AHHHHH!! I honestly can't believe I finished writing this. It feels amazing! This story has grown soooo much since I first started writing it in 2014, and I'm so proud of myself for that.

This is the part where I should say a bunch of stuff about who knows what, but I just can't think of anything right now and I don't wanna bore anyone reading this. Also, I'm absolutely pooped.

So, thank you Dreamworks and Disney for inspiring me the way you did and for creating such wonderful characters. And thank YOU for all your support and love. Seriously. It's so, so incredibly encouraging to see.

Please feel free to kindly give me all the final criticisms your heart desires. I'd love to know what you all thought of this story! Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy the rest of this extra content. ❤️❤️

✧ The prologue was hugely inspired by the Brother's Grimm original Rapunzel tale. As you might have been able to tell. ;)

✧ I chose Rettersonne for Rapunzel's birth name because, in Germany, retter supposedly means saviour, and sonne, sun. AKA sun saviour. He-he.

✧ Liesa and Zacharia's original names were Lilianna and Zachari.

✧ In my version of the story, Corona is located in the Sargasso Sea. NOT in the Bermuda Triangle, though very close.

✧ When I originally published this, I managed to get to the Rettersonne house scene, where Liesa and Rapunzel escaped Pitch's attack and Rapunzel was captured (scene has changed now, as you've read). Only that and the story had 28 parts, each chapter sporting no more than 800 words. Just to show how much I stretched things out! And how important it is to let some stories incubate in your mind until you know it's the right time to write them.

✧ The Fernweh, (meaning "wanderlust" in German), was loosely based on the Rosalie, a ship that vanished without explanation in 1840. There were no Germans on board that I'm aware of.

✧ The ship pictured above is NOT the Rosalie. I could only find one picture of the ship but, to be quite frank, I didn't like it. This one looks pretty similar.

✧ Mim literally stands for Man in the Moon. I also didn't come up with it—it's on the ROTG wikia.

✧ At the time I'm posting this, what you've read is the third and final posting of this story. It is the second completed draft. Yay!

✧ The final word count of the completed draft 1 was precisely 36,918 words. Draft 2 bears a mighty 60,441 words.

Note: This has not been edited from the original form I published it in years ago, and it is NOT a bonus scene!!

Jack took a step forward, shifting so Rapunzel now clung onto his back, safe.

For now.

With a single, angry swing of his arm, Jack shot a blast of ice in Pitch Black's face.

The man just smiled and brushed the snow off of him. ''Now, was that real--?''

Jack blasted him again.

And Again. And again. And again.

Without thinking, he suddenly pushed Rapunzel off of him, none too harshly, before Pitch could counterattack. He held the girl at arms length and looked directly into those wonderful, bright green eyes. ''It's gonna alright, okay? We're gonna be fine, Punzie. Just believe in me.''

Then, he let her go and backed away. Out of thin air, he created four thick walls made of solid ice around her. Pitch wasn't going to hurt anyone today, and Jack would make sure of that, no matter what.

He heard the faint sound of Rapunzel calling his name but ignored it. Instead he faced Pitch again. The Bogeyman now possessed a herd of shadow horses who all stood behind him, waiting for the command to attack.

Jack scowled and pointed his staff toward Pitch once again. A burst of white and blue shot from its tip and, at the same time, darkness erupted from Pitch's hand, meeting Jack's attack midway. (Hashtag Voldemort/Harry battle, amirite?)

''What are you doing here, Pitch?'' Jack grunted through the noise, ''Didn't we shame you enough last time? Came for more?''

Pitch laughed and bared his sharp teeth, ''Oh, not this time, Frost. By the way, how are you enjoying being believed in? It's great isn't it? Now you can see why I crave it as much as I do.''

''Shut up.''

Jack's blue-white started eating at Pitch's black as anger flared inside of him. Slowly, he fought against the other man until, finally, his power was only inches from the Bogeyman's hand.

Fear laced his grey face. Around him, the horsed rustled. ''No, stay back!'' Pitch called to them.

Then, the blue-white made contact with him and he shot backwards, all the way down the other side of the alley.

From afar, Jack watched as Pitch stood and vanished into shadows. As he did, the air around him filled again with it's usual joyfulness.

Without the sounds of battle, Jack could now hear Rapunzel more clearly in her prison of ice. ''Jack?'' She cried, ''Jack! Let me out of here, let me out! Please, are you okay? What's happening? Jack, it's gone quiet, let me out! Let me out, please!'' She banged something on the ice over and over again--The frying pan she carried with her, he guessed.

Now that he thought more on it, he regretted what he'd done to her. She'd been trapped in a tower throughout all of the childhood and now that she was finally free, Jack just went along and trapped her again with his powers.

Hurriedly, he willed the ice to melt.

As soon as he was done, Rapunzel marched angrily to him and slapped his chest, hard. Jack winced, and as he did he swore that a look of guilt flickered through her soft features. Then, just as fast, the angry mask came back. ''How could you!'' She yelled as she hit him again, though this time a little less hard.

Then, she set a hand on his shoulder, pushed him down so they were now gazing directly into each others eyes, and jabbed a finger onto his chest. He felt his heart tighten as he saw the trace of tears on her cheeks.

''I could have helped you. I could have helped and instead you throw me inside another prison and you let me...,'' Her piercing green eyes unfocused as her voice trailed off.

Jack didn't mean to, but he carefully placed a hand on her cheek. ''Rapunzel, I'm sorry, I didn't....''

But she shook her head and took a step back. ''Don't.'' She said, her eyes brimming with fresh tears. Then, before Jack could utter another word, Rapunzel turned and walked away.

He found her sitting on the hard floor of an alley not too far from where Pitch's attack happened. Her shoulders shook as she cried into the knee's that were pulled into her chest. On her shoulder, a green lump sat, curled up in her hair.

Jack slowly walked over to her small form. He bent down and set the objects she'd left behind in a pile by her feet. Afterwards, he sat down a few feet away from her to give Rapunzel some space.

''I really am sorry,'' He begun, his voice horse. He heard a sniffle and her sobs quieted. ''I just wanted to keep you safe and I didn't think about....'' He trailed off as she lifted her body away from her knee's. Her face was flushed, covered in both snot and tears. She didn't look at him.

''I was so worried.'' Rapunzel's voice was barely even a whisper, ''I couldn't see anything in there and there was so much noise and I didn't know if you'd died or not. I was so terrified of you being dead.''

Jack let out a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding. Without hesitation, he set his staff on the ground and slid closer to her. ''Rapunzel. Out of all the things that could end me, you have to know that Pitch isn't one of them. I could take that guy on any day!'' He smiled and brushed his thumb over her cheek, wiping her tears away. ''Seriously, you've got nothing to worry about, okay? Come on,''

Jack slid again so his back was against the wall and opened his arms wide. Moments later, Rapunzel's tan legs were folded over his stretched-out ones, and her body was glued to him. His arms slid around her back and held her close. She smelled of roses and sweet almond.

He dug his head into the crook of her neck and whispered to her, ''Everything's going to be fine, I promise, okay?''

She nodded into his chest.

Jack knew that he shouldn't give her empty promises, but he knew, deep in his heart that he'd do anything to make what he told her true.

Anything.

Feel free to insert your thoughts here. :)
