To everyone else it looked like a failed double suicide attempt to stay together.  They were left in a seemingly catatonic unresponsive state for weeks. They were turned into propaganda for the Capitol soon enough with Avox's tending to them. But they mentally they were fine. Esme and Andy's minds were linked and functional.  They could still be around but without anyone in the outside world the wiser.

At first they shared relief and love in this short of mental area and bridge.  But they also started planning a way to escape. But then someone took their bodies to this secretive underground area.  To District X which had been surviving in the shadows and trying to fight back.

A resistance and safe area containing survivors, outsiders,  enemies of the Capitol and escaped  Avox. Lead by Lorna Dane whose father and siblings perished years ago. She had been declared dead years ago when she used her abilities of magnetism to smash into the area containing the games her years and to escape. She took a projectile to the back and her face and everyone assumed she died.

When in reality she was rescued and trained. She did the same to them when Esme returned herself and Andy to normal but leaving a link. They had one request.  Have their families saved and brought here.

That's when they started fighting.  Through their old homes falling apart and watching loved ones reduced to ash. They turned enemies into allies. Campbell the announcer and his associate the esteemed fascist Montez died by Andy and Esme hands. It was personal and it was justice. 

On the remains of the Capitol they celebrated embraced.  With Mockingjays around them they enjoyed the lack of tyranny.  Then they volunteered to hepp people rebuild and create something for themselves.
