Millie's Final Goodbye
Billie had been given permission by Doctor Mathers to attend his sister's funeral, his wrists were handcuffed with a long chain attached to the cuffs around his ankles. sadness filled his sigh.
Besides the police escort that Billie had and besides the funeral celebrant only two people showed up to Millie's death; Billie didn't recognise either of them. A fifty-year-old man dressed in a black suit and a young man who looked around the same age as Billie, the young man was dressed in a black suit.
Billie watched the males place down flowers on Millie's casket, everyone watched as Millie's coffin was lowered into the ground.
The two males threw handfuls of dirt on top of the coffin, they didn't say anything to Billie as they walked away from the lowered coffin.
Billie kept his gaze on his sister's grave.
Kyle looked over at the empty table where Billie and Millie normally sat, the hospital was attempting but failing to mourn Millie. He wasn't sure where Billie was, maybe it was a good thing that Billie wasn't in the common room, none of the patients knew how to interact with him when he was with his sister and now that she was gone, they were certain they didn't want to interact with him.
The patients feared Billie had killed Millie.
Kyle would give anything to see Millie staring back at him. He wiped the tears off his cheek.
Johnny wondered aimlessly down the hospital hallway. He felt lucid enough to understand he was in hospital. Johnny was missing his family; he had only seen them once since his arrival in the hospital.
"Kyle, Johnny, Veronica." Nurse Rozetta called out as she stepped out from behind the nurses desk.
Kyle turned his attention to Nurse Rozetta.
"The three of you have a session with Doctor Mathers now."
Veronica shifted onto her feet as she moved away from the window, Kyle followed behind her and Nurse Rozetta found Johnny before helping him into the quiet room.
The three patients sat down in a circle while Nurse Rozetta sat in the back of the room. Doctor Mathers closed the door behind him as he entered the room, he sat down in one of the two empty chairs left in the circle "How are you all?" He asked as he placed his notepad and pen in his lap.
Veronica shrugged a little, Johnny twisted his hands around each other and Kyle shifted his focus down to his shoes.
"Right." Doctor Mathers looked at the three patients in front of him "How about we talk about what's been happening? Who would like to start?"
None of the patients spoke.
"Can I say something, Doctor Mathers?" Nurse Rozetta's voice filled the silence.
Doctor Mathers looked up at her and nodded slightly.
"Alice and Millie were both wonderful patients in their own way. I know I'll miss them." Nurse Rozetta admitted.
"Thank you, Nurse Rozetta." Doctor Mathers smiled slightly before turning his attention to his patients. "Veronica?"
Veronica moved her attention to Doctor Mathers "I stayed away from both of them, they scared me."
"That's a start. What about Alice and Millie scared you?"
Veronica thought of her words for a moment "Alice was creepy. Millie was always with her brother and I just didn't want to die."
Doctor Mathers nodded slightly as he wrote down notes on his notepad. "Anything else, Veronica?" He looked up at her.
Veronica shook her head.
"If Billie wasn't by Millie's side, would you have gotten to know her?" Doctor Mathers asked.
Veronica shrugged slightly "I tend to steer away from people in here."
Doctor Mathers nodded slightly again "A lot of people do, that's why they're in here." He turned his attention to the two males in the room "Johnny? Kyle? Would you like to say something about Alice or Millie?"
Johnny chewed down on his lip "Alice was okay." He managed to say.
"Is that a good okay or a bad okay?" Doctor Mathers asked.
"Alice stayed away from me, but our rooms were across from each other. Alice once admitted that he was scared of the dark." Johnny admitted as he struggled with his words.
Doctor Mathers nodded slightly "Alice's childhood got the better of him at night." He let a small sigh slip through his lips. "What did you think of Millie?"
"My wife Shirley would've loved her." Johnny admitted.
"Would Shirley looked after Millie?" Doctor Mathers asked.
Johnny nodded "I could imagine Shirley trying keep the girl on the straight path."
Doctor Mathers smiled at Johnny's words. "Kyle, you've been quiet. Anything you have to say?"
Kyle shook his head.
"About Alice or Millie? Even both." Doctor Mathers tried to encourage Kyle to speak.
Kyle shook his head again.
"I know you didn't interact with Alice, he mostly tried to stir the twins up but what about Millie? I've seen the two of you attempt to interact."
Kyle remained silent.
"Hm." Doctor Mathers looked down at his notes than up at Kyle "Kyle, it's okay to speak freely amongst all of us."
Kyle didn't react.
"Kyle." Doctor Mathers watched him.
"FINE!" Kyle looked up at Doctor Mathers "Millie was a class act; she was a killer" He emphasised on the word killer. "She was hot, she was dangerous." He kept his focus on the doctor "We shared a kiss, we talked. Is that what you wanted to hear?"
Doctor Mathers opened his mouth to speak.
"No one knew her, not even her own brother." Kyle jumped up not caring that his chair had fallen over as he stormed out of the quiet room.
Nurse Rozetta had found fascination in the way Kyle had reacted; she turned her attention to Doctor Mathers. He had gotten what he wanted from Kyle.
"Right." Doctor Mathers tried to find his words "I think that's enough for today. If either of you have anything else you'd like to say I'm available all day." He smiled at them causing his facial scars to stretch.
Johnny and Veronica didn't need to be told twice as walked out of the room.
"Do you want me to bring Kyle to your office?" Nurse Rozetta asked.
Doctor Mathers shook his head "Just leave him be."
Nurse Rozetta nodded as she walked out of the quiet room.
