BELLAMY STOOD UP as the two girls cried. Cried for the loss of yet another one of their people. Cried for the loss of a little girl who did something rash because of her troubles. All of them were to blame, but Murphy pushed it. He would have pushed her over the edge if he could've, but he was too busy pressing his blade to Clarke's neck to ensure that Charlotte came with him.
"Bellamy." Harlai could hear Murphy's voice as Bellamy walked towards him, then his pace quickened. Bellamy yelled out before tackling Murphy to the ground, sending one punch after another.
Hearing this, Harlai shot to her face and ran over to Bellamy who straddled Murphy, slamming his fist repeatedly into the man's already beaten up face. "Bellamy, stop!" Harlai yelled, Clarke hot on her heels. "You'll kill him!"
Finn grabbed Bellamy, forcefully yanking him up and off of Murphy. "Get off of me! He deserves to die!" He fought against Finn and Clarke jumped in front of Bellamy.
"No! We don't decide who lives and dies." Clarke yelled back at him, trying to connect this to what just happened. "Not down here."
"So help me God, if you say the people have a right to decide-"
"No, No. I was wrong before, okay?" Clarke shook her head as she looked at Bellamy. "You were right. Sometimes it's dangerous to tell people the truth. But if we're gonna survive down here, we can't just live by whatever the hell we want. We need rules."
Bellamy brought a hand to his face and Harlai realized she had never seen him so distraught. To be fair, they were all upset, but he was closest with Charlotte. "And who makes those rules, huh? You?"
"For now, we make the rules. Okay?"
"So, what then? We take him back and pretend like it never happened?" Bellamy jabbed his finger at Murphy in the air as he looked back to Clarke.
"No!" Clarke yelled out and she stopped for just a second to think, looking down at Murphy before returning her eyes to Bellamy. "We banish him."
Harlai blinked in surprise at this and she walked over to them. "If we banish him, it will be just like murder. He won't stand a chance against those grounders, just like I-" She broke off and she shook her head, beginning to choke up just thinking about sending someone out into the woods.
"It's the only punishment we can do, Harlai." Clarke's eyes flickered to the woman who just shook her head again.
Bellamy then sucked in a breath as if to hold himself together and he walked over to Murphy, grabbing him and angrily yanking him off of the ground. "Get up."
He dragged him to the cliff's edge and Harlai and Clarke both yelled, "Bellamy, stop!"
"If I ever catch you near camp, we'll be back here. Understand?" Bellamy growled to him as he held Murphy over the edge until he nodded. After that, Bellamy pushed him to the ground and turned to the other guys who had followed Murphy.
"As for the four of you, you can come back and follow me, or go off with him to die."
Harlai just shook her head as tears began to flow down her face once again and she turned on her heel, heading back to camp without them. She didn't even know how to get back and she was very scared of meeting a grounder, but she couldn't stand to stand there while they sent Murphy off.

ONCE EVERYONE MADE IT back to camp, Harlai walked straight into the dropship and away from everyone else. She could feel Bellamy's eyes on her, but she didn't turn around. Maybe he made the right choice, but she still had the right to be mad at him for it.
Harlai climbed up to the ladder and she smiled a bit once she saw Monty. He turned to look over his shoulder at her and sent a broad grin her way. "How much did I miss?"
"A lot." She breathed out, letting a breathless laugh follow.
His eyes flickered to her hand as she sat down beside him and he grimaced. With all the adrenaline, she didn't realize that her knuckles were bloodied and bruised from punching the rock.
"What happened to your hand?"
Harlai tore her gaze from his work on the wristbands and she brought her hand up in front of her face, examining her knuckles. "I um... I punched the rocks after Charlotte- She jumped."
"Oh, man." Monty frowned and after a second, he leaned over and wrapped his arms around her in a tight hug.
It surprised Harlai, but she didn't even hesitate before wrapping her arms around him. She stuffed her face into his shoulder, suddenly feeling herself shaking from today's events.
The two pulled apart once they heard everyone coming up the ladder. She kept her eyes forward since she was still mad at Clarke for banishing Murphy. The other three were Jasper, Octavia, and Finn.
Monty grabbed two small tools as the four crowded around behind Monty and Harlai, Finn staying back a bit and leaning against the wall. Harlai's eyes found the open wristband propped up and she glanced down at hers which was still clasped around her wrist. She would give it up if Monty needed to work on it, but she wanted her mom to know that she was still alive. That she was okay.
Monty glanced over his shoulder at his best friend Jasper, one of the sweetest guys she knew, and he smiled. "Wanna do the honors?"
Harlai looked back at Jasper with a small smile of her own and she scooted over so Jasper could come beside Monty. "That port right there." Monty spoke softly as he pointed to where he was talking about, handing him a wire.
Jasper nodded and he took the wire from Monty's fingers and brought it over to the port, carefully and steadily. Once it touched the wristband, it began to spark and die out. Harlai winced, muttering an "ow" as her own wristband sparked and went out.
"What happened?" Clarke asked as Harlai examined her wristband. It definitely wasn't working.
"It didn't work." Monty grumbled as he prodded the wristband with some small tool. "I... think we fried all the wristbands."
Finn stormed out of the dropship after the news, Clarke following behind him. Jasper walked over to a wall with a sad look on his face and slid down it. Octavia walked over to him, sitting in front of him.
Harlai glanced over at Monty with a sad smile and she brought a hand over to rub his back. "We'll reach them somehow."
"Hopefully." Monty spoke as he looked over at her, but then he looked behind Harlai with wide eyes.
Her dark eyebrows followed his gaze over her shoulder and she grinned at what she saw. Octavia leaned over, pressing her lips to Jasper's in a quick kiss. With that, she looked at him for a second and then stood straight up, walking away leaving a surprised Jasper, Harlai, and Monty. Jasper glanced over at the two as a smile slowly curled his lips and Monty gave him a thumbs up.
"Way to go Jasper." Harlai said with wide grin, making both of the men laugh.

HARLAI TURNER pulled her light brown locks into a ponytail at the nape of her neck. She had noticed that from being in the sunlight for so long everyday that her hair had lightened. It was funny how being in the sun could make so many changes. The young woman soaked it all in. She knew there was no way that they would go back to space, but she felt like the natural air and sunlight could be taken from her at any moment. Unfortunately, the sky was beginning to grow dark.
Harlai was sitting down on a log. She was glad to have changed into some clothes that Octavia found in the dropship, just a simple black tanktop with jeans, which were a little too big for her, and the same black shoes that she had been wearing. She never thought that she'd be so grateful for a change of clothes, but there she was.
The camp was just as loud and active as it ever was, even after they lost two members. She wondered how Murphy was doing out there in the forest. He must be feeling so alone.
Harlai's thoughts were cut off as she felt the log shift under her and a presence beside her. She turned her head to see that it was Bellamy and with a roll of her eyes, she stood up from the log.
"Harlai." Bellamy stood up as well and once she began to walk away, he walked after her. "Harlai, can we just talk?"
"No, Bellamy. Not now." She grumbled as she began to make her way to the entrance of their camp, but he grabbed her arm, making her halt to a stop.
"You don't need to go out there alone." Bellamy said, a look of worry growing on his face.
"Oh, like you sent Murphy out there alone?" Harlai glanced over her shoulder at him and she tried to yank her arm away, but his grip tightened.
"Harlai, please just talk to me." Bellamy's eyes softened and looking into them Harlai couldn't say no.
"Fine, but you have ten seconds."
A small smirk curled the boy's pink lips and he began to drag her to his tent. She could feel all eyes on her because everyone knew why Bellamy brought girls into his tent. There was only one reason: sex.
Harlai just grimaced once they were inside. Let them think what they want, but her and Bellamy knew that they were not going to.
"Spit it out, Bellamy. I have other things I could be doing right now."
The man just quirked an eyebrow as an amused expression appeared on his face. "Like what? Sitting on a log that I probably cut while everyone else works?"
His questions only made her grow even angrier at him. If looks could kill, Harlai would be glaring a hole right into Bellamy's face. "Five seconds."
"Okay, okay." Any humor from Bellamy's face drained and he held his hands up in defense. "I just wanted to talk about last night. What me and Clarke decided was best for everyone. Murphy's dangerous. He hunted Charlotte like he was a wild animal and she was his prey."
"I would be mad, too, if I was strung up for nothing." Harlai just shook her head and crossed her tanned arms over her chest, looking down at her tennis shoes to keep her eyes away from his. "I just keep thinking about how he must feel. Being alone in the forest. No one to talk to. Plus, there's the grounders." She shuddered even thinking of the savages.
"Harlai." Bellamy took a step closer and he cautiously placed his hands on her shoulders, looking down at her. She finally tilted her head upwards so that she could look up at him and she regretted it immediately. She could have sworn that just even looking into his deep brown eyes for a second took her breath away. "Murphy's strong, he'll be okay.. You don't have to worry about everyone all the time."
Harlai blinked as she watched him and she could feel her heart rate picking up. They just stood there staring at each other for a moment until she broke her gaze, looking at the ground. She cleared her throat, shaking off his grip.
"Your time is up." She mumbled as she whirled around and walked straight out of his tent.
"Harlai, wait-"
When he walked out, Harlai glanced up at the black sky only to see something flying across it. At first she thought it was a shooting star, but then it began to grow closer and she realized it was an escape pod.
"Bellamy!" Octavia yelled as she ran over to them.
He followed Harlai's gaze to see the escape pod just as it's parachute deployed.
"They came to save us!" One kid named Jonah said with a broad smile.
"Now we can kick some grounder ass!" A smirk curled Harlai's lips as her eyes followed the shuttle until it disappeared into the tree line.
