Chapter 9

Annoyed I sat on the porch waiting for Teeshay to hurry the hell up. As he predicted Mom loved the idea and even put him in charge of me. Whatever that is. Even dad who doesn't like me speaking to boys was fond of the plan. So here I am waiting for the man himself to come out. I can't believe that I'm being forced to go somewhere I don't want to go. And what is worse is that I have to spend a 20-minute car ride with Teeshay who loves to tease me.

Teeshay comes out of his house and couldn't deny that he looked good. He was wearing a white Nike tank top and loose grey jogging bottoms since he going to get changed there. The top hugged his muscles at the arms making it more noticeable and I couldn't help but stare at his arms.

Goodness Mel seriously control yourself.

"Hey, you ready to go baby doll?" He jogged down to his car. I nod and follow him into the passenger seat. The car looked familiar as if I have seen it somewhere but I couldn't put my finger on it. Not as if I seen the same car on the road, but I have seen this somewhere.

"This is the first and last game I'm going to so it better be entertaining," I grumble shoving my hands in my grey hoodie.

"It will be. Trust me. You want to know why?" He says as he pulls out of the driveway.

"Why?" I looked around his car. It was much cleaner and tidy than I thought it was. A few takeout boxes here and there.

"Because I will be playing duh." His arrogant ass says.

I lean into my chair and relax as Teeshay turns on his radio. He puts on "When I grow up" by NF and my eyes widen. "Oh my gosh, wait you listen to NF?" I gasped. Teeshay looks at me in his rear mirror and chuckles a bit.

"Yeah, that's my guy." He over glances at me. Surprisingly, the car ride was not annoying and instead we discussed NF and what songs are the best and a heated debate on whether his first album or latest album is the best. I think his first album is the best. Arriving at school, we search for another parking space since the parking lot was completely filled. Didn't realize how big the games were. I knew that the finals everyone in town would gather to see who won but I never really figured how popular it was.

"Wish me luck," Teeshay says as we get to the front of the school.

"Break a leg. Literally." I smile. He sticks his middle finger up at me before disappearing into the gym.

I make my way to the benches looking around for my friends.

"Mel!" Ali calls waving her corn dog in the air which managed to drop some on some people. I sit down next to them receiving a few annoyed stares at the people in front.

"Sorry." Ali rolls her eyes sarcastically. "Told you that you will come at the end. My persuasion skills are on point."

"Actually my mom forced me so." I am supposed to be in my warm bed wrapped in my warm blanket hugging Tiddle my stuffed bear and watching a movie. But here I am freezing in the autumn wind about to watch a football match.

We waited for the game to start and I complain because I hate sitting at the edge and after 1ten minutes Tokyo moves over so I can sit in the middle. "You are so annoying," He grumbles.

"Love you too." I quickly hug him. Even though I bought my own popcorn, I steal some of his when he wasn't looking. "How long until the match will start?" I moan.

"Just be patient soon." Tokyo leans over to Ali lowering his voice, "Whose idea was it to bring her again?"

"I told you not to invite me. So I will do my best to give you the double annoyance treatment. I grin mischievously at Tokyo who sticks his tongue out.

"So childish." Mary Sol's voice is heard from behind us. We all make space for her and look at her in astonishment since the girl hardly leaves the house apart from going to school. She is even more antisocial than I am.

"Don't even say anything, I was bored." She warns.

"Look who finally decided to get her Vitamin D." Ali jokes.

"Spell Vitamin." Mary Sol sends her a challenging look.

"I don't have time for a pop quiz!" Ali snaps sending us into fits of laughter. Finally, the principal walks into the middle of the field and the crowds go quiet.

"Shhh, it's starting." Tokyo hushes us. I reach out to grab some more of his popcorn only to get a slap on the wrist. "No chance."

The principal goes on about how he is excited about the new season and then the cheerleaders came on. Natalie avoids eye contact since she will burst into laughter. The rest of the game was ok. I really don't understand the hype of sweaty guys running around a field. And why boys especially spend most of their lives talking about it. Teeshay, however, was surprisingly really good and scored 4 goals, Cameron, scoring the last goal. His teammates even patted his back and at the end, all apart from David, Cameron and three others jumped on him when our school won. Although he did gain some annoyed and confused glares from his old teammates. After the game, Natalie comes over to us giving us quick hugs.

"That was tiring. I need a drink, you guys staying for the party right?"

Tokyo and Ali nod, Mary Sol surprisingly said she will be staying because Bruce drove her here. She also said she rather go sky diving than hang out with "despicable imbeciles who waste their life partying all the time." this is someone who is scared of heights.

They all look at me but I shook my head. "Sorry but no. I stayed for the game that is enough."

"Who did you even come with?" Natalie asks. I just realized.

"Great I have to stay because Teeshay is my ride." And knowing him he cannot miss a good party.

"Well guess you are staying!" Ali sings. She is always singing. After freshening up in the toilets I find Teeshay leaning on his car.

"You ready." He asks eyes glued onto his phone. His voice seemed angry. I nod hopping into the car. It was weird that he was angry since he won the game but I chose not to question him yet. Just as he about started the car two boys from the football team that was playing against our school, were making their way towards him. But they were not from our school but Riverbank, Teeshay's old school. Teeshay curses under his breath.

"You ok?" I ask. He glances over at me an unreadable expression on his face. He nods before getting out of the car to talk to the boys. I stayed in the car quickly checking my phone which was about to die and a few seconds later there was raised voices.

I look up to see one of the boys in Teeshay's face. It looked like a very heated conversation. He was the tallest out of the two but not taller than Teeshay. He started shouting and Teeshay shoves him back yelling even louder. I debate whether to stay in the car or pull Teeshay away. They continue to yell catching people's attention.

"You fucking betrayed us, bro. Like what were you thinking!" The shortest one yelled.

"Look I already told you that it's over. I'm done." He walks back to the car face full of anger. He pulls out and drives away.

"This discussion ain't over Rivers." The tallest yells as we pass them.

We sit in the car in silence, music playing quietly in the background. I felt distant energy. Usually, Teeshay is goofy all the time and I hardly see him pissed.

"Who were those boys?" My desperate attempt to break the silence.

"None of your business," Teeshay responded coldly.

"Ok sorry, it was just a question. Don't have to get rude."

"Don't start with me Melody I'm not in the mood." He snaps.

"No shit." I snap back. "Are we going to the party now?"

"Can you stop integrating me I don't feel like talking."

"I'm asking where we are going. Chill." I roll my eyes.

He continues driving in silence. I noticed the dry blood on his knuckles. It seemed like he punched someone early this day.

"What's up with your hands?" My curiosity getting the best if me.

"Punched a wall." He responded dryly.

"Why did you punch a wall hulk?"

"Why are you ask many questions?" He raises an eyebrow.

"Because I'm bored! And you are being a meanie and grumpy buff" I lean my head on the window.

I hear a quiet stifled laugh form Teeshay. I look at him.

"What so funny?"

"What the hell is a grumpy buff?" He laughs out loud. His laugh was nice, and it was nice to see he wasn't whatever mood he was in before.

"I have no idea. You were really good in the field."

"What can I say never think less of me baby doll." His shoulders relaxed a bit and I could tell that his anger was slowly going away. "So you coming to all my other games?"

"Not a chance. I was asleep for half the game."

"You are always sleeping." His mouth slowly curved into a smile. Why does he have such a nice smile?

"No, I don't. But one more question though." I smiled innocently.

"Oh, my gosh." Teeshay rolls his eyes.

"Where is the party held at? And I don't care if you have five girls in line to make out with you we are leaving at nine."

He thinks for a minute. "New plan. We are not going to the party."

He turns into a new road. "Are we going home then?" I ask excitedly.

"No, my very antisocial friend I'm taking you somewhere."

I frowned. "Where?"

He looks over at me. " You have to wait and see."
