Chapter 1: Remember
In a little park someplace, the quiet atmosphere it usually had was shattered by the conversations between previous contestants. Many of them were laughing at the jokes their friends made, or gasping at the juicy gossip they were being told.
One of the contestants were missing, however. One that was watching all of them from an open window. It was Leafy. She stared down at them from the forth story of the abandoned mansion she lived in, wanting in on the action.
She knew it was pointless to try, but she still had that blind optimism in her heart. "Well... 60 can be split into two 30s...and 30 is just three groups of ten, so...it's like third times the charm in a way...yeah!"
She started to run to the door, smiling. "This is the one! I can feel it!" She could feel her energy depleting quickly, but tried to ignore it. She felt woozy, but still held a smile on her face.
By the time she was down stairs, her whole body was aching. "Ha...guess it's been a while since I exercised." She laughed, but the laughing turned into violent coughing. Every time she coughed, it sounded worse.
Like liquid was filling her lungs. Once she was able to stop, she took deep, raspy breaths. But she still was smiling. Standing up, she took a proud stance. "Mind over matter! I'm not gonna let some allergies stop me!"
She ran through the front door, ignoring all the pain her body was causing her. How could she focus on the pain when she was so excited? Maybe everyone would finally talk to her again! She skid to a halt when she reached the gates of the park.
Looking up at the handle, she was about to reach for it, when suddenly-
"Oh. You." A familiar voice spoke from behind. Leafy paused. Her blood turned to ice, and her face visibly paled. "F-Firey?" She spoke, her voice sounding hollow. "You can't come in."
She whipped around, the gate following her vision. It was now golden, Firey inside holding the door open. She couldn't see his eyes, but felt him glaring at her. "You can't come in." He smirked, closing the gate.
Leafy's body went rigid as tears threatened to spill from her eyes."N-No..." she managed to mutter, before grabbing her head. "Nonononono- N-Not t-this again!" She suddenly couldn't control her body any more.
She tried to move, noticing the sky turn into a mess of white noise. Her arms rose, and she pulled out a phone. "No!" She screamed trying to fight against her own hands. They slowed down to a painful crawl, as they began to punch in that dreaded number.
"NO! STOP! I CAN'T DO THIS!" She screamed, tears rolling down her cheeks.
"Uh...Leafy?" A voice woke her from her trance. She was back at the park, in front of the gate. Taco was in front of her, a slightly concerned look on her face. "It's not that hard you know." She joked, pushing open the gate.
"You could've just asked for help." Leafy shook her head, still dazed from her weird episode. "T-Taco...? Where...Where am I?" Taco's eyes widened slightly. "The park...? Leafy, are you okay?"
Leafy tensed. It was all coming back to her. She didn't want to admit what she just saw, but still wanted to ask for help. "I-I... Taco, I saw something bad." Taco's concerned look returned.
"That sounds serious, what did you see?" She asked. Leafy just shook her head, smiling again. "I can't s-say, I-I'm already over it." She said, avoiding the question. "D-Don't tell anyone about w-what you saw! Please!"
Leafy said, as she ran away from the park. "W-Wait, Leafy!" She yelled, but it was too late. Leafy had already disappeared around the corner of the bakery. Taco sighed, hoping it meant nothing that she saw a spot of orange on Leafy's body.
