ITU Chapter 9: Comfort
Leafy stared at Microphone, a look of sympathy on her face. "I...I'm so sorry..." She said, as Microphone smiled, although it seemed forced.
"I-It's f-fine!" She stuttered, walking faster. Leafy attempted to keep up. "It's clearly not." She said, and started to feel wind swirl around the two.
"W-We're almost t-there." Microphone said, ignoring what Leafy said. Leafy stared at her, genuinely concerned. "Microphone, please..." She said.
The wind blew harder. "I don't want to think about it!" She cried out, almost sobbing. "Just stop bringing it up!" They walked into the room, and Paintbrush instantly stood up.
"Microphone, what's wrong-" She smiled, interrupting them. "Here she is, the only other object with ice powers!" She gestured to Leafy. Her arms were shaking.
Paintbrush walked over to her, concerned. "What did she say to you?" They asked. Leafy's hands frosted over, a slight pang of guilt stabbing her.
"I didn't mean to cause any pain!" She said. Paintbrush lightly glared at her. "What did you do?" They asked, anger evident in their voice.
Leafy clenched her hands into fists ice accidentally shooting out, covering the floor. Paintbrush and Microphone both flinched at the noise.
Leafy turned away in embarrassment, then turned to face them. "It's not healthy to act like this situation is okay." She sighed, frowning sadly.
"We were taken away from our friends, our family!" She said, as Paintbrush's glare softened. "I...We both know that." They said, avoiding Leafy's eyes.
"But what can we do? X has been very kind to all of us." Leafy tsked, glaring at the ground. She sighed, her glare vanishing. She walked closer to the two.
"We can let our sadness out." Leafy said, holding her arms out. "Come here..." Without hesitation, Microphone hugged her, sobbing slightly.
Leafy comforted her, it was the least she could do for her. Paintbrush stared in silent shock, confused.
The ice elemental wasn't as cold as they originally thought...
Taco walked through the woods, a slight frown on her face. She was beginning to wonder if Leafy felt the same way about her... or if she preferred Firey instead...
She sighed. "Are you okay?" Pin asked, startling her. "Huh? Oh, yeah!" Taco lied, smiling. Pin frowned. "Come on...you can tell me..." She said.
Taco's smile fell, and she rubbed her arm. "...Does Leafy feel the same way about me that I feel about her...?" She asked, voice quiet. Pin stared at her in shock.
"You're doubting yourself?!" She nearly yelled. Taco stared at her. "Maybe Firey's right...What do I know about love...?" Pin gave her a stern look.
"Don't let him get into your head!" She said, crossing her arms. "You've spent more time with Leafy through this, than Firey ever did!" Taco's eyes widened slightly.
"Sure, Firey might have brought her back, but who went up to get her immediately after she ran away?" Pin pointed out. "Firey only cared when he found out she could have died!"
She frowned, looking away from Taco in guilt. "Even I partially caused her decline...I let the stupid Dream Island thing get in the way of our close bond..."
She turned back to face her. "If anyone knows what love is, it's you." Taco smiled a bit, and the two continued forward. "Thanks, Pin." She said.
X sighed, flipping through all of the books. He had a huge migraine from his fight with Leafy earlier. Flipping through the last two pages, he paused for a moment.
No wonder he couldn't find any answers, he had been reading a book of Fairy Tales! The last page had a picture of the Princess and the Prince kissing.
X stared at it for a moment, before he closed the book with a scoff. "True love's kiss... what a joke." He muttered under his breath. Suddenly, before X could mope, a voice called out.
"Mistah X!" A familiar Cockney accent cried out. X turned around, watching as Toilet sped into the room. He smiled at him, trying to ease his nerves.
"Is there a problem?" He asked, walking over to Toilet. He was visibly shaking, much to X's dismay. "I'm sorry! I-I tried to stop them, b-but-"
X put a hand on his head, offering a comforting smile. "You at least managed to lure him into the woods, right?" Toilet nodded. X gently pat him.
"I'll take over from here, get some rest." He said in a hushed tone, as Toilet calmed down slightly. X rose his hand, firing crystals of ice into the air.
They swirled around for a moment, before attaching to his back. A hole opened up in the icy ceiling, and X launched himself through it.
Coiny climbed down the tree, shaking his head. "I don't even know what I'm supposed to be looking for, Four." He said, as Four glanced around.
"Any sort of big village, or something..." He said, almost as if he was as unsure as Coiny. "I just wish Leafy could give us a sign." The group continued forward.
Suddenly, a twig snapped. Firey jolted. "Did you hear that?" He asked nervously. Taco rolled her eyes. "Calm down, it's probably just a woodland creature."
There was suddenly a much larger snap, like a log had been snapped in two. Taco was alert now. "Okay, maybe not." She said. Four clenched his non-metal hand, readying his attack.
Whatever snapped that log was in the bushes now, making them rustle loudly. Four cautiously crept up to them, raising both his hands.
With his metal hand, he swiped at the bushes, revealing a familiar figure behind it. He stopped himself from using his laser, staring at him in confusion.
Gelatin was holding a basket, a berry in his other hand. He smiled at Four, glancing at the others as well. They stared at him in confusion.
"Hi guys! Fancy seeing you here!"
