staff member standing between them. Imagine being slammed into a car or having your arm broken while dealing with horrific images shoved into their mind. Imagine attacking your friend while both of you are in mental agony.
That's what everyone faced when they tried to stop the Von Strucker and Frost. The sisters had smiled when the collars were removed but they thought Esme was playing a long con or a trick when Andy introduced himself as Esme's Soulmate.

They thought it was laughable or he was being used as a pawn. " Robbing the cradle for our salvation dear sister? Or did he stumble upon your plan and you made him follow you?" They finished each other's sentences with identical grins.

Esme didn't find it funny at all and explained it to them and they looked at him perplexed. Andy knew what they were telling Esme telepathically and it wasn't the kindest.  The word underwhelming and naive was used again and again.  They clearly had higher expectations.

It was hard to have a private mental conversation with Andy trying not to say anything while bejng insulted and picked apart. Luckily Esme picked up on his feelings of being alone and mocked and stopped them. 

Even after he followed them to the luxurious safe house it took them a while to warm up to him. It was sort of like high school trying not to set off the person that was just looking for an excuse.  So they could hurt him or mess with him.

Andy stayed out of their way staying close to Esme but they were always testing him or watching him. At first they tried to see if Andy would be able to pick out Esme if all of them dressed alike.

Andy trusted his feelings on that one and succeeded. And even after that Esme would do something to stand out just to annoy her sisters and show her disagreement with their treatment of Andy.

But even his private thoughts with him and Esme and even to himself weren't private anymore.  Imagine sharing a sacred conversation with the person your destined to be with and then having her overprotective and suspicious sisters always listening or adding their comments.  It was awful for Andy.

Finally Esme stopped it and put her foot down.  After her sisters had warped and ripped apart the pleasant thoughts and dreams Andy shared with Esme. She was furious wirh her family. 

" He's left behind his family for me and to safe you two. He risked his life for us and doesn't deserve any of the crap you inflicted on him. I'm going to find a way to block you two our from Andy's connection to me. There are things we are not sharing with you and you need to accept it."

" Accept that he is my soulmate and that he is linked to me. What I feel for him won't be changed by you two acting petty, immature and over protective. "

They agreed which was nice. Andy was able to share things again with Esme secretly and was able to confide in her. With the other two frosts off his back things were looking up for them. 

But Esme's next thoughts were definitely not to be shared with her family and that wasn't a bad thing. It was something private, beautiful,  and it was to him art. Imagine someone creating a beautiful illustration of their plans for you. Something you've only fantasized about this drawing isn't on paper. It's in your mind and you can experience all five senses and almost forget it's in your head. 

It's your sign that your Soulmate whose a telepath is willing to do anything for you no matter how difficult.
