HARLAI WALKED BACK UP TO THE AREA THE DROP SHIP WAS to see Wells Jaha pushing back a scrawny boy wearing goggles on his messy brown mop of hair.
"Hey, hey, hey, hands off of him." Murphy said as his little group walked up and so did Harlai, coming from a different direction. "He's with us."
"Relax." Wells spoke as Murphy's eyes flickered momentarily to Harlai, before returning to Wells with curled lips. "We're just trying to figure out where we are."
"We're on the ground. That not good enough for you?" Bellamy spoke from a distance, Octavia by his side.
"We need to find Mount Weather." Wells said as he began walking up to the siblings. Harlai glanced around and she noticed that people were beginning to come back and listen to the wanna-be-leaders. "You heard my father's message. That has to be our first priority."
"Screw your father." Octavia told him with a grimace, her dark green eyes filling with hate, just as anyone elses' did at the mention of the Chancellor. "What, you think you're in charge here, you and your little princess?" Her eyes trailed from Wells to Clarke behind him, a smirk tugging at the corners of her lips.
"I'm sure they aren't thinking of that." Harlai decided to step in and her gut told her to shrink away as all eyes landed on her, but she only brought her voice up so everyone could hear. "If there's even a chance that there's food on Mount Weather, I think we should go. I know I'm not the only hungry one here."
A few murmurs of agreement followed her tiny speech, but Octavia just rolled her eyes. "I'm sure you are hungry." Saying this not out of concern, but in disdain.
Harlai glared at the short woman only to have Clarke step in front of her. "Harlai's right. We need to get to Mount Weather not because the Chancellor said so, but because the longer we wait, the hungrier we'll get and the harder this'll be." She looked around and Harlai knew there was more to her rant. "How long do you think we'll last without those supplies? We're looking at a twenty-mile trek, okay? So if we want to get there before dark, we need to leave now."
"I got a better idea." Bellamy spoke up as he stared at Clarke. "You three go, find it for us. Let the privileged do the hard work for a change." This earned a chorus of 'yeah's from the criminal group.
Harlai rolled her eyes because she was never anywhere near privileged. Her mother worked in the farming station along with her low-life of a father. "Privileged, my ass." She muttered, earning a look from Bellamy. She just spoke up at the wrong time.
"You're not listening. We all need to go." Wells spoke with his hands as he looked around at the group.
"Look at this, everybody-" Murphy stepped up as he pushed Wells and the taller boy stumbled over. "The Chancellor of Earth."
"Think that's funny?" Wells barely even finished his sentence as Murphy advanced on him, kicking his ankle and sending him to the ground as Clarke yelled out for him.
"No, but that was." Murphy said as Wells jumped to his feet. Harlai frowned as she noticed him already limping. That wasn't good.
The brunette grimaced as the boys began to square up, looking as if they were going to fight. Harlai exchanged a worried glance with Clarke. Before Murphy could get a punch in, a boy jumped from God knows where and in between the two, earning shocked expressions from just about everyone.
"Kid's got one leg." The guy said and it took Harlai a moment, but she recognized him as Finn, the guy who got to do a space walk. Of course, it wasted three months worth of oxygen. Hopefully, it was fun. "How about you wait until it's a fair fight?"
"Hey, spacewalker!" Octavia walked up to Finn and as he turned around, she spoke again with a budding smile. "Rescue me next."
The crowd began to disperse and Harlai looked around. She noticed Bellamy as he walked up to Octavia, knowing that he'd be getting onto her for flirting with Finn. So, she turned and began to follow Clarke.
"Hey, Clarke. I want to come help on the trip. With almost everyone on Bellamy's side, I'm sure you'll need all the help you can get." As Harlai called out the blonde's name, she turned around only to kneel down so she could see about Wells' ankle.
"Thank you, Harlai." She said and unnoticeably winced at Harlai's bluntness then turned back to Wells after speaking to Harlai, placing one hand on the top of his foot, the other on his ankle making Wells hiss in pain.
"So Mount Weather, when do we leave?" Finn asked as he walked up, glancing at Harlai for a split second before looking down to Clarke and Wells.
"Right now." Clarke stood up, her eyes finding Finn. "We'll be back tomorrow with the food." She said as she looked down to Wells.
"How are the three of you going to carry enough food for a hundred?" Wells asked with a look that Harlai couldn't decipher. Was he judging them or was he asking this because he didn't want Clarke to go out there without him?
Finn turns around and looks for a split second before grabbing the kid with the goggles and his asian friend. "Five of us. Can we go now?"
"Sounds like a party. Make it six." Harlai groaned internally as a perky Octavia walked up with Bellamy following.
"Hey, what the hell are you doing?" He asked as he grabbed her arm.
"Going for a walk." Octavia spoke as she jerked her arm away, not making any eye contact with her older brother.
"Hey, were you trying to take this off?" Harlai heard Clarke ask Finn, turning her head so she could see that Finn's wristband was all marked up as Clarke grabbed it.
Harlai glanced down at her own wrist, remembering that's the reason she freaked out in her cell in the Skybox. She had no idea what the hell it was.
"Yeah, so?"
"So this wristband transmits your vital signs to the ark. Take it off, and they'll think you're dead." Clarke chastised the messy haired boy to which he rose his eyebrows.
"Should I care?" He replied.
"Well, I don't know. Do you want the people you love to think you're dead? Do you want them to follow you down here in two months? Because they won't if they think we're dying." After she said this, Finn just looked down at his feet, everyone growing silent. "Okay, now let's go."
With that, the group of six began to file towards their destination one by one, Octavia and Harlai being last with Clarke. Octavia glanced up at her brother to which he told her, "Go on." She grinned and grabbed his head, making him meet her halfway as she kissed his cheek.
Harlai groaned for the second time, but not where everyone could hear, and she began to turn so she could walk away. As Octavia bounded ahead of her, she heard Bellamy call out. "Hey, Sleeping Beauty."
The brunette stopped walking as an annoyed look crossed her face and she turned around to face him, bringing her arms up so she could cross them over her chest. "Yes, Beast?" Since he was going to refer to a disney fantasy character when speaking to her, she would do the same.
A smirk grew onto Bellamy's lips as he walked up closer so they were only a foot apart and he quirked a dark brow. "If you're referring to me in the sheets." This comment made Harlai wrinkle her nose up, the splatter of freckles across the bridge of it shifting. "I think you should stay here with me. Some of the delinquents seem to listen to you."
Harlai looked over her shoulder and saw that Clarke was the only one standing on the edge of camp, waiting for her. She let out a soft sigh and she looked back up at the man towering over her. "I would, but I already told Clarke I was going with her. Since you didn't seem to care to help, she needs the help from me, too."
The snarky comment made Bellamy drop any humor from his face as his jaw clenched. "Fine. Although you're so small, I don't think you'd be much of help." With that, the dark haired man turned and walked away, leaving a fuming Harlai. She did the same, walking over to Clarke and even passing her.
Clarke rose her eyebrows and she walked up to Harlai, now pacing herself beside her. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, let's just go get some food."

"NOW, THAT, MY FRIEND, IS GAME." Jasper tells Monty as he pointed to Finn, who had grabbed a beautiful purple flower and placed it behind Octavia's ear.
Harlai chuckled quietly behind them. Along the walk, she had learned their names by listening to them a bit. They were complete dorks, but the cutest ones ever.
"That, my friend, is poison sumac." Monty pointed out as he grabbed one of the flowers.
"What, it is?" Octavia freaked out a bit and she swatted the flower out of her hair, making Harlai laugh.
"The flowers aren't poisonous. They're medicinal, calming, actually." Monty then confirmed as Clarke turned around to look at the group behind her.
Harlai was surprised that Monty knew all of this. As if Jasper had read her thoughts, he said, "His family grows all the pharmaceuticals on The Ark."
"Right, I think I stopped by a few times for some medicine for my mom's arthritis." Harlai pointed out as she walked in front of them, but she walked backwards so she could still face Monty and Jasper. "Your parents are nice people."
Monty was about to reply, but Clarke cut him off. "Hey, guys, would you try to keep up?"
This even annoyed Harlai a little bit. They were surrounded by fresh air and beautiful sights, but Clarke was on a mission, marching towards where she thought Mount Weather was.
"Come on, Clarke. How do you block all this out?" Finn said with a wide grin as the group behind Clarke did catch up.
"Yeah, why don't you stop to smell the poison sumac?" Harlai asked as she spread her hands out towards the pretty flowers, making Clarke huff and Monty laugh quietly.
"Well, it's simple. I wonder, 'why haven't we seen any animals?' Maybe it's because there are none. Maybe we've already been exposed to enough radiation to kill us." She paused as she looked at all of them and then she spoke again as she turned around. "Sure is pretty though. Come on."
"Someone should slip her some poison sumac." Octavia commented as she began to follow Clarke, the comment making the rest of the five laugh, even Harlai.
They all began to follow suit, this time trying to keep up with Clarke like she wanted.
"I got to know what you two did to get busted." He glanced over his shoulder as he looked at Jasper and Monty then Harlai behind them. She had the shortest legs, so she was trying her best to keep up. "You too, Shorty. You'd be the last person I thought I'd see with us."
"Well, Sumac's not the only herb in the garden, if you know what I mean." Monty told him as Harlai stuffed her hands in the pockets of her jeans. She wasn't too excited to let everyone know why she was there, but she knew it'd come out eventually.
"Someone forgot to replace what we took." Jasper said, making Monty laugh and shake his head.
"Someone has apologized, like, a thousand times."
"What about you, Harlai?" Octavia turned around as she walked backwards and she stared at the young woman. "What got you out here with the rest of us?"
"If you'd like to know so much about me, Octavia, I guess I'll tell you." Harlai narrowed her eyes at the woman, making Octavia smirk in response. "My dad framed me, making it look like I stole drugs."
"Why would he do that?" Monty asked as his eyebrows furrowed. Octavia's smirk faltered once she realized it wasn't Harlai's fault.
"I found him cheating on my mother and he didn't want me to tell her." She shrugged her shoulders and she glanced away so she wouldn't see all of the eyes on her, even Clarke.
"Elise is the nicest woman I know. I don't know why someone would do that to her." Clarke said, making everyone's face turn into a solemn expression.
"I'm sorry, Harlai." Octavia said as she walked over to the girl and Harlai looked over at her with a small smile.
"It's okay, you didn't know."
In all honesty, Harlai was glad that she actually talked about it. It felt good to get it off of her chest, and now her and Octavia had a newfound respect for one another. She knew that Octavia's imprisonment wasn't her fault either, so in one way they were alike.
Being ahead of them once again, Clarke motioned for the rest of the group to hurry. She was already crouched down and she brought her finger up to her lips, signaling for them to be quiet. Harlai's eyes followed Clarke's finger, widening them in surprise when she saw a deer eating grass a few feet away from them.
"No animals, huh?" Finn said in a quiet voice, making Clarke look to him, watching as he began to step forward.
Unfortunately, Finn stepped on a stick and it snapped. This spooked the deer as it straightened up and looked towards the sound. The six of them gasped as they saw it had two heads, the one that had grown looking grotesque and just wrong. Harlai looked over at Jasper and Monty, exchanging bewildered glances as the deer bounded away.
"That wasn't very pretty." Harlai grumbled.
