CHAPTER 42:MARRIAGE PROPOSAL
GRAY'S POV
After coming from Gajeel's house, I went to my apartment with the things I brought for decorating our place for tomorrow's surprise moment.
I informed my dad about this so that they don't worry where I would have gone.
Tomorrow I want it to be the best day in my princess' life so that she doesn't get sad or remorseful hereafter.
Even though tomorrow it would be her parent's death anniversary which is a sorrowful day but still this can reduce the pain, she harbours at least by half.
Hope tomorrow goes according to my plan.
Then after arranging everything accordingly, I left the place to meet Juvia at my parent's place.
On the way, I bought a bouquet of roses to make her feel better. She has been quite sick and under the weather since last week.
After going home, I should ask what's happening with her.
JUVIA'S POV
It's 6 in the evening and my Gray hasn't come home. Currently, I'm sitting in the room and looking through his childhood album.
I gently smile and caress my tummy while seeing his baby photos.
I really want our baby to take after my Gray. He looks so cute and adorable in these photos.
Suddenly I remembered, tomorrow's is my parent's death anniversary.
I need to visit the cemetery with my mom's and dad's favourite flowers and a few food dishes for the people who live there.
It has always been mine and Gajeel-Kun's norm to feed the poor and needy people who stay in the cemetery.
But this year, I'm going to bring Gray along with me to meet my parents and proudly show them that he is my life and beyond.
This is the first time Gray will be coming with me and of course, even our baby so we would be going as a family tomorrow.
Hope mom and dad can see this and get happy and shower their blessings on us.
I heard a honking sound from outside. It looks like Gray has come back.
Soon I dashed downstairs without bothering about my tired condition.
"Hey Juvia-chan, don't run like this in your condition. Gray won't run away. So calm down..."
Mom advised me.
"Sorry mom, but still, I haven't seen him for a week. So I'm eager, that's all. Don't worry, I will slow down."
I assured her that she carefully walked down the stairs.
From the top, I saw Gray coming in and soon I got down and greeted him with a hug.
"Gray, welcome back. I missed you."
He smiled and hugged back, "I'm back, princess. Even I missed you. How are you feeling now?"
Gray kissed my forehead and looked into my eyes.
I remembered dad said to hide this information for now, but I still don't know the exact reason behind this.
But I do know there must be a cause so I heeded to his words.
"I'm alright, don't worry. I thought let's stay with mom and dad, that's why I came here. So how was your trip? Where did you go?"
I asked him as I lay my head on his chest. Gray pulled me towards him and rested his chin on my head.
"I came in the morning itself. When I came home, you were sleeping so I didn't bother to disturb you.
Then I had little work to do so I went to the office."
He said as he patted my back.
Suddenly, we heard a cough sound. We pulled apart and saw dad grinning like a crazy person. We grew red due to embarrassment.
"Dad, will you cut that ugly look from your face? It's disgusting.." Gray yelled at him.
"Okay son, carry on... Juvia-chan, come to me if he does anything funny." Dad smirked and left us.
"Gray looks like we have to go. So get freshened up, dinner is ready." I told him and went to the kitchen.
After having dinner, we went to the terrace and were currently stargazing.
I informed Gray that tomorrow is my parent's death anniversary and to my surprise, he agreed to come along with me.
NEXT DAY
(STILL JUVIA'S POV)
After a few hours of the train journey, we reached the Billton Cemetery Ground where my parents and uncle are buried.
Seeing this place, my eyes began to tear up.
"Juvia, please get a hold on yourself. Don't cry or else your parents will become sad."
Gray threw his arm around my shoulder and wiped my tears with his other hand.
"Yeah, you are right. I will not cry."
I assured him and gave a vague smile.
As we walked some distance, we reached their tombstone. I kept the bouquet of 2 different flowers: blue lilies and white iris near the pedestal. And also a bottle of red wine.
Then we prayed for a few minutes, every year this day is marked as the remorseful day in my life which brings back all the horrifying memories.
If my parents didn't get into that accident then our life would have been different.
As I prayed, tears went streaming down my eyes.
'Mom, Dad, how are you? I miss you both very much. Don't worry about me and Gajeel-Kun, we are leading a happy life thanks to your blessings.
Mom, Dad, I'm going to share happy news to you both. I'm carrying your grandchild in my womb. It's something I and Gray made out of pure love and affection which I'm proud of.
I still haven't disclosed this to Gray but soon I will do. Hope he also feels the same just like me. Please look after us. Hope you both are in peace.'
I opened my eyes and saw Gray praying sincerely looking at him, I gave a small smile and wiped my tears.
GRAY'S POV
As soon as we entered, Juvia began to cry. Once she offered her prayers. It's my turn to do so.
This is the first time I'm coming with Juvia to meet her parents. I placed the bouquet which I brought along with hers. And began to pray:
'Hello Mother, Father, hope you know who I am? I'm Gray Fullbuster, Juvia's soon-to-be husband.
Yeah, I'm planning for a surprise proposal today so that I can be with your daughter for the rest of our life.
Don't worry, I will take care of your daughter just like how I will take care of my daughter. Juvia means the world to me.
Her happiness is my priority and I promise you that I will never betray her, never let her strive for love and never leave her side ever again.
Hope I keep up my promise but I will try all means to make it happen.
Please Mother, Father, give me your permission for having your daughter's hand. From the day I proposed to her my love, she has been my responsibility.
From today on, my responsibility will grow, which I could never mind but happily keep looking forward to it.
Please don't worry about Juvia and her life. Now she has got me, I will take care of her.
Please rest in peace Mother, Father.'
As I opened my eyes, I saw Juvia looking at me with teary eyes but a smiling face.
Just then, two butterflies were flying around us and sat on my shoulders.
"Gray, you know what it means? My parents are here with us. They are happy to meet you."
She smiled and began to play with the butterflies.
I reached my hands to wipe those tears from her eyes, "Princess, didn't I say no more crying. So won't you introduce me to your mum and dad?"
She innocently clicked her tongue and began the intro, "Mom, dad, he's Gray Fullbuster, my boyfriend and my life. Say hi to them."
She was talking to those butterflies.
"Hello, there mother, father. I'm a proud and handsome boyfriend of your beautiful daughter. Nice meeting you."
I turned my head to greet the butterflies which made Juvia chuckle.
Then after spending some time sitting on the ground, we shared the story of our life with her parents. I really hope I keep up my promises.
Then we went out and distributed the food supplies which we brought along with us.
The people happily accepted them and blessed us.
After 2 hours of the train journey, we reached Magnolia and went on a date to ease her mind and mood. Like that we spent the rest of the day.
I texted aunt Layla that we are coming to the apartment so that she can make Juvia stay with her for a few minutes until I make the final touch.
As true her words, she stopped Juvia in her room. I took this opportunity and went to our apartment.
Luckily the helium balloons which are heart-shaped are still intact and don't look deflated or underwhelming in the living room.
Then I went to the bedroom, slowly opened the door so that all the domino pieces don't tremble and fall before the play.
Even the balloons in here look fresh and good.
Yeah, it took me nearly two hours to arrange these pieces in the correct order so that once they fall, it will say, "WILL YOU MARRY ME?"
So now, everything is set accordingly. Let's hope it works out without getting ruined.
I heard the footsteps so she must be coming back, once I checked my back pocket and felt the ring box.
I slowly closed the door and went to receive her. Correctly, on time, I left the apartment.
"Gray, you startled me. Why did you come out? To get me.."
She asked me.
I simply nodded my head and she began to move in. I came to the side when she opened the door.
Once she went in, she looked amused and her eyes were wandering around the living room.
"Gray, what's with the decorations?" She asked in amazement.
"This is to brighten up your mood as you looked under the weather for the past week and I missed you. So that's why princess."
I hugged her behind. My heartbeat began to increase rapidly.
She lifted her hands to caress my cheeks,
"Oh, that's so sweet of you. Thank you for your concern, my Gray. Come now, it's my turn to make you happy."
She turned around and tip-toed to reach my lips to give a chaste kiss which I responded back.
Then she led me to the bedroom as I expected. I slowly opened the room and led her in, she once again looked surprised seeing the balloons and ribbons.
Once she reached the end of the bed, I gestured to her to look down.
"Gray, what's happening here? What are these domino pieces doing here?"
"Just push that red one, you will soon know the answer."
I assured her and stood next to her.
As she bent down to push the one, one-by-one the pieces began to fall in the correct manner.
After all the pieces fell, Juvia began to tear up and covered her mouth with the hands.
Once she turned to look for me, I was down on my knees displaying the diamond ring on my palms.
"Juvia Locksar, Will you marry me?"
I pulled out the best smile on my face.
She hugged me and began to cry on my shoulders,
"Yes...yes..yes.....yes....Gray Fullbuster, I will marry you. I love you..."
I slowly got up and hugged her,
"Hey Juvia, don't cry. It's a special moment so we should happily cherish this for the rest of our life. Now wipe your tears.... Look at me, princess."
I wiped her tears and lifted her chin to give a quick kiss.
"So will you marry me?"
"Didn't I say yes.!! Yes, for a thousand times." She smiled brightly.
Then I took her left hand and wore the diamond ring which looked stunning in her long, pale finger.
Again, we shared a quick and chaste kiss. I would never get tired of kissing her.
After a few hours, we sat in the bed comforters covering our naked bodies after a small happy activity.
She sat on my lap and her head lay against my chest.
I interlock my fingers with her fingers then pull up towards my mouth to give a quick kiss to the ring and her cheeks. She giggled.
"Hey princess, you know today is the best day of my life. I want you to feel the same. Are you happy?"
I asked her with sincerity in my tone.
"Yes, Gray. I'm very happy and content. You know every year this day would even be something depressing and sad but now, for the first time in all these years, I'm actually happy thanks to you.
All this happiness which I'm getting is all because of that one person and that is you, my Gray."
She said her heartfelt words with her beautiful smile.
"No need to thank me, princess. All I did was my duty. Nothing much. So tell me what you were going to say ?"
I asked her and snaked my arms around her waist pulling much closer to me.
"Gray, can you take that handbag from the dressing table? From the 2nd zip, take a small envelope." She instructed me.
I did as she said and took a pink envelope. Then she told me to open it, all I saw was a small photo which looked like an X-ray.
I couldn't see clearly what was there in that photo all looked grey but in the middle, there was a tiny streak which looked curved...
"What's this princess?"
I asked in confusion.
She pulled my palms over her tummy and rested there.
"Gray, that's the photo of a CT scan. They said it is way too early for this but still, I insisted and that's the picture they could capture."
She began to flinch which means she is kind of tense.
"Is something wrong with you? What does this CT scan say? Tell me before it becomes something harmful for your health, Juvia."
I told her with a worried tone.
She giggled, "No I'm not sick in that sense, but something is different in my body. Still, you didn't get this? Take a good look at that photo."
She instructed and kissed my palms.
I took a good look but nothing struck my mind.
"Fine, I will say it to you directly. Gray, I missed my period. It should have come 2 weeks before but it didn't come and all those sickness symptoms meant only one thing:
I'm pregnant with our baby.
You are gonna be a father soon, My Gray."
Juvia said and turned to look at my widened black eyes.
I was speechless not that I was angry or depressed, of course, I'm happy and suddenly I'm feeling an unexplained feeling building within my body.
Seeing my speechless expression, Juvia began to feel tense and bowed down,
"Gray, are you not happy with it? I'm so so...."
Before she could finish the sentence, I cupped her cheeks and made her look into my eyes.
Happy tears were streaming down my eyes,
"Princess, who said I'm not happy? I'm very much happy and joyous. So that's the first photo of our baby.
Sorry baby, daddy couldn't recognize you as you looked like a jelly stick.. hahaha...
I'm really happy Juvia. Thank you for this wonderful gift. But you could have told me before us doing this thing, what if we have hurt the baby?"
I asked her.
Juvia wiped my tears,
"No, Gray you were very gentle and loving today. So it was okay, we could never hurt our baby.
I'm happy to hear you are happy with our baby. Thank you for everything Gray.
If it wasn't for that staff member at the housing agency who gave us the idea of cohabitation then all this wouldn't have happened at all."
Juvia again laid her head on my chest.
"Yeah, Juvia. We must thank her as she was the one who brought two complete strangers together only to find the soulmate in them."
"I love you, Juvia"
"I love you, Gray"
